So I live in a city that has a huge US Steel cleanup project going on. Who takes over this project? I know the Japanese should but will they? US Steel fought for a long time against this cleanup and they lost in court; who’s to say the Japanese won’t do the same thing??
I love the implication that Gaza is fighting back harder when all that’s happening is that Israel ramped up their genocide. That’s why the “war” framing is so dishonest and fucking evil, it puts the two parties on an equal footing when it’s one overwhelmingly oppressing the other.
He’s right on this one. We shouldn’t be supporting a government that kills civilians no matter how much they try to justify it with saying there were legitimate targets behind them.
Often the excuse isn't even "bad guys behind the civilians" it's "probably bad guys somewhere sort of in the general area, but we didn't actually check first".
Oh yeah, then there's the "old lady trying to drag her dying mother into a church" those are always valid targets, apparently. As is the old lady's mother before the whole being drug into a church thing.
Dropping support for Israel is going to result in is more dead Israeli citizens, because Hamas sure as hell won’t stop attacking Israel just because Israel stops bombing them. Iran would laugh all the way to the bank where they would grab some more money to fund Hamas.
The government of the Gaza Strip (Hamas) was behind an intentional attack on Civilians that prompted this whole mess.
The government of Israel is intentionally attacking civilians in retaliation, mostly because those civilians are being used as human shields or are complicit with or supporting Hamas.
The whole thing is shit, and likely will not be resolved until Iran or the US back down on their support and the other side pushes out whoever lost support.
Edit: To all you idiots downvoting. Do you think Ukraine should jus give up territory to save civilian lives too? You’re being naive. There’s a reason why the governments of the western nations are still supporting these countries. These situations are a lot more important than you think for the balance of world power.
People in that region have been killing each other for thousands of years.
You want to look at historical attacks. There were entire Jewish cities in the wiped out a thousand years ago under the ottoman empire by Islamic citizens of the region.
You want to talk with the big boys perhaps do your research before you spout off.
Hmm, I wonder why the German left would be sympathetic to the Jews having a secure homeland where they aren’t attacked by people who deny their right to exist.
“There has been Anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?” David Ben-Gurion (the first Israeli Prime Minister): Quoted by Nahum Goldmann in Le Paraddoxe Juif (The Jewish Paradox), pp121.
If you wanted Jews to be secure, Palestine isn’t the place. It is already has its own people, the Palestinians.

He wasn’t murdered he was framed in a murder suicide theirs a difference. One tries to make the victim look like they died of suicide while he was murdered the other is just plain murder.
God do I wish the UK was still part of the EU - cause then we'd be governed by at least some people with an actual backbone to speak of, rather than the corrupt Tories that racist dickheads keep voting in over and over
Eh those idiots would just keep pushing Brexit as a distraction, at least when the UK rejoins the EU, if they ever do, they’ll have gotten the Brexit out of their system.
I do hope it's a "when", cause it should be alarmingly clear to everyone who isn't a rich arsehole that being in the EU was to our collective benefit...
Having said that, if it took crippling our economy for people to learn that lesson, then we're fucked on everything else steadily coming our way (i.e. climate change)
It’s baffling to me that the UK was able to keep their currency and all kinds of other benefits that virtually no other member states had yet they still threw a tantrum and left. Imagine being able to partially dictate your city’s tax codes/laws without having to pay into the pot as much as anyone else while also able to ignore many rules you don’t like. One could almost describe their relationship with the EU as borderline extractory, yet they still weren’t satisfied. Now if they rejoin, they probably won’t get half of the benefits they had previously.
On the bright side, if our politicians are ever forced to concede and rejoin the EU, they won't have their grandfather privileges anymore, and will actually have to participate fairly like everyone else
