I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds

So I wasn’t sure which one of us misunderstood so I went to read on the French page, and it is indeed a scheme where people with low income can lease the car for 100€ per month, as in that’s what they’ll have to pay per month, rather than a discount on the price of a normal lease.
NIMBY for waste storage? You’d expect Canada to be one of the countries where that’s the least of the issues, what with having infinite land in the north.
For sure I understand it’s more tricky than just going out in the woods making a big pit and calling it a day (though the image I had in my mind was pretty close to that if I’m being honest). Just feels like there’s plenty of space far enough from anyone’s backyard but you make a good point about having to then supply that site.
Made me question where France was putting theirs and it’s in l’Aube, rural area but definitely not empty by any means. Except for the real nasty stuff that’s being temporarily kept by the producers on-site until they apparently plan to bury them in a deep geological argile formation (projet cigéo).
What I meant is the stuff they want to geologically bury are the very radioactive parts that are 0.2% of the volume but 95%+ of the radioactivity, that’s all.
I mean the whole rest of the world seems to manage just fine without these, and we have tradesmen as well? The cabins can be as clean or dirty as you need, I’ve seen everything, loading trash or debris is also fine. If you’re really carrying mostly gravel or other type of stuff like that then you’d have something specialized for that with a much bigger box than on your pickups, or rent it for the job.
But looking at your other comments in the thread I see that you’re just set in your ideas and just looking at finding justifications for niche cases where it might be a superior vehicle, which I don’t deny certainly exist, but that’s not the problem, the problem is these are a dime a dozen if not the majority on your roads, and they’re not at all good as normal vehicles whereas the vans are. Also they’re honestly just superior in pretty much every way, flat bottom, low load-in height, can accept pallets, stuff stays dry, locked, engines are efficient and not crazy oversize and gaz-guzzling, they have good viewing angles at the front (e.g. you would see a child in front of the vehicle), etc etc etc.
I think we do agree, it’s hard to tell sometimes haha. I base my view that they’re not needed by 99% of the population on the fact I see much less than 1% of them on our roads (thankfully) and everyone seems to be doing just fine.
I get it, they’re kind of a middle ground trying to do it all but it fails at doing so imo and in the process, creates dangerous and polluting vehicles, compounded by the fact they’re getting bought on whim or as social status but then never see the use they’re supposed to be made for, just terrible all around.
But indeed I don’t deny they can be good specialized vehicles, I just think these cases are <1% of the population like if you’re chasing bears in the arctic or something, and certainly trades people etc would generally not need them and be better served by alternatives.
I use cameras for a living and basically never shoot anything for fun anymore (if anything I’m shooting for my portfolio if I’m not getting paid), because there’s just no joy in it anymore, but landscapes are the exception I’ll always feel happy with getting photos of footage of the beautiful places I visit.
Interesting, didn’t realize Italy and these Balkans countries had it, I actually did know about Spain should’ve included in list.
Still, we’re a far cry away from having it properly legalized, most countries would still require you to have connections with dealers etc which imo is the big one.
Even Netherlands where you can buy it over the counter no questions asked, it’s still illegal up until the point it magically appears in the coffeeshop.
Still, with Germany looking like they’ll fully legalize Canada style, that’s a good sign the rest will be able to follow since daddy Germany did it.
Oh for sure, it will make it regulated and maybe more expensive, and it will get eaten up by capitalism, but still I think it’s way better that we get rid of stupid anti-drugs legislations that only serve to marginalize people and enable nasty criminal supply chains.
The good thing with weed though is that as long as it’s legalized, then that means you can just grow your own and I’m not sure what regulations could do about that.
Can’t see that anywhere on the wiki link but searching directly I see that’s the Swiss rule. I also see simple possession was reduced to fines. Bit cheeky if they include countries with such rule as decriminalised, which is making my point that there’s still a long way to go in Europe.

Yep in Italy is dirt cheap but the further away you go the more the American style stays cheap while the Italian style becomes “gourmet” and gets more expensive.

More context needed though I guess by the sheer fact the husband got mad we can infere she would expect it and it’s not a matter of “oops I forgot because this happens all the time” kind of thing.
This is post-hipster. Hipster would have cheese made from the milk of a specific goat you only find in one specific mountain in Peru, the bread would be sourdough baked right there in the truck and there’s a choice of 23 different toppings.
I’ll happily participate with light-hearted content but otherwise I mostly feel like you when it comes to any polarising topics like politics, etc. I wish there were more content about my areas of expertise so I could participate in that but alas there’s mostly developer stuff only. Maybe I’m also not doing my best curating my feed since I tend to mostly browse all.
Really cheap bikes is the Dutch way, you buy it for 20€ from your local bike thief and when it gets stolen you get another one. It’s a circular economy really.
