Not sure if this is the best place for this. If not, I apologize. I just want to understand Lemmy better.

Hey everyone! I’m Ategon one of the admins over in programming.dev...
Is there a website that shows a list of dead instances and how long they were alive and why they died? I think that would be a cool website. It could be for Lemmy, Kbin, Mastodon, and everywhere else in the Fediverse!
Lately Tusky is taking quite some time to load images for me, can it be the app or maybe the instance that I’m in?
Many NSFW have nothing to do with porn. Sometimes are horror contents, some times are crude images, some times are just lazy people who don’t know of the Spoiler tag. Can we have a quick and easy way to filter off all the (very funny but not alway wanted) Porn posts without locking out those other contents???
I have built an AutoMod bot for my instance, lemmy.basedcount.com. The bot covers the following features:...

What I mean is someone sets up a new community, blasts it with a bunch of content to get things started, or sets up a new community bot that makes 20 posts and every other post in my feed is that community. Usually with 1 or 2 votes each and no comments. No matter what way I sort I see this....
I think this has negative effects on the threadiverse because it tends to keep user’s focus at lemmy.world and in general keeps users to stay in their bubbles
Groups as both a formal ActivityPub spec and general concept deeply invigorate me. I previously wrote about group-to-group following (FEP-d36d) as the missing glue layer to successfully transition /r/rust to the threadiverse....

Libp2p or similar stack could be used to provide the phone instance an address, caching could be distributed among peers. Of course, as long as other servers also support libp2p....
Hello everyone,...
This is in regard to Lemmy.world blocking piracy communities from other instances. This post is not about whether you agree with the decision. It’s about how the admins informed their users....
Hi everyone, I’m excited to announce one more release before I take a short break. I have some other stuff starting up, so I won’t be pushing out new features as fast, but I’ll still be around to manage the project. (more at the end)...
I tried to add a bunch of emojis, and none of them worked. When I try to click any of them, it says “Undefined” in the post. Since none of my added emojis have ever worked, I would like to delete them all and try adding them with new shortcodes. How do I do this, and what should be the format of a shortcode(as what I was...

unless im missing something, fedidb.org seems to only track this stuff over the course of the past 14 days....
I just read this point in a comment and wanted to bring it to the spotlight....
Hi. I got a new instance of Lemmy up on my server, but outgoing emails aren’t working with Gmail. I have a paid account with Gmail, and previously have used outgoing mail with other services(like phpbb and Mastodon), and they worked. If you can provide some help, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!
We have a bunch of instances hosting basically the same images multiple times. Using IPFS we could increase the availability of images for users with almost no cost to instances. I have heard rumors that pict-rs can’t be easily scaled up due file system based storage and would need a rewrite....
I think a big problem behind the reluctance of alternatives to the strictly chronical timeline on Mastodon is that people fear that too much power is taken out of their hands if they are introduced. But the fact is: it is already the case that we put a lot of trust in administrators to put the correct software in place. A...
