Klystron,

No, just like soccer is not called football here. Sometimes things are different in other places.

Klystron,

My shit would’ve been confiscated so fast if I brought my Gameboy to school, holy shit. And then I’d be grounded from it for the next year lol. Blew my mind when I heard phones are like totally allowed in schools nowadays. Even if I did have a gameboy with me though idk when I would’ve had time to play it. I guess during lunch but again that’s when teachers were on the prowl. I do remember I had summer school one year and Mr. P did not give a FUCK lol. So I played Mario kart ds download play all summer with some of the kids and got an A lol. Good times.

Klystron,

Hey, I take offense to that! I’m going to write a vitriolic response to your seemingly-normal-but-different-viewpoint-than-mine opinion where I’ll use non-applicable slurs and misinformation and then call you dumb if you post a sensible reply!

Pixel fold

It’ll need to fold

Klystron,

OH MY GOD, starfield just leaked, I bet Bill Gates is crying right now, only I can help him 😢

Google sets its Pixel 8 launch event for October 4th (www.theverge.com)

We’ll meet Google’s newest Pixel devices in just over a month now that the company is sending out invitations for an in-person launch event on Wednesday, October 4th, at 10AM ET in New York City. The invites are going out just one day after Apple invited the media and others to check out its iPhone 15 hardware at an event on...

Klystron,

I hope they have finally developed the technology to sync phone and watch alarms. I think as a society we are ready for that.

Klystron,

It blows my mind talking to my grandpa. His first question is how was traffic and the next is how did I get there. Then he’ll say well next time take the 5 for 3.9 miles, then hop on 78 until you see the 420 then do a triple lane change to the 69 then you’re home. And then I’m like sure thing grandpa I’ll remember that for sure, as I’m tapping the home button on google maps lol.

Klystron,

I had never seen that before… It’s so accurate lmfao

Klystron,

Freedom to manipulate and trick our consumers motherfucker 🦅

Klystron, (edited )

Damn. Last case I bought from them was my lg g3 lol. Idk why I remember that.

EDIT: Found it, lmao. If anyone’s still rocking their lg g3 pick this one up, it’s 🔥

Klystron,

Naked, as always. I have the fold and with them being as big as they are already I don’t need to make it any more unmanageable. Even still, I haven’t used a case in years.

Klystron,

Coming from the z fold to this one, I definitely use the inner screen less, and that’s Google’s fault. The z folds outer screen is nice for just quick stuff but that’s about it, forcing you to open it up. Once you do, the experience completely changes and it’s magical. Samsung forces apps to full screen and with the phones default orientation being portrait, I basically have never had an app not look decent. Poorly optimized with a bit of white space? Sure. But all in all everything worked great on the phone and I loved every second of it.

Now Google’s approach is quite a bit different. With its default orientation being landscape, that puts the onus completely on developers to create brand new interfaces for their apps with a focus on the horizontal. That is SUCH a harder task to deal with than Samsung’s approach of just forcing things to fill. I’d say maybe 50% of the apps I use just don’t support landscape at all and have massive black bars. Another 30% “support” landscape by just filling things out with white space. The last 20% are optimized for foldables and they are a joy to use.

Ultimately, I’m not sure who has the right set up, or if there even is one. Samsung’s version is definitely a lot easier to work with, since most apps “just work.” But that comes at the cost of having the ridiculous cover screen and never really taking advantage of the landscape side of things. Google has the sexy passport thing going on but only has its own apps and like three others that actually use it right. Maybe one day google can take its role as developer of an ecosystem seriously and actually push itself and other developers commit to supporting foldables (LOL yeah right).

I’m enjoying it so far but I won’t lie; I did get cold feet for a while and almost returned it and kept my z fold 4. The battery was pretty rough for the first few days and the phone was getting HOT just like browsing lemmy and watching YouTube. But I upgraded to android 14 beta and now I’m getting shit like this, which is incredible considering I’d MAYBE get 5 hours of screen on time with my z fold 4. The heating problems went away too so I basically don’t have any complaints now.

When next year’s phones come out I’ll probably swap back to the z fold unless google does something incredible with gen 2. I just don’t see them being capable of supporting an ecosystem like this in the long term and would rather bet on Samsung. And if Samsung can finally jam that s-pen inside of the z fold 6 it’s pretty much gg.

Klystron,

Some have told me that, but they always just waive it for me. How does registering work? They have like a database of everyone who’s verified as a vet?

Klystron,

There was a thread on the android community recently about that, I think. If you want to dig through there. I think the consensus though was that it is pretty hard to replace.

Klystron,

Sounds like you got what you needed, but here’s the link anyway.

Klystron,

How about you don’t charge $350 so I can watch the cowboys suck ass for 17 games, goodell. The cowboys are a huge market so for the most part I can get by pretty easy but I can’t imagine how much it sucks to be like an out of state Titans fan.

Klystron,

Exactly what my dad said when I tried to teach him about pirating media lol

Klystron,

Giving the rest of us a bad name; I could literally just stand in the shower for like 30 minutes, I love the hot water.

