CluckN, in The Hamas Terrorist Who Wasn’t

Damn these The Little Engine That Could books are getting dark.

fartington, in "In and out ,20 Minutes Advanture"

Great, I blocked that hexbear shithole and now it slides in via lemmy.ml?` Time to block that instance as well then…

HowMany, in Assange gets court date for last-gasp bid to avoid extradition to US

Who? And in light of a felonious ex “presidente”, treason to be precise, why does this guy even show up on the radar anymore? Fuck it. Let him freely walk about the cabin.

badaboomxx, in Protesters Shut Down Los Angeles Highway to Demand Ceasefire in Gaza

Instead of going to their local government, they deside to close a road… if they want to be branded as idiots, this is a good way of doing that.

TokenBoomer,

Yeah, why didn’t the American’s go to their government instead of protesting with the Boston Tea Party?

badaboomxx,

Rhe issue is that doing protests that way is not going to win sympathy from the people who is using the road.

TokenBoomer,

Why didn’t the Americans protests differently to get sympathy from the British?

badaboomxx,

There are ways to protest, but this is not efecive especially for the people using the road

TokenBoomer,

History says otherwise.

Dyskolos, in Assange gets court date for last-gasp bid to avoid extradition to US

It’s utterly disgusting, that a guy like him would face >100yrs prison for exposing - amongst other things - US-soldiers murdering civilians for fun. While a rapist or pedo gets some years, if any at all.

Rapidcreek, in Turkey links Sweden’s NATO bid to US approving F-16 jet sales and Canada lifting arms embargo

When Erdogan is bought, he stays bought.

Until the next time.

gregorum, in Israel's Defence Minister Gallant warns Hezbollah: Israel can do in Beirut what it's doing in Gaza

Wait, what? The fuck you can

And one of them was a Bill Gates. Do not let Bill forget.

mhague, in The Hamas Terrorist Who Wasn’t

All he did was bounce between extremist pipelines, make terrorism ‘jokes’, compile intel, plan through various scenarios, let hardcore Muslims convince him to quit the Marines, engaged with groups explicitly tied to terrorist acts, and present himself as a terminally online kid with a processing disorder. I’m surprised he wasn’t given the benefit of the doubt after he posted intel and linked to a group funding Hamas.

HootinNHollerin, in Storied US Steel to be acquired for more than $14 billion by Nippon Steel
@HootinNHollerin@sh.itjust.works avatar

That’s sad

JokeDeity, in Casualties Rise in Gaza: 70% of Killed Women and Children

I will forever hold Israelis in the same part of my mind as Nazis and Russians. Fuck them all.

Rapidcreek, in Denmark, U.S. reach defence agreement

It probably means the US can use Danish bases. Putin will not like that,

espentan,

The US already has a presence in many locations in Scandinavia/The Nordics. Depending on what one considers to be a base, as many as 36.

In total, Norway, Sweden, and Finland have opened 36 military bases for US forces and weapons. The agreements are bilateral, i.e., between the US and the individual country, and not a NATO agreement.

But yeah, more will undoubtedly not make Putin any happier.

Source.

PatFussy, (edited ) in Storied US Steel to be acquired for more than $14 billion by Nippon Steel

I dont want China making steel for the US. Im sure a sitting president would stop this acquisition.

Edit: article confused me

Verat,

This is Japan, not China

PatFussy,

My mistake, i read Baowu and thought that was the parent company for Nippon.

MisuseCase, in US Trying to Water Down New Cease-Fire Resolution at UN Security Council
@MisuseCase@twit.social avatar

@shreddy_scientist Trying to water it down so they can vote for it without upsetting Israel? That’s not going to work. There is no way to have this both ways. Either everyone will feel the same as they do already or everyone will be upset.

shreddy_scientist,
@shreddy_scientist@lemmy.ml avatar

You nailed it!! I’m thinking they are basically trying to neuter the proposal so they don’t have to veto it again while still keeping Lockheed and friends happy…

MisuseCase,
@MisuseCase@twit.social avatar

@shreddy_scientist If they can secure funding for Ukraine they can pull aid for Israel (Israel doesn’t actually need it, a lot of people don’t understand that) and then transfer that business to Ukraine. It will keep Lockheed et. al. happy, and get them invested in lobbying to set up a permanent stream of aid/military support to European countries bordering Russia.

davel,
@davel@lemmy.ml avatar

This tactic works with great regularity. If it works, Biden will look like he’s helping to his low-information voting base, without significantly restraining Israel.

Kidplayer_666,

I mean, not like the UN resolutions are actually enforceable for the most part

davel, (edited )
@davel@lemmy.ml avatar

This is a Security Council resolution, which has more teeth than a General Assembly one.
