I’ve been using this:

github.com/rostopira/wifi_qs

I’m on a pixel 6 pro and just updated to Android 14 and it still works. It does say “disconnected” when the tile is activated even though I’m connected and it works. So as long as that doesn’t bother you.

Apparently this method is depreciated in favor of running some ADB commands. There is a link within the GitHub link to the new method. I haven’t tried that as the tile still works for me.

Got any more? Been trying to get one

Anyone here play Radlands? Is there a good alternative ruleset for 3-4 players?

I recently watched some videos on this game and I absolutely love the art style and gameplay. However my normal group is 3 to 4 people, I’m wondering if anyone has any good alternate rules to accommodate additional players. I’ve done some googling and there are some ideas out there, but nothing really solid as far as I can...

I’ve seen a few different ways discussed but this one seems like the best (I don’t have the game to test it out).

  • Each player starts with 2 Camps, +1 for each opponent. (So 3 players is 4 camps each, 4 players is 5 camps each)
  • Players can damage any opponent.
  • Events effect each opponent
  • Players cannot Summon People or Punks in a column with a destroyed camp. (This is to balance out the additional camps)
  • People and Punks already in the column after a camp is destroyed remain in their slot until destroyed.

Pulling from a different alternate ruleset I found online that was suggesting 2v2:

  • First turn water allocation for 4 players goes 1, 2, 2, and 3. On turn 2 everyone gets 3. (3 players is 1, 2, 3, and then 3 for everyone)

I’ve read that you can do this with 2 camps each. You sit across from your teammate and you can only target the opponent on your left. That way your partner has to defend your flank while you defend theirs. The first team to destroy a single opponent’s 2 camps wins.

Is this how you would have played? Any other alternate rules?

Let me know how it goes! First turn water allocations for this method are 1, 2, 2, 3, and then 3 for all proceeding turns.

Been playing a lot of Lorcana with the wife. It’s been a lot of fun. Other than that I’ve been following the Spiel Essen conference to see if any other games are worth getting. So now I’m down a bit of a rabbit hole of board games I want lol.

Probably gonna pick up Root, Feed the Kraken, and probably Radlands soon. I have some other board games that I have yet to play that I also want to try out. Namely, Apollo and Betrayal at the House on the Hill.

I had the same issue with my community (PS5) and a sister community (Playstation). My community was much more active but niche compared to the other community. Ultimately I was handed control of the sister community (PlayStation) by the former mods and both communities voted overwhelmingly to merge under the one with the larger umbrella.

I think this is something you should consider down the road. It may not be the best for now as foodporn and shittyfoodporn and recipes are all very different, but I believe lemmy is working on a flair/tagging system. When that goes live you could unify under c/food and then use tags so that users can set up the filters on their end. If someone only wants recipes, they can filter out shittyfood and foodporn. If someone only wants shittyfood, they filter the rest, etc.

Best of luck on all this. I am still working on managing the very large transition we just did. And we will be looking into mandatory flairs when the feature goes live to help those only looking for certain content.

Edit: I am subscribed to all of the food communities. I don’t do much cooking but I love the food! I’ll be sure to vote more frequently

Kiri-ai: The Duel - Two players, five minutes, 16 cards, one of the most compelling card games I’ve ever played (www.dicebreaker.com)

I just read this article and went ahead and preordered this game. It seems like such a fun time. I have a particular friend in mind that I think would love to play this with me. Figured I would share with this community.

Lol, might have to load this in table top simulator to play it. Gameplay videos seem to be a little sparse at the moment. There is an overview video on the lucky duck games YouTube about it, but it’s not real gameplay.

Other than that there are some other impression videos from the Reno Expo, but again, no real gameplay. I just impulse bought (preordered) it. For $15 it seems like if the gameplay can stay fresh this will be pretty popular. And I think it will be, because it seems like most of the gameplay is in your mind and how you read your opponent. Reminds me a bit of Nidhogg for PS4.

It basically just automates searching the subreddit name and showing you similarly named communities. If it’s not working, you could instead go to lemmyverse.net, set your home instance using the home icon, and then search for all your subreddits. Links you click will open in your home instance and you can just click subscribe.

CosmicSploogeDrizzle,
@CosmicSploogeDrizzle@lemmy.world avatar

of course! I was just trying to help out by providing an alternative if it’s not working at the moment.

!standupcomedy

I used lenmyverse.net to search and find it

Also you’re getting downvotes because you’re just asking for others to do the work for you. I suggest helping to post the content you want to see on that existing community I linked. It doesn’t have many subs and some of it is old, but it has existing moderators

Post is funny, but AI memes are weird

I used to use a bot in one of my communities to help me out. Turns out it spammed way too much. Once I got feedback from the community I turned it off. I now have sources fed to me privately via RSS and then filter content based on what I think the community will enjoy and post it manually. Is it harder? Yes. But the community has more engagement, comments more, and votes positively more often since I started doing it this way. I also gain consistent new subscribers daily. I also have control over the “nozzle” so if multiple stories are worth posting but there are too many, I can sideline some for when the news slows down and post them later.

CosmicSploogeDrizzle,
@CosmicSploogeDrizzle@lemmy.world avatar

It’s the easiest way to seed content but isn’t the best for building a community. Communities need to be more than RSS feeds. And that missing element is a human filter IMHO. Curated content.

Lemmyverse.net is definitely the best universal search option. You can even set your home instance so all the links open properly for you

I vote for GoW, but if you are looking to snowball it, play TF2 first since the campaign is short but awesome! Then GoW. It’s decently long, but mostly linear. Then after that, probably Bioshock for similar reasons. Finish it off with Horizon, which can be as wide open as you want it to be, but you can also mainline the main quests to get a more streamlined story experience.

Also, I’m the lead mod over on !playstation so come join us over there if you haven’t already!

They have expansions planned far in the future. They just didn’t anticipate the demand. They announced yesterday that they will reprint the First Chapter and launch the reprint alongside the first expansion (Floodborn) in a bundle this holiday 2023 (USA) and do the same for Europe in January 2024. They will be also launching Floodborn expansion as a solo expansion beginning in mid November in LGS and Dec 1st in big box.

I was able to get the 3 starters and a trove (8 booster packs) just last week when my local big box did a big restock. I’ve played the game with my wife mainly and we are both loving it. I don’t think it’s on life support, I think it just had a rocky launch.

Thank you for explaining it to me in detail. The mention of my profile was only to give reassurance that I was going to be actively building a community and not just making one and doing nothing. But I can see it from your perspective now. I will remove the mention from the post.

You are assuming a linear progression. Climate effects are likely accelerating.