Klystron,

Just cut out reddit unless it’s information you legitimately need to know. Every time you’re mindlessly scrolling on lemmy and not seeing content and thinking to yourself, “I bet reddit would be better right now,” just turn off your phone and read a book. I’ve cut wayyy down on my phone time since I swapped and that can only be a good thing.

Klystron,

Thanks to all the step dads out there, they really do step up. I honestly can’t imagine the direction my life would’ve taken it it wasn’t for my dad. Love you pops.

Klystron,

My grandma carried fresh jalapeno peppers in her purse for years so when she went out to eat she had something spicy too. That’s the story of how I ended up eating jalapenos with every meal.

Klystron,

I joined and a lot of the people from conservative states said that they had a day in high school where they were mandated to take the asvab. I’m originally from CA and had never heard that, I basically had zero idea of anything about entrance requirements for the military until I walked into the recruiters office for the first time. Pretty crazy.

Klystron,

Alright, time to scan every page and upload it

Klystron,

I was iPhone only from whenever the pixel 1 launched until the 12 pro max. I had a nexus 6p when the pixel 1 happened and was pumped for the next nexus and then got pissed at what Google replaced the nexus lineup with. So I jumped ship and was very happy with apple for a while. iOS has matured a lot and now lets you do a lot of things android does; widgets, always on display, USB c soon, file explorer. That’s not to mention the ecosystem; airpods are incredible to use, apple watch is so much better than android wear, everything syncing and It Just Working ®. The thing that ultimately got me to switch was the z fold 3. I believe foldables are 100% the future and using one for the past 2 years now has been incredible. I actually bought a 14 pro max just to try going back but it just wasn’t the same at all. Apple is still really good and I understand why people cling to it so much. When I was younger green bubble hate was a legit thing if you weren’t a nerd so that social pressure helps. Ultimately the flexibility that android offers is what’s worth it for me but if apple makes a foldable I’d definitely be tempted to come back.

I wrote this very drunk so I apologize if this stream of consciousness text makes no sense. I just get very enthused when I can somehow segue a conversation back to foldables👍

Klystron,

This has to be the most unpopular opinion ever considering how much is invested into phone’s cameras, but holy shit do I hate phone’s cameras. To me it is such a monumental waste of resources; the average user cannot tell the difference, every phone ever now has a huge camera bump, and social media just compresses everything to shit anyway so there is no way to even tell how good a photo actually is. Before smart phones were a thing, no one except actual, dedicated photographers had anything better than maybe a shitty disposable camera on them. Now every phone ever, and especially the high end flagships, seem to make the camera the end all be all of features. I would pay extra to have a camera from four years ago and have my phone not have a bump… Because 99% of people couldn’t tell the difference anyway.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. There are cookies by the exit and please be sure to sign my change.org petition before you leave as well.

Klystron,

Very true, but like the other guy I have a foldable. They’re pretty big phones already so I don’t use a case with mine since it’d make it even bigger and unwieldy.

Klystron,

Lol wtf how is this legal? I just typed in office space and it started playing

Klystron,

Lol idk how removing ads and just rehosting the video is a gray area but whatever works for me… I figured when I first clicked on it, it was like a watch party kind of thing. Like I post a video file then whoever I want can watch it with me… Not just pulling video files from other sites lol. Still, seems cool and is super slick

Klystron,

Just sad that’s what the Internet has come to, microtransactions for using an app for a website that just aggregates links. Not to mention reddit has already gimped your third party access with the NSFW stuff and I’m sure more is on its way. Fuuuuuck off reddit

Klystron,

Sounds like we have a bunch of ewaste coming our way soon

Klystron,

Hoping one day there’s parity between steam and gog… That’d be sweet

Klystron,

Yeah imo it’s a pretty bullshit take to say what xalavier did. Like no shit not every new RPG is gonna be to the same quality as bg3 but is that us as the consumer’s fault? We’re supposed to just ignore bg3 and be happy with the status quo? When has being stagnant ever been good for anyone, ever? Fuck off and just make a good game and no one will complain

Klystron,

Easiest is dd/mmm/yyyy. Use it for literally everything. Doesn’t work great on the computer but well enough.

How many calories does a standard whole blood donation burn?

So I just went and donated blood again and durring the recovery period it occured to me that it takes quite a bit of work for your body to regenerate that lost blood volume and the actual blood cells. Regrowing that many cells seems like it would be fairly energetically intensive. So how many calories does producing all those...

Klystron,

If you’re however old you are now and still not a blood making machine, I’d say see a doctor.

Klystron,

My z fold does that, is that not an android feature? It stops at 80 until like an hour before I wake up. My schedule is fucked too, asleep at 7pm to wake up at 3.

Klystron,

The vtuber genre says hello

Klystron,

How do the Germans always win

Klystron,

Predictive back seems cool. That’s about it

Klystron,

If you like turn based RPGs or heavily narrative driven stories, sure. DND is just the setting, if you’ve played final fantasy or something you’ll be fine.

Klystron,

Literally go fuck yourself Microsoft.

Klystron,

Sync, then infinity, liftoff, thunder, and then just kinda all the rest. Voyager is fine but way too apolloy which I never liked. The fact it has a web app is cool though.

Klystron,

I think sync does that already? If you hit the overflow menu in a post there’s a filter button, which let’s you hide either the user, the community, or the whole instance.
