When I was young I used to go out every Saturday with my dad and a guy that was part of a bird banding group. We mostly caught warblers and chickadees and a few others line that.

I learned how to hold birds, band them, untangle them from the nets, and all about their personalities. It was so much fun getting to hold wild birds and track their migratory patterns.

Many birds we would see on the same week every year. It’s amazing.

I think they’re way more strict about who can hold or untangle birds now. So I feel even more privileged to have gotten to participate as a kid (teenager).

I like Google a lot. I wish they respected privacy more.

It’s the internet. People only know how to converse via pedantics

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

Wow. I guess people don’t know how to take a joke

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

Yup. I had an FTX account but I did not keep any crypto or cash there, thankfully.

This is really a question for your doctor.

Just for fun, let me buy every upsell, regardless of whether I want or need it.

And then let me compare that to the normal configuration of things I bought…

Why don’t you compare apples to apples. Configure an M3 MBP like you would with fairly normal specs?

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

Yeah I was trying to make a lame pun

Simplest solution for fragmented communities: Redirect comments to one post (by asking or with new functionality)

EDIT: Thank you for all the great responses! I agree that a forced implementation is no longer the way to go. I’ve left the post as is, aside from this comment, in case anyone wanted to reference part of it. At this point, I think implementation 1 (Sincere Request) is the way to go if anything....

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

I’d rather just have different communities. There are some instances I’d prefer not to have to go to and this proposal would give more controls to the bigger communities.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

I’d rather not have to go to a different community to discuss a post.

Wasn’t one of my favorite bands, but Iistened to them regularly.

Lead singer of As I Lay Dying hired someone to kill his wife. (Guy he hired was actually a cop, so he went to prison)

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

This is one of the best posts on lemmy I’ve seen yet. Thanks for the great write up.

I had no idea that they were a kind of raptor. Nor how strong they are.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

Because they were attacked. And Hamas attacked civilians specifically.

I don’t love what Israel has done a lot of the time, but you can’t be surprised that the world is supporting Israel right now.

I wish there was a non-violent solution, but even suggesting something like that right now seems ignorant of reality.

The ease of student loans would not exist without government backing. In a pure capitalism, this wouldn’t be a problem.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

Yeah. Anarchy doesn’t work. No argument there. But the blame for exorbitant college tuition lies with the state, not with capitalism.

Cults are defined by cult-like activity. Cult-like activity is bad because it abuses people.

If there’s a “cult” that doesn’t actually have cult-like activity, then it’s not really a cult.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

I missed this answer before I gave mine. I basically said the same thing.

It’s not that all cultures are good. But it is true that all cults are bad.

If a cult isn’t engaging in the cult-like activities you mention, then it’s not really a cult

As long as everyone has an opt-out option, this seems like a really good idea.

They become the oligarchy. So… No different than now.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

This stuff isn’t intentional. It’s just that MS is really bad at handling errors. So they just gave up and put a generic message.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

Can you blame them? Fall is awesome.

All browsing is what really sucks for some niche communities. Until we have the ability to exclude our communities from all, these niche communities don’t have a chance to survive.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

I am already subscribed!

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

That’ll be great for most communities. That’s the exact opposite of what I want for a few specific ones though

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

Why does anyone subscribe to [email protected]? It’s run by tankies. Therefore very biased.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

Even lemmy.ml has suffered the occasional server hiccup. Most of the big instances are pretty stable now though

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

Wrong community. You’re looking for Lemmy support

Terevos,

That best my top movie. Which is also Matrix, but I only saw it 3 times in the theater.

Terevos,

I do wish Tesla had Android Auto, but their software is really quite good.

Mostly I just want different music apps like Plex and Newpipe.

The nav stuff is mostly fine. SMS integration is good. Video apps while parked is good.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

I’ll throw my hat in the ring. If you need another.

I have a bunch of experience here and back on reddit.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

Awesome. Let’s get mildly interested in this.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

I use Plexamp. This requires a Plex server though.

How do people not know that leased solar panels are a bad idea?

Get a loan and buy them! And get a good 30 year warranty on it. They’re awesome.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

Go for it. I blocked most of them and it’s definitely better.

Terevos,

I’m not a manager but a team lead. And I’ve had to train people remotely. It’s way easier to train them in person, especially when there’s a team to answer their questions and not just me.

I try to offload some questions here and there but it’s definitely easier in person.

That said, I still way prefer working remotely. I try to go into the office sometimes. But man it’s just so much more convenient working at home.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

This is not a good announcement. Why would they do this?

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

This is a way better explanation than I could have possibly done. Thank you.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

one time a year though.

One time… Like late November to early March.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

Many would argue that he can’t run for president either.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

I unsubscribed from world news on lemmy.ml as soon as I heard about them being tankies. Lemmy.world has the same community with mostly the same posts anyway.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

There’s a reason I don’t mod any communities on that instance. I don’t understand why other people would either.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

Just get 1 dongle that you have everything plugged into. Then you only need to plug your laptop into 1 thing. Bam. Super convenient.

Terevos,
@Terevos@lemm.ee avatar

We have 2 near me. I don’t go as much as I’d like but they’re pretty fun
