Another player who was at the table during the incident sent me this meme after the problem player in question (they had a history) left the group chat....
Unfortunately not everyone uses them, and we shouldn’t ignore shitty business practices just because we personally avoid them.
Regardless, it doesn’t matter if you use an adblocker or not. Their website layout is fucking horrendous and 80% of your screen is completely wasted. I mean, take a look at that very Fandom page on a full-screen browser. Anything highlighted red is shit I don’t give a single fuck about. Now take a look at exactly the same page on AntiFandom (without an adblocker). Fandom is incredibly wasteful of space, autoplays videos and streams on their website, completely fills their websites with ads, and doesn’t give a damn about the user. The sooner we all collectively drop it for better alternatives (like Wiki.gg), the better.
Edit: forgot to mention, it’s also basically impossible to close a fandom wiki. They won’t even let you leave. You could stop updating it and move to a different site, sure, but as Terraria has shown, even officially announcing your new wiki isn’t enough to become the top search result even after nearly 2 years. Meaning people will keep visiting fandom and keep seeing outdated information all the while.
In the meantime, I’d recommend anybody that ends up on fandom on the PC to install an extension like LibRedirect to automatically redirect fandom links to breezewiki or antifandom.
Speaking of Terraria wikis, thought I’d put it out there to stop using fandom for Terraria. While their wiki on Fandom is indeed better than most, wiki.gg is the official (and imo far superior) alternative. The fandom wiki is no longer up to date, and the longer people use fandom for Terraria, the longer it will take for the official one to start showing up first in search results.
Edit: actually, I believe I misremembered. I don’t think terraria’s fandom page is outdated, so that’s more of a personal preference choice. Rather, what I was remembering is that several of the big mods like Thorium and Calamity switched over to wiki.gg and their pages are indeed outdated on fandom. I do still believe the official wiki is a better experience and recommend switching though.
Battle passes are fine when done right. Deep Rock Galactic, for example, adds all the cosmetics from the pass into the random loot pool after the season ends.
Most battle passes fucking suck though. Like in overwatch where you pay for the privilege of unlocking things through dozens of hours of gameplay.
I don’t play the game a ton anymore, but back when I was super into it, I bought all four of the DLC out at the time for that exact reason. I rarely even use the cosmetics included, I just think the devs are awesome.
So you’re against unlocking things through play? Stay away from the rouge-like genre then, you would hate it.
Just about any game that is designed to be played more than once (i.e. not story games like the Witcher) will have some sort of in-game rewards to keep it fresh. Like the Binding of Isaac where you have over a thousand different items to unlock through gameplay. But live service games need a way to keep their game fresh for even longer than most. Themed unlockable cosmetics are a great way to do it. As long as they’re not capitalizing on FOMO, I do not see any problem with it.
Yeah, I disagree completely and I don’t think we’re going to see eye to eye on this lol. If I complete a mission in Deep Rock Galactic and am awarded a random cosmetic, I can’t see how that’s better than gaining EXP for a battle pass and unlocking a reward I actually want. Especially when there is no way to buy battle pass tiers (so no time-gated pressure to spend money for a cosmetic you really want) and the loot is mixed into the other loot pools at the end of the season anyway (so no FOMO).
…is better than unlocking new skins in DOOM Eternal because you played (not won or lost, just played) the same level enough times over to have “earned” them
Also, in DRG, the vast majority of both your regular and battle pass EXP come from successfully completing missions. You might get a hat or two if you play and lose a hundred games (you still get a tiny amount of EXP for enemy kills and stuff), but the vast majority of all your battle pass loot is obtained after actually winning games. So that’s not even relevant for this game.
The only negative thing I will say about battle passes as a concept is that they’re currently in every fucking game ever. Just like loot boxes, one person thought up a neat idea and everybody else and their mother hopped on board and are riding that shit to hell and back. Really doesn’t encourage innovation.
Lawyers for Newport News Public Schools had tried to block the lawsuit, arguing that Zwerner was eligible only for workers’ compensation. It provides up to nearly 10 years pay and lifetime medical care for injuries.
Zwerner’s attorneys countered that workers’ compensation doesn’t apply because a first-grade teacher would never anticipate getting shot: “It was not an actual risk of her job.”
