So, I’ve come to the conclusion that the game is actually not that open ended when it comes to how you want to do things.
For example, I killed gortash and only gortash at his coronation, but Duke ravengard died anyways, you could argue hey maybe he was killed by someone else to get back at your character but it still sucks.
Killing gortash right away also completely removes certain areas and quest lines and also bugs certain other quests very disappointing.
Another thing in regards to romance, apparently if you don’t trigger certain flags you can end up not romancing a character you want. I was not able to romance shadowheart on my second playthrough because I rushed act 1 a bit and didn’t have enough approval for her and the game seem to insinuate that that was fine and I could do it later. But, apparently that wasn’t the case and I cannot romance Shadowheart at all now in Act 3.
With Patch 3, Baldur’s Gate 3 is now fully supported on Mac!
As with the PC release in August, saves made in previous versions of BG3 on Mac will not be compatible with the full release. To prepare your Mac for the full version of Baldur’s Gate 3 and minimise potential compatibility issues, we recommend you fully uninstall the game and remove any mods before installing the latest version.
The minimum and recommended specs for Mac users have also been updated: we recommend an M1 Pro processor and FSR enabled to run the game at high or ultra settings on a Retina display. Check the Steam store page for more details.
Mac players, thank you for your patience – now, gather your party and venture forth.
I mean, her escape was "I don't want to do this anymore, this is literal evil", whereas the mercenaries betraying Nere are more "We haven't been paid immediately so our employer Must Die", might be a bit of a difference in seeing how justified the reason is for turning on your superior officers.
Act 2 - Too many weird issues to count with Halsin in act 2. Thankfully I was able to talk to him at camp, get him to go meet me at the Inn and then do the Defend The Portal thing. Then he disappeared for a while, had nothing to talk about at my camp, and the "Show on map" button for his quest didn't go anywhere. Thankfully it did resolve itself later at the end of the act, I think it might have been caused because I did the hide & seek with the cursed tiefling boy "too early" in act 2?
Early act 3 - The booby-trapped toys quest, after getting the Fist officials to realize the toys are trapped, you get a quest update to go confront the toymaker. Weirdly the only options are kill him or let him leave, not turn him in? I let him leave, he vanished and the quest never updated so I still have it.
Late act 3 - All quests related to Kithrak Voss and the Orphic hammer - I spoke to Voss at the start of act 3, then to Raphael, then Voss again. Many hours later, stole the hammer, went to meet up with Voss in the sewers. He would talk to me, but he just said "Follow me to the tap room", and then he never left the spot. Tried talking to him on all characters, going to camp, reloading, etc. etc. I think this one might have broken him because I normally have at least one summon out (celestial or elemental from Shadowheart, Wyll or Gale) and NPCs go insane if you have a summon they interpret as hostile. I was able to progress the quest but maybe this interrupted him somehow. Anyhow it would have cost me so many hours to go back to a save before that by the time I troubleshot everything that I just gave up. You can still break Orpheus free at the end and get Voss's help, but you never get the greatsword (which is a shame because Baldur's Giantslayer literally does not fucking work on the ONLY two mobs in the game that qualify for its bonus damage after the point where you receive it).
They have said in interviews that a world builder would be effectively impossible because terrain is all custom art. We might get encounter builders, but don’t expect to build your own location.
Never Winter Nights had an incredibly robust set of tools, arguably the best ever, so I think that’s what many are hoping for even if it’s not realistic.
I agree fully. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, though.
I’ve been spending a lot of my time trying to get others to contact the producer to recommend the feature.
It’s hard to imagine the extra life that this game would have if we had something on par to the builder with NWN. I’d hope that we’d see campaign DLC on the level of what people have done with the fallout series. Campaigns that could be even longer and larger than the main quest should be doable with a small team of dedicated folks.
When I’d first noticed it, I scoured the internet for fixes, tried all of them and nothing worked. Apparently it’s a relatively common bug, I just seem to have had it so bad that it was never fixable.
Opened the door to see a bunch of mobs in a room at the other end of a narrow passage under Moonrise Tower . Dropped this in the passage. A lot of dead/dying mobs.
