If there happens to be a big delay in sync, let's say 7 hours, and I reply to a post that's from another instance, would the notification that's sent to OP on the original instance be at the top of the notification list or would it be buried under notifications that they got in the previous 7 hours?
Was using Lemmy.ca as my home instance for a while, now it's gone. Just wondering what happened or where I can find out.
When creating a new instance or picking a instance to join, what is a good strategy that the user could follow?...
The way I see it, Lemmy and the Fediverse as a whole is a big step back to the golden age of the internet before social media became the cancer that it is today and the internet wasn't controlled by a few big corporations. A big part of that, to me at least, is that you could customize your accounts, home pages, profiles, and so...
You can tell they’re kinda into it
I'm just getting familiar with lemmy fediverse and trying to make my way through it after getting out from reddit. I'm trying out liftoff app for android and I'm seeing way more double posts from different instances from same users. Same content from same users on multiple instances. I thought fediverse supposed to, You post in...
Is there a way to turn off the auto-updating of the post list? I start reading a title and it gets bumped off screen by some new thing up top or a picture that was expanded from a thumbnail gets closed when the post list updates. Is there an option in the settings or something that can turn this off?
I'm learning about the Fediverse and am confused about how federation is supposed to work. I understand that there can be communities with the same name in different instances, with different content. But I also understand you can subscribe to another instance's community. For example, there are sysadmin commnunities at...
I’m currently on a mission to compile a list of health-related communities and overall maybe turn that community into something useful and available to everyone. (If someone wants to help, I’ll welcome it. This is just a quick and dirty start.)...
This may be a very stupid idea, and I know blockchain has a bad reputation for scams, but I was wondering how viable the Internet Computer blockchain might be for a Fediverse universal ID. From what I read on their website, data is much cheaper to host on their blockchain (something like 70 million times less than on Ethereum)....
It would be nice to see a feature or some kind of extension to redirect Lemmy links from other instances to yours so you can interact with them. Because you need an accound to interact and it’s on another instance....
On Reddit you could make a custom feeds with selected subreddits for when you wanted to focus on specific topics. Suuuuper useful for more niche stuff that gets drowned out by larger subs on the Home feed....
I am new to Lemmy and am struggling with a usability issue that is making it virtually unusable. Every few seconds (I am assuming every time a new post is made) a new post pops at the top of the feed, no matter what my sorting method is. This causes any post I had open to close and for all posts to bump down which means I...
In addition to lemmy.world, the #2 real lemmy instance, lemmy.ml, seems to be growing as well....
I started moving from Reddit to Lemmy a few days ago, and since then I’ve been forcing myself to spend time here and getting myself used to it. I quickly checked the list of popular instances and decided to join lemmy.world and not beehaw because I didn’t like their decision of defederating other big lemmy instances....
Good news: lemmy.world has overtaken lemmy.ml and now holds the top spot as the #1 non-bot lemmy instance....

Calckey is a federated microblogging platform. More specifically it’s a fork of misskey which itself is an alternative of Mastodon....
I am pretty new to the fediverse, but have been sort of aware about its presence since elon took over twitter. I am having some trouble figuring out how to use other parts of the fediverse. For example, I came across a link to a post from beehaw, but was unable to comment on it. How do I do that?...
So, somehow I got lost in the internet woods and came across birdsiteLIVE - which is basically a bot that makes twitter accounts viewable on the fediverse with activitypub(it’s one way unfortunately, so twitter accounts won’t see any replies or anything like that)....
Disclaimer: I’m no IT expert/man. I’m just wondering what structure these instances should be....
Hi! I’m dropping by from another corner of the #Fediverse to say hello & welcome to everyone in the #RedditMigration....
