Hollywood makes original movies all the time. Viewers just don’t go see them. Hollywood follows the money. If viewers watched original movies more, Hollywood would make them more.
More than that. If time stops around you, you can sleep in every day. You’ll probably get more than 8 hours each night. Plus your stress will go down, and your health will go up. Both leading to a longer life. If you even used a small portion of your normal sleeping time toward physical activity, you could get very healthy.
This is good for multiple reasons. First off, people should get what they’re worth. This is most important. But it’s also good for viewers. Writers are often on set to adjust scripts that feel awkward in the filming process. When the writers went on strike, I imagine a lot of productions just went ahead without having a writer on set. With actors also now striking, production should surely stop and we’ll get better quality content overall.
I could imagine it being installed on ceilings within certain rooms. Devices could be connected to both lifi and wifi. If lifi isn’t working it could fall back to wifi. But in reality, I have a feeling this will just be in niche scenarios, yes. I can imagine wifi getting 100x faster before this catches on.

With Twitter, you follow people. On Reddit you follow topics. As long as the best topics are discussed, Lemmy is a viable alternative. But Mastodon needs specific people you want to follow to move over.
Years and years ago we had the safe on Reddit and everyone talked about what could be in it. I don’t remember ever getting to find out. We definitely need updates after all this is done.
Vietnamese vermicelli bowls. Romaine lettuce on the bottom, then vermicelli noodles on top. Top with cut up chicken thigh (marinated in fish sauce, soy sauce, and lemongrass. Also sugar if you want). Add sliced cucumber and cilantro. It’s also gluten free and if you want to make it low carb, you can replace the noodles with konjac vermicelli.
Turkey burgers. 1lb of ground turkey, 1tbsp of ketchup, 1tbsp of soy sauce, 1/3 cup of shredded cheese, 1 cut up green onion. Mix and form into patties. Once hers are separate, you can add garlic powder to yours.

When they said Reddit has 2000 employees I was shocked. what could they possibly do onto a website that is basically run by users (and sysadmins) and that is basically feature-wise mature? Not all of those employees would be engineers, and out of those engineers, many would be backend engineers improving the speed and ranking algorithms. Apollo would also be taking advantage of that work.
Of the iOS engineers, many would probably have been working on priorities that generate money for the company, but we all hated. Apollo had a great model where he just had to make the users happy enough to give him subscription fees.
I hate the decisions the Reddit leads have been making, but I guarantee that the employees have been putting in plenty of effort. It’s the company’s priorities that are misaligned with what the users want.
Right. It’s like if I stand at a street corner telling people to try out a local restaurant. And then the local restaurant says that I should be charged to recommend them. It makes no sense.
It’ll be a much easier feat for Lemmy too. When people leave Twitter for Mastodon, they have to give up following their favourite celebrities. Twitter entirely depends on WHO is on the platform. Reddit doesn’t. All Lemmy needs to compete is have enough content to have comparable engagement. If enough users are posting and engaging with content on Lemmy, it’s a viable alternative to anyone. Especially if Lemmy has good apps (because Reddit sure doesn’t).