This is the good bit though:
“The actual risk of employment in this scenario is that of a teacher being injured at the hands of a student which, unfortunately, is a fairly common occurrence and one that is only increasing in frequency this day and age,” school board attorney Anne Lahren said in a statement.
No, sorry, I probably shouldn’t have included that part of the quote. Zwerner is the teacher that got shot, that’s her attorneys arguing that. The school is trying to claim it is an unfortunate but common occurrence.
In an interview for 60 Minutes, CBS News chief medical correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook posed that question to Linsey Marr, a Virginia Tech University professor specializing in aerosol science....
Yeah… you’ve either got people who absolutely refuse to believe masks are effective, or you’ve got people that are so done with the whole thing that they just don’t care anymore. Hearing an expert say they work isn’t going to convince either of these groups to wear them.
I’m sure I could come up with a better list of I really thought about it, but (in this order) Terraria, Minecraft, and Portal 2. Honorable mentions to Deep Rock Galactic and The Binding of Isaac Rebirth.
Man, I sure do love it when our all-loving God does everything in his power to trick non-believers into further doubt so they burn in hell for eternity!
I think the first note was fine. It’s definitely going to be a spot of confusion for a lot of people. I agree that the rest were largely unnecessary though.
A few days ago I sent a GDPR request to some company to delete my personal data. They said to install their app and send a ticket from the app. The email was sent from the email address to which the account is registered. Is this even legal?
I tried it once after seeing loads of memes like this. Admittedly, it felt pretty good. But then post-nut clarity kicked in and I realized I was left with a gross-ass sock and just ended up throwing it away. 0/10, would not recommend.
And even after doing it myself once, I’ve still never understood the “cum sock” that implies you do it multiple times in a single sock and keep said sock around… that’s just fucking disgusting.
Enough for me to be disgusted by the action. I cannot believe how many of you are currently justifying the beheading of babies just because the other side has also killed them. Maybe we can just agree it’s bad no matter who does it?
Edit: huh, who knew not wanting babies beheaded was a hot take around here?
A source is completely irrelevant in this particular discussion. If it didn’t actually happen, that’s great! But you already tried justifying it, and that’s what I’m criticizing.
Unless I misinterpreted you? Your last comment to me read as (paraphrasing) “the other side has done worse things so it’s not that big of a deal”.
As others mentioned, there are ways to disable all of this shit incredibly easily. ShutUp10++ is my personal choice for debloating Windows 10 & 11. Now, should it need to be done in the first place? No, but I’d say installing the program is easier than learning a whole new operating system.
[A]n INI configuration file in the Windows Canary channel, discovered by German website Deskmodder, includes references to a “Subscription Edition,” “Subscription Type,” and a “subscription status.”
Remove the bloatware with a free program like ShutUp10++, and Windows is a fine OS. Linux may very well be better still, but better enough to go through the effort of switching over, reinstalling everything, relearning everything, finding alternatives to programs, etc.? I doubt it. Not for me at least.
Personally, if I were being a dick for whatever reason and knew I was right, the thing that would absolutely make my day would be seeing them trying to double down and make some shit up despite getting caught being wrong. Even better if you ghost me. It means I’ve won and you’re being immature about it.
But if somebody actually admitted they were wrong but points out I was being a shithead about it? Then I’d feel bad.
They’re actually currently working on the final final final final final final update, Every update from 1.4.0.1 through 1.4.5 were all supposed to be the final updates lol.

I’m able to read it easily if I squint really hard, to the point that my eyes are nearly closed. Alternatively, it’s clear as day when I just look at the thumbnail.
Acknowledging the fact that politics exist is not inherently political. Please explain how that third meme is even remotely political?
Regardless, the lack of a clear and simple political-or-not binary is not an excuse to avoid moderation. The political nature of some things will be argued and some things will slip through the cracks. It happens with all spectrums. But on the other hand, some things are so clearly political that it’s nigh impossible to argue they’re not. I’m sure you can see the massive difference in a meme about Microsoft shoes and a meme about Trump or Biden bad. Those clear extremely political memes are the ones people want banned to their own communities.
And to be clear, I actually like political memes. I just find your rebuttal to be in bad taste.
