The people behind those reverse engineered servers are legends. I recently was able to play through the original Demon’s Souls with fully working multiplayer which just blew my mind

NotSteve_,

The problem is that all their money comes from Google and that’s a very poor position for them to be in. If they want to be independent and not at the mercy of Google, they need to find other means of funding.

Not a fan of the AI stuff but if it can loosen Google’s grip on Mozilla, I’m all for it

NotSteve_,

Most places with these bans will allow delivery vehicles and food trucks through. Same goes for emergency vehicles

NotSteve_,

It still calls itself an MMO in its Steam description:

The Day Before offers players a uniquely reimagined journey into post-apocalyptic open-world MMO survival set in the present day on the US East Coast following a deadly pandemic.

NotSteve_,

Manjaro Linux with GNOME on my personal desktop. Used to do Arch with bspwm way back but don’t really want to put in the time configuring things anymore

I’m using a Macbook Pro with Mac OS Sanoma for my work laptop

NotSteve_,

I was in the top 0.1% of the band Remember Sports

Apparently my top genre is bubblegrunge which is a term I’ve never heard of

NotSteve_,

Haha yeah. I understand some music doesn’t fall nicely under the classic genres but Spotify’s labelling is a bit excessive

NotSteve_,

Totally agree

NotSteve_,

You won’t soon if you don’t migrate your account

NotSteve_,

I don’t even get how you’re supposed to do that without trial&erroring melting enough in the microwave. I know butter has the measurements written on the side (in Canada/USA at least) but it doesn’t help if you don’t have a fresh stick of butter

NotSteve_,

I find cross posting between the communities here kind of annoying tbh. I end up getting a lot of duplicate posts because I subscribe to both like OP suggested

NotSteve_,

Oh maybe you do. Maybe I’m just seeing posts people have manually posted across multiple subs

NotSteve_,

You did until recently. The devs removed it though to discourage point farming accounts. Your new app might just be calculating the points manually by tallying all of your posts

NotSteve_,

Oh for real? I thought they removed it from their API too

NotSteve_,

Well shit I just bought one for the first time in a while

NotSteve_,

Haha I haven’t cracked it open yet. It’ll probably be going in the trash though unfortunately

NotSteve_,

You can tell it’s old by the amount in rent 🥲

NotSteve_,

I started using RSS but mostly to keep up with my city’s subreddit. The city sub here isn’t popular enough to be up to date with the latest news

NotSteve_,

This is why I get French localised ads living on the Ontario border of Quebec

NotSteve_,

This is how I use my TV but it’s still not perfect. When my TV turns on, it always try to shove a list of “smart apps” in my face which takes a minute to load even with no internet, and the input switcher is slow and clunky. I guess I would accept it anyway though since the smart features push down the price. I don’t think I’d be able to afford the LG C1 otherwise

NotSteve_,

We have it here too. Loblaws sometimes has shopping carts that lock their wheel if they travel too far from the property. It’s an anti-shopping cart theft thing

NotSteve_,

How do you accidentally force push lol

NotSteve_,

Danny “The Trashman” Devito

NotSteve_,

I think Windows was built in house but on top of DOS which Bill Gates bought off someone

NotSteve_,

Not a poem I’ve heard in a long time but one I always welcome hearing

NotSteve_,

That actually made me like insta coffee a tiny bit more just for being so cool

NotSteve_,

I thought this was just my phone. It never works for me

NotSteve_,

I played through Demon’s Souls on a ps3 emulator and then the PS5 version. The PS3 version with a 60fps+1440p mod is great but the new version is still worth getting a PS5 for imo

NotSteve_,

Are you talking about the unified titlebar? That’s a design trend that’s being used in every operating system including Windows, Mac OS and most Linux desktop environments.

NotSteve_,

To add to that, a used ThinkPad can be really good even under $500. Companies mass buy and replace them so they get sold for really cheap considering their specs

NotSteve_,

They tried it before with the Steam Machine but it never really took off. I’d love if they made a second attempt with all they’ve learned from the Deck though

NotSteve_,

I work from home now but when I did commute, it was 1.5hrs of bus from a suburb to another city across the river. In total I’d have a 3 hour commute a day and returning home, the bus would be so full I’d be pressed up against the window unable to move.

Very happy to not commute anymore, but even if I did have to again, I live downtown now so I’d be able to do a quick walk or bike.

NotSteve_,

Do you have enhanced tracking protection on? Knowing Microsoft you might need to disable it for teams to work right

NotSteve_,

I feel like you guys would just end up in a constant election cycle

NotSteve_,

From what I’ve heard, it’s to give companies time to prep for downtime to patch. If they just released the fix now, companies would have to scramble to deal with unexpected downtime.

I believe package maintainers have also been given the fix early to prepare it for release. That means there’s no waiting for Ubuntu or whoever to have the update available.

NotSteve_,

Encrypted Client Hello is something I’d come up with if I was trying to wildly guess an acronym haha

NotSteve_,

If you’re going the vim route I’d go with NeoVim. The lua support for plugins has resulted in some really great IDE-like plugins. That being said, I still prefer VScode with vim mode.

There’s actually a cool plugin for VSCode that lets you bridge NeoVim into it if you want the best of both worlds

NotSteve_,

I like old fashion knobs and buttons but also can’t afford a car from later than 2012 lol

NotSteve_,

Is the lack of dual monitor support only for the M1? I have an M1 Pro MBP for a work computer and it works fine with two monitors + the laptop screen

NotSteve_,

I’m happy Canada doesn’t really care about pirating. I have a VPN setup but it’s just set to a city a few hours from me for a bit of extra precaution.

Also you don’t need a VPN for Usenet :)

NotSteve_,

I liked Google surveys when I had an Android phone. I did a survey here and there and it would pay for my Duolingo subscription

NotSteve_,

Oh yeah you’re right. In that case, I’m not surprised Surveys is dead. I had never heard of that one

NotSteve_,

The Minecraft wiki used to be it’s own thing before moving to Fandom didn’t it? Either way, very happy about this

NotSteve_,

I have hair passed my shoulders and hair getting in my eyes was only a problem when it was above my shoulders. Keep growing it and it’ll become less of a problem. I know that’s not really a solution for now but just a heads up

NotSteve_,

Performance improvements in lower city! Hopefully that means I won’t only get 30fps there anymore

NotSteve_,

Yeah I joined reddit around 12 years ago and Lemmy feels more like how it was back then. I do miss the more niche subreddits but we’ll get there eventually

NotSteve_,

I’m chaotic neutral too but I don’t code on the diagonal monitor. I only have it diagonal because my neck hurts looking at the side screen if I have them both horizontal lol
