Yes, it has no implicit conversions like JS or R. It does, however, allow you to not specify the type of a variable and even change it without complaining. Even if you add types these are only hints that won’t generate errors unless you use external type checking (e.g. mypy).
Chromium means Google gets to decide what internet standards get implemented. The existance of alternative engines (like the one Firefox uses) means that there is still some democratic control. If you care about the internet, don’t use a chromium-based browser.
This seems a little exaggerated. For example, over 10k games are Steam Deck playable/verified. About 75% of the games that were tested were compatible with the Steam Deck, so probably many more will follow. Also, all emulators work on Linux too and sometimes even better than on Windows. The number of games that are available to you on Linux is simply massive.
EU has done really well on passing big laws such as GDPR in the recent years, while the US can’t even seem to decide whether to fund their own government. Why do you think Europe is doing better than the US? One would think that since EU is more diverse it would be harder to find common ground. And there were examples of that...
EU is more defensive and protectionist because our companies are a lot smaller due to a more fragmented internal market, more regulation, and getting damaged/destroyed in WW2. Notice that this all hits big tech and that the EU has nothing similar on this front. I don’t think the EU capital owners would push for this otherwise and that is basically all the EU listens to. A nice side effect is that it usually is actually good regulation to protect their citizens.
Is it an ntfs partition that you opened on Windows? I remember getting an error like that cause Windows does some weird permission things. Other than that I’d try with the command line or a different file manager to try and discover what the error is.
the more i am delving into things, the dell documentations are saying that the two really aren’t compatible except for like an outdated version of ubuntu… I never even thought about this, but looking back in time, I’ve tried many distros and the all have had some sort of internal issues that I couldn’t figure out and had...
9520, everything works but the trackpad sometimes has terrible lag. It’s a common issue, some also report it on Windows. Don’t care enough to ask IT to replace it.
Exactly! I would consider myself a fairly manly man. I was into bodybuilding for a while and it still shows. I also empathise with your struggle with sexual desire. It is something I have, and still struggle with too. Good that you found a therapist and best wishes for the future!
Yeah, I was wondering if people did. Reactions is what is part of what scares me to even find out though. Seeing how brave others are on here though certainlh helps.
There are quite a few mainstream series and movies that touched upon the subject (albeit mostly poorly). So in that regard most people will have at least thought about it once. Probably not for long though.
Experimentation does sound like a good next step (in addition to finding a therapist). I think I was too internally blocked to even consider experimenting with these things.
So, based on the answers I got I realized that I am most likely trans. Therefore, I started experimenting:
Trying on make up
Trying on female clothes
Removing body hair
Using feminine body language
All of these things felt incredibly natural and helped me understand that, yes, I am transgender. I started HRT this week and I was really excited when I could start. I’ve been denying this part of my identity for decades and finally being able to embrace that part of myself feels really euphoric.
I don’t know how this feels for you, a low sex drive could have many causes, but reading through the replies on this post and actively experimenting really helped me narrow this down. One of the kind people here recommended genderdysphoria.fyi/en/, which was also a great resource.
nobaraproject.orgThere is really no reason not to try. You can just try a bootable USB first to see if Linux works for you and your hardware config. It’s a great way to test things and determine what distro and desktop environment works for you.
Depending on your audience (don’t overestimate your audience!) you might also want to have a look at the material from The Carpentries. The participatory live coding style works really nicely in workshops for minimally technical beginners. Also don’t make the assignments too hard, or give multiple difficulty levels.
I’m a conservative. I don’t mind the liberal stuff here. It’s good to learn the other side, but I don’t want a liberal echo chamber. I’d like to be more politically balanced in the fediverse. Is there any way I can do that?
Joe Biden would probably be one of the more right wing members in the liberal party here (which is a right wing party). The US definitions of liberal and conservative are totally out of touch with the actual philosophical/ideological underpinnings of those terms.
Just because they haven’t been checked yet doesn’t mean they won’t run. About 75% of the games that were tested were compatible with the Steam Deck. Also, all emulators work on Linux too and sometimes even better than on Windows. The number of games that are available to you on Linux is simply massive.
Red Hat’s Jonas Ådahl began working on this Mutter KMS kernel thread implementation a half-year ago and finally it recently was merged for the GNOME 45 release due out in September. By having this dedicated thread there should be lower latency cursor movements and possible avoidance of cursor stutter. It should be a latency...
If it is anything like here they supplement the feed with a ton of soy beans, which is causing huge problems in Brazil. iirc 87% of soy is used for cattle.
Such an unbelievably talented and driven group of people. Having a full blown version of Fedora on Apple silicon would probably convince me to buy a macbook for my next laptop.
What are some of your, "If I like this, what else might I like" questions?
Thanks for all the interesting replies! Given the response, I decided to make a whole community around this, hope you’ll consider joining!...
