I watch forsen a lot on twitch, and his chat streams at a hundred messages a second so no one will ever see your individual chat. It’s awesome because it’s like a hive mind at work. Everyone is spamming one emote, and then something on stream happens and then every single chatter simultaneously starts spamming another emote in reaction to that. It’s fun.
For me smaller streams aren’t fun because everything’s (generalizing here) super moderated. No unrelated chat, nothing negative, no backseat gaming, etc. It’s basically post something positive about the streamer or the game and that’s it. Of course if you’re watching your buddy with three other guys not applicable.
Green/blue bubbles is just a simple way to say sms sucks. Besides those stories about teens getting social pressured, all anyone cares about is basically just sending photos that don’t look like they were taken 20 years ago.
An argument I’ve heard against it is that it’s overly harmful against non-western religions, specifically Islam. A pretty common tenet in Islam is some kind of head covering for woman. Banning that is a pretty sweeping reform. Christianity and Catholicism don’t have anything like that, and if you really wanted to wear a cross you could just hide a necklace under your shirt. And Judaism, most non -orthodox Jews don’t wear a yamaka 24/7. So in the end (typical) white religions aren’t affected while minorities are.
Personally for me I don’t care about wearing a religious symbol as long as you’re not pushing your agenda. I don’t care if my boss has a Bible on his desk any more than if he had a copy of dragon Ball z.
I fucking loved this game. I “acquired” it one night just to see how it was and ended up getting completely wrapped up in it and played through to the morning. Immediately bought the whole game next day. Not sure how updates and stuff are but the core gameplay is so much fun.
Well to balance that out indie games are normally a lot cheaper. Underrail is only $9 off on GoG but that’s a 60% discount. It’s rare to get a kinda modern AAA game that cheap.
Fuck I miss that $5 hot n ready. When I was younger picking that up with some crazy bread and heading back to my dorm to watch some football was my favorite Sunday pastime 😭
Here’s an article by The Verge for a quick run down on what’s different. Sounds like basically everything got a slight face lift, however not enough to warrant the Steam Deck 2 moniker. Better battery, slightly better chip, better cooling, Wifi 6E, and more… Sounds like a no-brainer to buy this one over last “gen.” Not quite enough for a straight up upgrade for me though.
The issue with the fold is that it opens into a tablet from factor that Android has notoriously been awful at supporting. Even after the release of their new tablet and now the fold their support is severely lacking. Ive owned both the pixel and Galaxy fold and experience wise the Galaxy fold is vastly superior. Just the fact that whenever you open the phone it’s defaults to a portrait mode means 99% of apps “just work” and the ones that support a tablet ui get 10x better. As cool as the passport form factor is and how bad (to some, not me) the Galaxy’s super thin design is, the pixel fold just cannot compete due to Google’s failings in gathering support for tablets. I ditched my pixel fold for my old Galaxy fold and couldn’t be happier.
I don’t think there’s not an audience however; old people who want a bigger screen, people addicted to their phone, kids for big screen gaming, all great examples of how foldables succeed. I honestly think most of the hate for them comes from the fact that they’re big and bulky, especially from a userbase like Lemmy, which from what I’ve seen are predisposed to small phones. I think if every carrier just gave out a Galaxy fold then everyone who didn’t care about a small form factor would fall in love. I sincerely believe that they are the future and am dying for apple to release one, since that’ll be the nail in the coffin for traditional slabs.
Yeah I feel you that was me for a while. Eventually I said enough was enough and every time I came across a service that was linked to my Gmail I unlinked and made a new account. It doesn’t have to be all at once, slow and steady wins the race too.
There’s alternatives for all of that, why are you stuck on Google? You could create a new email on a different site or host your own and there would be no differences between it and a gmail account. For photo services you could build a nas that has auto backup and never pay a penny again to Google. I understand they are pervasive in the modern world so it’s hard to escape but there’s always options.
