Is there a dedicated lemmy instance for movies and series where created communities are specific to a certain movie or series? Something like how programming.dev does for different programming languages
StarTrek.website is an instance dedicated to the Star Trek franchise.
It is a solid, well functioning medium-sized instance, and the largest one specific to a particular show, movie or franchise. It was created by mods of related subreddits.
It’s communities cover Star Trek television shows and movies as well as tie-in books, comics, games and merchandise. It also has a general discussion (off topic) community.
“lemmy.film,” said one of the lemmy.film’s admins. We hope to be that host to all film-and-TV-centric communities.
If there’s something specific you can’t find at lemmy.film, like a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_in_Charge community or maybe a I ❤ Ryan Gosling community, whatever!, you can always request a new subject-specific community. Just make a request here and we’ll jump on it!
I am so confused… this is being posted to lemmy.film. That’s like walking into a 7-Eleven and asking if there’s some place where you can buy a flavored ice drink.
Maybe my question was not well worded, but the communities in lemmy.film are too general and not focused on any particular movie, film or tv series. You should look at programming.dev then you will get a feel of what i am asking.
I do understand what you’re saying - specific communities for different movies & shows. What I didn’t realize is that lemmy.film doesn’t allow community creation. If they did, that would allow people to create communities just like you’re saying.

Was to post my query in the movies community in lemmy.world, but in my haste I mistakenly did it on lemmy.film moviesandtv community, spilt milk, shall try re-posting it there with more context and might be there may be a better solution that does not necessarily involve the process of requesting a community as mongoose has stated. Overall lemmy.film seemed more appropriate to query the question since it centers on this topic. lemmyverse.net yields little and mostly no communities at the moment.

Apologies, didn’t see the “Create Community” button up top like I’m used to on lemmy.ml, lemmy.world, etc. And I’m browsing from old.lemmy.world most of the time anyway. :P
OP, go be the change you want to see and create the communities for the movies & shows you want.
I really enjoyed the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul communities on Re**it and some other TV series subs. I’m not sure if they’re on Lemmy or not.. but now that you bring it up, I haven’t even looked!
I think a lot of those specific communities will naturally grow as they air and as Lemmy gets more popular. If The Last of Us had aired after the migration, we would definitely see that one as an active community.
I recently watched the swarm and twisted metal and my excitment after each episode screamed for a discussion. I really enjoyed the Yellowstone community on reddit where after each new episode I could engage and find out peoples take on it and predictions.
The requester, if so desired. Actually it’s hoped that the requester become the moderator, or at least a moderator. The admins have enough on our plates as is! 😄
