Edit: Is streamdeck on linux just trash? (discuss.tchncs.de)

Edit: As of five minutes ago, I am aware that there is no official ui for the elgato stream deck which is a huge disservice to the users of this expensive piece of hardware. I was under the impression that streamdeck-ui was the official (and very outdated) official version, which is false. Those who bothered to explain this,...

Sadly not uncommon for Linux, many companies dont care cause there’s no money in it. Thankfully we got awesome community

Do you think i’d like the game as a hardcore rimworld fan? I like how accessible RW is, yet very unforgiving, i like the amount of freedom i have and how important pawns are, how i can be on the brink of a game over for HOURS but still bounce back. Is this anything like that?

I dont know anyones who has played it and money’s tight so asking for random’s opinion

@NabeGewell@lemmy.world avatar

Oh this is done for the money. What wouldve been better is age restriction to the whole net, hopefully finding a way to make parents responsible for their children and what they do. But that means way less views and traffic for ads. Yes there’s “YT Kids” and such but what being on the internet has taught me is absolutely every type of online service can be exploited and attacked.

How would they fine them again later if they ban them :)

Windows pc calling home (even while asleep) (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

I have a network-wide pi hole and I noticed that it requested activity.windows.com, a url blocked by my pi hole, even while my pc is suspended. I pinged 10.0.0.217 and it is currently unreachable. So, somehow, windows pc’s turn on networking, phones home, and turns off even while suspended....

How dare you not allow Microsoft use their PC

It also works through the net, which some people don’t know about. It used to be LAN only at first

By your logic it was my school that wanted us to learn MS products, not Microsoft. Are you sure about that?

NabeGewell,
@NabeGewell@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t get your point, what does Intune have to do with the topic?

NabeGewell,
@NabeGewell@lemmy.world avatar

Right, back on track. I’m sure a company wouldn’t use, and require their employees use a program unless people in charge are already familiar with said product or there was a deal made for them. I don’t know where the guy works but I’m sure that’s a safe bet, my point is Microsoft is known to make deals with schools/uni to teach only their products instead of alternatives. It’s why their products are so used - why learn something new when what you’ve been taught does the job

Well it’s better than Chrome’s if you don’t sync to your account, however I’d recommend you local password manager such as keepass

Lmao “Cops sell drugs now” :D

You can connect any controller really. Either via Bluetooth or cable (you’d need to buy a dongle for cable controllers tho).

As for which version, I’d say go with 256 and get MicroSD card if you need more space. That is, unless buying the 512 model would be cheaper than 256gb model + 256gb card, then I’d recommend you 512 model

One of my favorite episodes so far!

As a Windows user, I think the easiest software we can compare it to is NET Framework redistributables - your PC would need that to run some programs, otherwise it won’t understand them. Just like how Linux needs Wine (Proton) to understand and run Windows software. People kinda answered everything else

How is Resident Evil 7?

I really enjoyed the RE:2 remake but for some reason I haven’t been interested in getting over the difficulty curve of RE:4. RE:7 seems to be a much similar slow paced trip through an unfolding building and I wanted peoples opinions of the game and its current level of performance on the deck. I really enjoy 60 fps but I can...

NabeGewell,
@NabeGewell@lemmy.world avatar

Re7 is very different, I didn’t like it as much because of that.

RE3 should be the next choice imo

5 star overall rating in Google play, well deserved. I can’t check the free ver cause it’s hidden from store. I hope dev would try making Lemmy is fun as well some day :D

Update: if anyone’s wondering, free ver sits at 4.8, i found it cause i had left a review on it

Cities Skylines cause I’m hyped for C:S2. Also started and finished Layers of Fear 2, great game!

To make it cheaper I assume, I think it released around/after the SNES so it was like a ‘NES slim’, ig since Nintendo is Japanese company they went all-in for their version

First the hardware can survive at over 90 degrees without any issues and it can save itself if it gets dangerous, second I don’t think you’d want better cooling, not like this at least - there are other parts that need to be cooled that don’t have temperature sensors on them, and making the fan run at lower speeds might be a bad idea. However, third, cooling fans positioned like this (which this apparently isnt?) are worthless, cooling off the plastic cover is hard enough for them which doesn’t do much for the hardware itself.

Respecting the designed airflow (which imo is important) I think you’d have better results for your money if you play the Deck in front of a fan lol, that way lower temp air will be pushed on the intakes and you’d be kept cool as well.

Would reporting it actually do anything? Other than them just moving to Gitlab, I don’t know why publishing this anywhere was even needed by them

NabeGewell,
@NabeGewell@lemmy.world avatar

I wish I did that, with all the “”“respect”“” I had in some of them. I decided to be boring and just deleted everything (first editing it to “fuck u/spez” or something like that) and closed the account
