Pfnic,

For the rest of his life?? How the fuck would this even be enforceable?

Pfnic,

This is the kind of person who would stick to IDE (with master and slave disks ofc) because S-ATA is only an N away from eternal damnation

Pfnic,

Ho ho ho 😈

Pfnic,

Yeah Revolut has single use credit cards which is useful

Pfnic,

Funny meme, shit title

Pfnic,

It might come from languages like German where nouns are capitalized. Even in English proper nouns are capitalized so I don’t see why that bothers you so much

Pfnic,

Fair enough. They might just use autocorrect wrong, idk

Pfnic,

In theory, yes but if you use a good password manager and have a strong master password the encryption should be practically impossible to break. The fact that you only have to remember one password means that this password can and should be a very strong one. 20+ characters with upper and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols should take centuries to crack.

Pfnic,

I’ve the same GPU but way older CPU (3900X) and could play for 3h without issues yesterday. I noticed that the game is using multithreading way better than C:S 1. All cores of my CPU were used equally which made me think that the technical foundation seems to be solid, just too demanding for the average gaming PC. I’m on openSUSE btw

Pfnic,

I guess so, though I imagine the 3D cache of the 5800X3D might benefit the workload of this game specifically

Pfnic,

What’s with the enshittification of all those API testing tools? Can’t we just have a nice GUI for cURL that doesn’t feel the need to reinvent the wheel and make money?

Pfnic,

I hate this argument so I’m going tip start pronouncing it like the Dutch G or the Spanish J and you won’t be able to tell which it is because I speak neither language.

Pfnic,

This is nothing compared with cheesy escargot sushi

Pfnic,

In some countries bigger grocery stores are called that. I think it exists mainly in French and Italian regions

Pfnic,

Been struggling with that two nights in a row now

Pfnic,

Wait, you guys don’t get escrow for the deposit?

Pfnic,

Ohh, my bad. I guess I’ve been doing it wrong all this time

Pfnic,

I’m sorry but this is borderline stupid food for me.

What are some FOSS programs that you think are a far better user experience than their counterparts? (sh.itjust.works)

I used Plex for my home media for almost a year, then it stopped playing nice for reasons I gave up on diagnosing. While looking at alternatives, I found Jellyfin which is much more responsive, IMO, and the UI is much nicer as well....

Pfnic, (edited )

I used Zotero for the references for my Bachelor’s thesis. I’m happy that I don’t need to use it anymore but the software itself is fine.

Pfnic,

There is actually a decently popular game made in Electron that just recently switched to Unity. RIP

Pfnic,

Vampire Survivors. I was pretty surprised when I looked at the game files

Pfnic,

That’s some bare metal system breakage I can get behind

Pfnic,

I mean this applies to pets too

Pfnic,

Okay I know about the blue stripe one but what is this meme about?

Pfnic,

What? How? Why?

Every time a game makes me feel like I’m required to pay to get anywhere it’s not on my device for much longer. I’m more susceptible to subscriptions though…

Pfnic,

Because ASP.NET isn’t a thing at all…

Pfnic,

Yes, Lightning was better than MicroUSB but by now I hope we can all agree, that it has overstayed its welcome

Pfnic,

It’s moments like these I wish Godot was more established

Pfnic,

Did you raid the grove?

Also I think what they meant is, that on a total-party-kill instead of having to reload a save, the game continues with a path to resurrection sub-plot or something like that.

Pfnic,

Sorry, I might have confused you there. I was giving an example for a sub-plot that, afaik doesn’t exist in BG3. Having to reload is probably not what OP was looking for

Pfnic,

I just can’t get used to GNOME. I’ve been using “classic” DEs for too long, so every time I try GNOME I start customizing it and end up withh a worse version of KDE

Pfnic,

I tried to do that as well but I realized, that my main use of my Linux desktop which is gaming and having a second screen for whatever else on the side, so usually two fullscreen applications at all times isn’t that well served. I’m sure if I used my PC for more serious multitasking and had limited screen space I would be avle to appreciate Gnome better.

Looking for games with unique core mechanics

I’m requesting for recommendations for games that stand out from the rest in their genre, and not in the sense of being the best game in that niche but actually bringing something new and innovative to the table. I’ve not had much experience in gaming, but I have a few games to give you a hint on what I am talking about:...

Pfnic,

I am not sure if it qualifies but Paradise Killer is pretty unique all-around. It may seem walking-simulator-ish but the presentation and the overall game-design are definitely a stand out. You’re trying to solve a murder mystery and it’s completely up to you as the player to decide when you’ve gathered enough information to make a conviction. There is practically no hand-holding either which is quite rare for a mystery solving/detective game. I know it might not exactly be what OP asked for but I think the game is worth being recommended more.

Pfnic,

In Mozilla’s “Privacy not included” report, Mazda isn’t listed as one of the 25 car brands they tested.

Their related article goes on to state, that all of the 25 brands they tested earned the Label, which I take to mean, that by extension probably most if not every car brand has privacy flaws.

Pfnic,

Except if your parents never end up divorcing and you just having to live with their bickering and one parent undermining the other with gaslighting. Fun times…

Pfnic,

More like capital-ASS-ism

Pfnic,

Is that smile some kind of filter? Looks uncanny af

Pfnic,

I’m constantly depressed in Winter because of the short days. Nothing more depressing than having to leave home for work in the dark and only returning when it’s already dark.

Pfnic,

Is the title a EU 4 reference?

Pfnic,

Care to elaborate? I can’t make sense of your response

Pfnic,

If it had to be a chromium browser, I guess I’d try Vivaldi. I’m happy with Librewolf and Firefox though.

Pfnic,

Yes because online discussions usually aren’t inherently subjective and instead backed by sourceable knowledge. Sorry for the cynicism but one could always find any source that underlines any point so everything should be taken with a grain of salt.

I’d personally argue, that the way generative AI works lends itself to produce answers that fit the general consensus of the internet that is relevant to the given prompt, because it calculates the most likely response based on the information available. Since most information relevant to “Google Web DRM” is critical of it (Google doesn’t call it DRM themselves), it makes sense a prompt querying the AI for opinions on Web DRM will result in a rather negative response, if Google doesn’t tamper with it to their advantage.

Pfnic,

oh wow that’s not what I expected generative AI to be able to do

Pfnic,

We do not. At least some of us.
