I’m going to replace my host os on my shitty laptop with Linux specifically puppy Linux or alpine Linux from scratch and I need to know how will I get started and make it easier for myself, I use a HP notebook 540
My Linux knowledge isn’t what it used to be, but I believe you can easily make a thumb drive with a bootable distro. I would recommend taking whatever you choose for a test drive before you wipe a working system. That way you can see if there’s any weird stuff that doesn’t want to work.
My favorite genre. I feel like we’ve seen a resurgence of every other genre. Bring on the RTS games. I would do terrible things for Warcraft 4. I will definitely check this out.
Actual fascists are just as bad as people who want social change? Fascism is a very real thing. The leading Republican candidate has frequently made very literal threats, and has already supported one attempted coup.
In absolutely no way are the two parties “just as dangerous”.
I am so so divided on if I should vote for biden or not. I wanna vote third party to at least do something or should I just stay home and protest and advocate where I can? Thoughts?
While I wish we had a candidate that wasn’t 80. I’ve actually been pleasantly surprised by Biden’s administration.
And yes, the risk on this one is too great for third party. I genuinely do not believe that democracy will survive another term with the orange turd. He’s already tried to overthrow our government once. He has made it clear that he plans to succeed through force if reelected.
Waiting tables at a casual+ restaurant? Yes. The ratio is mostly girls- in their 20s. The turnover is high, so there’s always new people coming in. You’re around each other constantly so it’s not awkward to strike up a conversation. Plus the parties were pretty fun.
I don’t think you’d have the same luck at McDonald’s, or in management, but serving at decent places I always had good luck.
My only complaint (other than I’ve always hated when they recycle maps from previous games) is that you need Internet connectivity to play these. That completely defeats the whole point of the Switch.
I definitely could not access them without Internet. This was after they had been downloaded and played. The error even said as much. Maybe they’ve changed that since? Hopefully…
Besides giving into homophobia and other ethical issues, he’s not even good from a business perspective.
Look at the growth of other sports compared to hockey during his tenure. Multiple failed teams and moves. Phoenix is a joke. There are 3 teams in CA and 2 in FLA… Despite wanting to spread the NHL to new regions.
He’s made TV viewing a nightmare. You can’t just buy an NHL package. There are home game blackouts, games and multiple networks that aren’t packaged together for away games. And most recently this dipshit decided to make the boards a green screen with moving fucking ads DURING PLAY. As if hockey wasn’t challenging enough to track the play.
The issue is that Bettman has repeatedly not given teams to cities because he wants to spread the sport geographically. For example Milwaukee will never get a team because Bettman figures those people can either be fans of Minnesota or Chicago. Yet the LA and Anaheim arenas are just 35 minutes apart. I’m pretty sure if Anaheim didn’t have a team their fan base would just watch the Kings play.
Milwaukee and Chicago are an hour and a half apart. Milwaukee county is about 1 million people. So it’s not small.
I’m not even saying their isn’t logic in tapping the big markets, but two that are on top of each other? And using that as the reason not to put teams elsewhere? That just doesn’t make sense. At least go to San Diego.

Ugh, “defund the police” is a terrible phrase if you actually want the movement to succeed. I wish they would have gone with something along the lines of “police reform”. Immediately every conservative glommed onto “now they want to abolish all police!”
We do need a massive overhaul to police. Unfortunately that means better marketing of the idea of it’s going to happen.
I know the real idea behind it. I just never liked it being summarized as defund. It’s more like restructure. Personally, I would be much more aggressive with an overall. It’s rotten top to bottom.

I would argue he’s our worst president ever. Andrew Jackson, etc. etc. Absolutely shitty, but those guys were flying blind without history to learn from, and their atrocities were sadly socially acceptable at the time. Reagan destroyed everything right this country had done, and enabled the future monsters to come. He brought religion to the front of American politics, destroyed the regulations that protected us, brought unfathomable debt, the war on drugs, the list goes on.
The Orange Shit Stain is probably a worse person, but he arrived on Reagan’s back.
Yeah, changing up cars seems like scratching at a symptom rather than the problem. If there are thousands of cars all headed in the same direction every day… It seems like offering a train would be pretty obvious win.
So I have a situation. I really want to switch to Linux as my main gaming/production OS but need the Adobe suite as I am a graphic designer. I’ve tried switching to Linux many times over the years. There are many things about it that rock… But, unfortunately plenty that do not. Financially it doesn’t make sense for Adobe and others to support Linux (sadly).
Dual boot is an option, as you mentioned. However, Linux will run on a toaster. Fire it up on a thumb drive, or an old laptop, or whatever you’ve got and putz around. It’s fun just to explore.

Eesh. That video is damning. I don’t even watch soccer/futbol and that’s pretty egregious in the replay. She pushed off her back, then stepped on it… Not an accident
I can’t fathom having the power to save our at least change millions of lives…but instead choose to leech more wealth from the people that need it most. And systematically make the world worse. It’s a sickness.
As Twitter ditches its iconic branding in favor of owner Elon Musk's favorite letter "X," its open source competitor Mastodon is once again seeing usage numbers soar.
I can’t fathom that anybody could be this stupid. Does he have a reason to purposely destroy Twitter?
The decisions he’s making aren’t just bad, they’re the worst possible ones that he could make. As in, he gathered a group of experts and these are the best ways to destroy Twitter that they could think up.
Often enough I hear people say that it’s good to spend that much on our military. “That way no one will mess with us.” That logic hurts my brain. We spend more than the next TEN countries combined. We could halve our budget and still have a ridiculously large military.
We argue about the cost of a stadium (rightfully), then pay them off for 25+ years, and those cost ONE billion (versus $880 billion). An annual per Capita hit of $2,200 is crazy.
Also, we don’t even use a significant portion of the equipment that we build. There are thousands of tanks just collecting dust. “But they create jobs.” Build something else. Schools, parks, trains, housing, etc.
I sure hope I can keep up! (startrek.website)
