What? That link immediately refutes this claim in the next sentence “Although this claim has been disputed because of the 83 incidents in the Smith study[10] only 18 cases involved an aggressive bear, and of those 18 only 9 involved a charging bear.”
Agree but you need to be very mindful for the type of gun.
Any more typical pistol like 9mm, 380, 45ACP won’t do much against a bear. 10mm high penetration rounds (ie not holopoints, hard cast is preferable) is probably the minimum I’d want if I can’t carry a rifle in bear country.
Yes I agree do all of this, don’t just shoot everything you see. But on the chance this fails or you make a mistake, you should have a gun as a last resort.
Okay bud. If you don’t want to carry by all means no one is forcing you. But I’m going to protect my family when we camp or need to visit bear country for any reason.
Go unarmed then. I don’t actually care what you do. But if carrying a gun gives me a last resort to save my family in bear country, I’m going to train and carry.
If holding a gun makes you suicidal, homicidal, or if you’re worried you’ll accidentally kill someone, don’t carry or seek training.

Those other places also implemented things that actually reduce all violence like universal healthcare, workers rights, stronger welfare, maternity/paternity leave, mandatory vacation time, etc.
Places like the UK have lower rates of murder via martial attacks (punches, kicks, strangle, etc) yet I don’t think they have gym control limiting how strong you can be.
Happy, healthy, financially safe people don’t commit violence.

California will double the taxes on guns and ammunition and use the money to pay for more security at public schools and various violence prevention programs under a new law Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Tuesday....
“California will ban people from carrying firearms in most public places” and then it goes on about the tax.
I feel like the carry ban is a far larger story then the tax. Not just because its blatantly unconstitutional but it directly opposes very recent rulings from the highest court in America
“But he acknowledged many of these laws might not survive legal challenges”
How is this not grounds for some form of punishment? Politicians shouldn’t be able to write laws even they acknowledge are illegal, gun law or otherwise?
Literally read the first half of the first sentence. “California will ban people from carrying firearms in most public places”
SCOTUS point blank ruled this unconstitutional in the Bruen decision, specifically pointing out banning carry in most public places is unconstitutional.
FFS even he acknowledges what hes doing is unconstitutional “But he acknowledged many of these laws might not survive legal challenges”.
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”
Arms are a “right of the people” not the militia. A militia is a result of, not a prerequisite for, the right to bear arms. “well regulated” doesn’t mean government regulation it means well armed, supplied, and trained
Your comment makes no sense. Government regulations, like most antigun folks want “well regulated” to mean, would mean laws limiting the militia. Well regulated in the 2nd amendment actually means in good working order as my link says.
A well regulated clock keeps accurate time. A well regulated engine produces horse power efficiently and reliably. A well regulated militia has plenty of ammo and supplies and knows how to use them.
In a way I’m rooting for California. The more gun laws they get appealed all the way to SCOTUS, the more national precedent gets set that these laws are illegal in the whole country.

Presented to the founding father’s in 1792 by its civilian inventor. 224 round capacity. Fully automatic.
The founding father’s not only KNEW about high cap autos, they are even confirmed to have seen in action this fully automatic ultra high capacity gun, and they had absolutely no problem with a civilian owning and making them.
No? I don’t want one, and that’s mainly because I don’t have the land to test it. Its something I want to do one day once I own significant acherage.
I have however, printed fully functional firearms (G19x, FGC-9, AR-15, others). An RPG is well within feasibility of modern desktop printers. Look on YouTube or FossCAD on Reddit if you don’t believe me. RPGs, Grenade Launchers, Silencers, full guns, and plenty other improvised weapons are fully printable with plenty of examples online. And perfectly legal for most US citizens to make.
