drmoose,

Who said complaining solves nothing?

drmoose,

The whale looks happy :)

drmoose,

You seem fun at parties huh

drmoose,

It’s biodegradable :)

Who's winning the war in Ukraine?

The media won’t give me great answers to this question and I think this I trust this community more, thus I want to know from you. Also, I have heard reports that Russia was winning the war, if that’s true, did the west miscalculate the situation by allowing diplomacy to take a backseat and allowing Ukraine to a large...

drmoose,

I don’t think Russia has any chance of winning. The only reason Russians are still in Ukraine is because the west is too pussy to ship the real guns.

This makes you wonder whether people benefit from this or its trully a valid strategy not to bug squash the bully cause they might go mental.

Either way, the war doesn’t have to end through military or peace agreements. Russian economy seems to be ending first. As grim as that sounds but maybe that’ll get Russians caring.

drmoose,

Basically relationship with no official label as both parties don’t want to commit but enjoy things as they are.

drmoose,

Ultimate Slut.

drmoose,

Honestly people on Mastodon are very datable. I wonder whether there are dating/sexting communities out there.

drmoose,

It’s a great game for that as there’s a big focus on cosmetics and casual soliazing. I played it on release and I remember people hanging out at the beach area next to the main city.

drmoose,

Soviet Union? It was uncommon for a family of 6 to live in a small apartment. You can even see it in old soviet movies where apartments would be separated by curtains (common comedy trope).

drmoose,

No herring is a legit threat to old people in the Baltics. It’s one of those nasty national dishes that older generation would start take global warming seriously lol

What are your experiences with polyamory, first or second hand?

I personally am in a phenomenally stable polyamorous relationship. I’ve been married to my wife for 12 years, and she has had the same boyfriend for about half of that time. It’s a really fulfilling arrangement for all of us in various ways. We’re all genuinely happy and satisfied. I’m kind of casually looking for a...

drmoose,

I’ve never seen a healthy poly relationship and I’ve seen many but I still think that it could work given the right circumstances. People already suck at handling a single relationship so statistically handling more is just significantly more difficult not to mention all the externals like community and society as whole.

Elon's "extremely hardcore" toxic work culture means people are forced to take Adderall without a prescription to meet their workload. Just ask SpaceX employees.

"Some SpaceX workers resorted to taking Adderall to keep up with the pace of work at the company's launch facility, and others found themselves falling asleep in the bathroom during long workweeks, a recent Reuters investigation found.

"Travis Carson, a former SpaceX worker at the company's facility in Brownsville, Texas, told Reuters some workers took Adderall — a stimulant designed to help people with ADHD improve their focus and concentration levels — without a prescription to keep up with the pace of work."

What a nightmare!

#X @technology

drmoose,

Dudes are literally working in meth 💀

Ngl I’m a senior engineer and I take 2.5mg of Adderall once in a while to go through a tough bug or release. I can’t imagine taking it every day tho, the side effects really start to show and eventually you’d do worse than without it entirely.

It really messed with your head with long term use - it’s not gonna end well for these people.

drmoose,

I disagree. AI can be big in developing world. Samsung is quite big in SEA and local, accessible onboard translation would be big for connecting areas like this. Currently Google Translate is just not good enough and there’s just too much friction.

drmoose,

They did. It has been in development for ages.

drmoose,

Afaik the translations are offline. At least according to Samsung.

drmoose,

Exactly! I think people forget that language barrier is still a thing for big chunk of the world. A frictionless on-device translator would be huge.

drmoose,

When it started out as “One” suffix to signal that it’s a hub sort-of-thing it made sense but then they took it and ran with it. I wonder how many sales XBox missed because of their dumb naming schemes. I honestly still don’t know which xbox is the newest one.

drmoose,

I was on the fence about buying on launch and glad I didn’t. I’ll just pick up the complete edition in a year or two.

drmoose,

Yes I really liked the first one but it felt a clunky at points. It seems like this is just an improvement is almost every way!

