I always install Linux, 1-2 times per year but in the end I always go back to Windows. I have apps which are Windows only but whenever I want to change display scaling to 125% on Linux, is when I slowly start losing interest in it.
I cannot watch a video from start to finish anymore. Thanks youtube. Almost every video is filled with bs fluff to reach the 8 minute mark. It annoys me greatly. Maybe also because I am in the industry and I learned in school to not use meaningless shit in my videos.
But will they stop tracking and cross tracking your every move across the web? Because with all the paid options these sites offer I don’t really see a mention of not tracking you. Same back then when Reddit was still alive for me, for the sub they only stopped showing you ads but there was no mention of tracking.
I mean I won’t pay for Facebook ad-free thingy, I only go on the website 2-3 times a month so I could care less.
Your observations are pretty spot on, however the “friend in Russia” will most likely happen when hell freezes over. Russia is pretty hated and almost always was in Romania. What will however happen is the EU support will most likely drop to very low levels.
Got a 64GB refurb when they were in stock end of September, honestly I couldn’t tell it was a refurb. It looked like new, the only thing that might have given it away was the carrying case, had a few small smudges but I got a Tomtoc anyway so it didn’t matter anyway.
I have seen many people in this community either talking about switching to Brave, or people who are actively using Brave. I would like to remind people that Brave browser (and by extension their search engine) is not privacy-centric whatsoever....
Oh wow, we have reached this point in time. Some people tried to explain but nobody seems to care. I too use female/woman interchangeably, English is not my main language and personally I don’t see any of the 2 words as demeaning or one better than the other. You do realize the rest of the world doesn’t speak English at a native level so they might use words without attaching some hidden meaning behind them.
So lemmy/reddit is the place where only native speakers are discussing in their own language? I must be an outside here, I am not talking about hypothetical situations…I’m happy for you that you speak multiple languages, so do I…
That’s stupid and illegal in Europe since you only want to unsubscribe from emails. The few sites for which the unsub button does nothing, I usually contact them and tell them they are breaking the EU law and if they don’t stop, I will report them. Works all the time.
More transparency and more control over which content will get shown to you
So I can block all the “this changes everything”, “incredible thing you did not know”, “mind blowing details about game x” videos from youtube? When I load Youtube I always scroll down on the main page and click don’t recommend this channel on all videos that have titles like that or thumbnails with arrows, red circles or other crap thumbnails. Don’t care what channel it is.
My main server is named Postulate (an idea that you assume for the sake of argument), my desktop is named Axiom (a proved postulate), and my backup server is named Corollary (an idea that follows from an axiom)....
It all depends on how you got the game. If it was sent early, by accident etc they can’t do anything to you. You didn’t sign an NDA so you can stream as much as you want, sure they will ban you but they can’t sue you since you legitimately got the copy.
Exactly so let’s say in the future you get a 3d model from an AI. You put a human to work on it 2-3 hours, change some things around and then you can copyright it.
I haven’t, wouldn’t that be if I wanted to wake it via the network? On Debian and other distros when I pressed keys on the keyboard, it tried to wake from sleep but it didn’t actually turn on or had any image.
Actually It’s a good point, yes it was enabled. It worked a few hours before on Leap 15.3. So far it works only on Opensuse, that’s why I wondered why.
Thanks for your reply, could have done that. I switched back to Opensuse because it worked before and works now. Will keep in mind if I ever install Debian again.
When I added the contact form on my website, I wanted to add reCaptcha so it would protect me from spam emails and make it easier for people by not having to click on pictures of fire hydrants. Reading a little about the privacy concerns about reCaptcha, I dropped it all together. I am in the EU, have a small numbers of visitors, it’a B2B thing so it was not worth it.
I have been looking at it since I am fed up with Fire TV. Can you install it on any Linux distro? I thought it was for raspberry pi. I have an Intel Nuc running Opensuse
I was afraid that I wouldn’t like it when I bought it two days ago. Not because of quality issues or bugs. Just that I have kinda stopped playing fantasy games some time ago. It’s not all that appealing to me and even though I bought Divinity 2, I played 2-3 hours and realized it’s not for me.
BG3 is great, so much polish and it’s packed with features, can’t wait to fire it up again. Seeing the quality they manage to push out, I hope they will get hired to remake Fallout 1 and 2 in their style. That would be 🤯
The biggest problem with the whole Austria thing is that a few months before, they were ok with Romania joining, officially they didn’t have a thing to say. Then all of a sudden they went 180 degrees, so of course it raises a lot of eyebrows and a lot of theories appear.
So they found an “excuse” and started hammering about how many migrants cross the borders via Bulgaria/Romania and end up in Austria. When reporters asked them, ok but what about Croatia? At present time, the numbers of migrants sneaking via Croatia is significantly higher than from Bulgaria/Romania, why did you let them in Schengen? Their reply was almost always to change the subject or dodge the question.
Both Bulgaria/Romania fulfill all the requirements to join Schengen since 11 years now so yeah, take it as you want. Also, I don’t have the numbers/articles anymore(it was in December last year and I deleted all my Reddit posts/comments) but the numbers brought by Austria regarding migrants was proved to be faaaaar away from the truth and they were artificially pumped.
Because Romania is in the EU but it is not in Schengen, so you have to show your ID at the border EVERY TIME you enter/exit the country, same with Bulgaria.
If they would have crossed from Hungary to Austria, it would be no problem since both countries are in Schengen and no ID is necessary.
For this whole drama, the tourists can thank the Austrian gov since they vetoed Romania’s entry into Schengen last year even tho they fulfill all the requirements to do so.
It might be that English is not my first language but what I understand from your comment is that tourists should be ok for not knowing the laws when travelling between EU countries?
It’s true, many people from the west don’t think about Schengen, they take it for granted but businesses and to some extent normal people from Romania/Bulgaria suffer from not being in Schengen and nobody seems to slap Austria for this current situation.
Yes your assumption is right. However, I kinda know the story from both sides, Schengen and non-Schengen because I have a dual-citizenship(Gude 😊). Maybe that’s why for me is “not normal” and I pay attention to this but yes, I know what you mean with the airports.
Had an exchange of emails with someone, around 4-5 back and forth emails. He then told me that my last reply never arrived. When I forwarded that email again to him, he told me that actually the original reply arrived but landed in spam… he checked it after I forwarded the initial reply....
Wow this is invaluable, I would love to do that and contact you. I am in a busy period so that’s why it took longer to respond. I will most likely make the changes in 1-2 weeks. Is it ok if I DM you in 2 weeks or whenever I made the changes? Thanks!
