According to the GitHub of Lemmy, the main reason the name Lemmy was chosen was because of Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister, the lead singer from MOTÖRHEAD. This is highly problematic and racist because Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister is an avid collector of Nazi paraphernalia. Social justice warriors and woke NPCs will tell you that you...
If anyone has a BlueSky invite, feel free to DM me. Elon Musk is making Twitter worse and he is limiting how many tweets people can view.
Hello, is there at the moment any option to have lemmy, kbin and mastodon implemented in a single application? At the moment I am using wefwef.
I would like to find a list of lemmy communities to find similar to the ones i left behind on reddit...
Hey friends! I’m looking to sign up for Mastodon and would love to hear what drew you to the server you are on? Also, what are servers with good reputation?
I think apps become really relevant in the federated world, as it allows to manage multiple accounts at the same time, in the same place, allowing for quick switching, etc, while simplifying so much workflow (and making server requests lighter too!)....
I've been on the Fediverse for a little while now, but I'm only getting into Lemmy now. I've noticed that it is very cumbersome to follow communities from other instances. You have to click on search, select "Communities", enter the name (but without the instance), find the correct one in the list if there's multiple and then...

Instead of categorized instances (where communities are related to each other’s interests) (but I have seen people who don’t like the idea stil it’s ok), I have another idea of an “Admin’s Choice/regional/neighborhood” feed aside from my “subscribed”, “local” and “all”....

I just fall on this and didn’t know you can’t remove stuff from lemmy....
I have a server I can use for hosting “stuff”. I want to add containers to host and help with the fediverse load balancing. Lemmy is a pain so if anyone has a simple docker yaml, could you share? And pixelfed is really cool so anyone know how to dockerize it and share it’s yaml? Cheers friends!
So I’m using mlem and wefwef apps. Issues with my comments and posts being posted. Also mlem app seems to have issues with photos both non nsfw and nsfw. Anyone else?
One of the biggest issues I'm having trouble getting past with Lemmy is not knowing which communities to subscribe to....
I’m very new here but I decided to check and compare the posts in a community on lemmy.world (where I have my account) and that same community on the instance where it resides and the posts were almost all completely different! Is that how it’s supposed to work or are they supposed to be synced? Sorry if this is a noob...
Having accounts in different Mastodon instances, for example, allows you to see more of Mastodon, because not all servers federate with the other servers, and some servers will recommend you different accounts, or will only partially show you posts from accounts on other servers. It also allows you to test out each one of those...
When I try posting a message in a community on that instance it just shows a spinning wheel forever. Anyone managed to post messages there recently?

In a way this is also a test...
I would like to follow some nice and informative mastodon accounts. Any recommendation?
I'm new to Lemmy, and I was not a Reddit user. I have been using Mastodon regularly since November, so I am familiar with the general concepts of instances in the Fediverse....
Sorry if this has been asked already, but I'm struggling with my google skills and fediverse right now...
Not sure why this is happening, it's been like it since I came over and it's quite annoying. No matter if it's on All and filtered by Hot,Active etc, every so often new posts will auto feed right at the top and shift everything down....
Been using lemmy and really enjoying it. I have a twitter account that does me no good so Mastodon seemed very appealing. I joined an instance, made some posts, tried interacting with a lot of people. . . I dunno. It just never really grabbed me....
Can other instances "back it up" so that the posts submitted to the instances aren't lost?