Facebook Puts a Price on Privacy in EU, EEA and Switzerland: It’s 9.99€ a Month + 6€ for Each Extra Account (www.wired.com)

Ad free Facebook and Instagram is officially on. I’m trying to stay open minded but honestly it’s too expensive especially with this sneaky account center rule unless you’re in an unfortunate position where you need to spend a lot of time on these platforms....

drmoose,

Exactly that’s just the ad price for the data. Analytics, internal use and whatnot is a whole different thing.

drmoose,

The new Thai PM is shitting the bed already. The country was so close to true democracy and now there’s this guy shaking hands with Putin instead.

For context there was just a major election that was basically stolen as winning party was not allowed to form a government on some bs charges claiming PM Pita Limjaroenrat owned shares in a media company. Then of course the 2nd biggest party which is pro military and status quo had no problems getting a government and they are all floppy dick rich people that throw populist bullshit around and never really accomplish anything.

Fortunately, thais not falling for that shit and just need to hold out 4 more years.

drmoose,

Sorry but im not sure I understand your comment. What do drug warlords want from more guns? Dudes are sitting on mountain tops watching farms lol there are no active fighting or engagements going on that warrant thousands of guns.

Most of it is for the massively oversized police and military departments and good old money laundering.

drmoose,

What’s the educated opinion of how could this been handled by Israel? Honest question. (Ignoring the fact that Israel failed with intel)

To me it seems like Gaza had no intention to get rid of Hamas though at the same time bombing is unnecessary as the culprits can’t really leave other than the secret tunnels to Egypt which can’t really be bombed.

So the only real alternative is a full Blockade and ultimatum or something? Clearly Gaza doesn’t stand a chance against IDF too so Israel had all of the cards to conjure any response they wanted.

I’ve tried to Google similar modern scenarios and couldn’t find anything.

Anti-Semitic incidents in US up about 400% since Israel-Hamas war began: Report (www.straitstimes.com)

Antisemitic incidents in the United States rose by about 400% in slightly over two weeks since war broke out in the Middle East after Palestinian Islamist group Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, advocacy group Anti-Defamation League (ADL) said Wednesday. Read more at straitstimes.com.

drmoose,

Honestly it’s surprisingly little.

drmoose,

Static site generator. It’s hosted for free, super fast, easy to use. Done.

Not everything needs to run fediverse. That’s ridiculous bloat tbh.

drmoose,

I do it when I’m too lazy to make espresso at home. I have some freeze dried quality coffee that mixed with oat milk or vanilla ice cream tastes really good but I also do 3in1 which is delish.

Instant coffee is becoming quite popular again thanks to tiktok. People are sharing many recipes and its big because it’s very accessible and can taste good. Also people finally figuring out that there is some special prep involved like not burning the coffee etc.

I don’t really get beverages elitism tbh it’s all some weird nonsense we put into our water to entertain ourselves.

drmoose,

Community is vital for anarchy to work. It’s hard to do that in an open online community tbh.

drmoose,

Honestly as NYT subscriber I really doubt that people actually read NYT through archive or at least most of the archive reader wouldn’t convert anyway. To me it seems like a bad sign of them trying to hide something. Archive is a public way to track website changes which is very valuable for validating journalism.

In general NYT is trying to have their content public and take advantage of indexing but also private for selling subscriptions. It’s a bit of a paradox that really diminishes their position here.

drmoose,

It’s always trying to escape but it just ends up dragging me to bars, strip clubs and all other bad places. I think it wants to kill me but slowly.

drmoose,

Honestly quality of Mastodon interactions is much superior to Twitter or Threads. People are just nicer and more real on fediverse. Maybe a bit of an barrier to entry is a good thing after all!

drmoose,

It’s very big, we’re on the edge

drmoose,

Literally billions of people. Like people forget smart phone games are so far ahead by user count that a single game often has more players than ALL gaming consoles COMBINED. I’m not saying it’s great, I’m just saying it’s wildly popular.

drmoose,

That’s like 5 Tidal albums 🫣

drmoose,

Obviously yeah. Apple even has a monopoly on their cloud solution so it’s even a more extreme example.

I love Google Photos but it makes me feel dirty when they do me like that.
