You vastly overestimate the average user. Probably installed an ad locker cause heard from a friend or coworker. Then stops letting them watch YouTube so they uninstall. Go to a non techie and browse the web it’s insane.
I mean, I dont actually mind ads… within reason. But over the past few years I have watched less and less youtube content due to the ratio of ads to the actual bloody content I wanted to view....
How well it hurt them? It well probably help them the people it drives away well be the ones who are blocking ads. So by moving to another platform you are saving on Youtubes costs.
Google doesn’t sell shit. They sell and target ads. If they sold your data why would people come to them to purchase ads? What advantage would they have?
I use a seedbox to run qBittorrent with Jackett, and have a bunch of sources on there. I know there are other methods, but that works for me and I’m comfortable with it....
Is it the kind of thing Hamas would do I do know it’s the kind of thing Israel does and this isn’t the first. It’s easy to say oh we killed civilians but we share targeting tunnels or something.
See that’s what I don’t get Israel created Hamas but nobody seems to acknowledge that. Decades of mistreatment bombings of course they’re going to eventually fight back.
Really interesting read about the history of YouTube adblocking, how the new detection works, how uBO is responding, and how not to block the new popups.
What do you all think of the Red Hat drama a few months ago? I just learned about it and looked into it a bit. I’ve been using Fedora for a while now on my main system, but curious whether you think this will end up affecting it....
So I would assume some of the people saying Palestinians aren’t native are in the americas. So does that mean all black peoples have to go to Africa and all white people Europe? Or do you go way back and all humans have to go to Africa cause that is where we originated as a species from?
Ant this is the thing no one is saying. Yes what they did was bad but I can understand why they exist. Freedom fighters or terrorist just depends on your point of view.
Why don’t they widen the road or at least ad sidewalks? I imagine the city has the ability to at leat do sidewalks since usually the first x feet from centre of road they have the right of way on.
You do know YouTube was not profitable for a long time. I can see them wanting to make some of their money back. The storage and bandwidth cost must be insane for them. Saying that yah I block the ads but I know I don’t because I want to and it isn’t a right of mine or anything.
To bad there are upkeep costs. I mean it seems nobody realizes how much it costs. I imagine they well start pruning videos next because it isn’t worth it to keep it all available.
Sure but you try being killed and kicked out of your homes. I’m sure you would not like the people who are doing it either. Israel has created this mess.
Youtube let the other shoe drop in their end-stage enshittification this week. Last month, they required you to turn on Youtube History to view the feed of youtube videos recommendations. That seems reasonable, so I did it. But I delete my history every 1 week instead of every 3 months. So they don’t get much from my choices....
People obviously don’t want to pay for stuff. Complaining about ads on YouTube but refusing to pay for no ads. I mean everyone thinks it’s free to host all those videos right?

I hate the shield, I mean I still use it but the shit with no ads and then getting riddled with ads pissed me off. Sure the CCWGTV whatever its cheap but the price I paid for my shields, it was not ok.
And crashes more and has more annoying bugs, that they say working as intended. The one that bugs the hell out of me is when you download another copy of an old movie it gets added to the new category. It is my biggest issue but then there is the no intro skip no screen caps well fast forwarding. And yes I know there are plug-ins for both but the authors of the players don’t support third party plugins.
No we can’t. It’s been consolidated. Sure some of us might get a little piece of freedom but the web is going to stay consolidated unless something major happens…
