A few months ago I dropped my phone (Samsung Galaxy A70) and the screen broke. Got a new phone, problem solved. But there is some data on it that I forgot to include in my backups. Very small files but important for achive purposes....
This video outlines some of the relationships between US commuting culture and the perspectives that it’s engendered about the role of the city. The, when compared and contrasted to other nations’ approach to city design and perspectives shows that it’s possible to have a city core that’s more than just a workplace....
Somehow there’s always a “death spiral” for public transit, especially now as people commute less. But somehow… There never is for roads. We never seem to have enough roads. Funny that.
But honestly, I think you’ll find that a lot of the degooglers and such used to be big Google fans, etc. It’s just you eventually get tired of all their bullshit, constantly tracking and advertising to you, etc. And you realize you might need to pay for those services but you don’t trust a company like Google or meta, etc. To not track you still so…
You eventually move on and then you find new things bit by bit to replace all those services. Some free, some paid. Some amazing, some just OK. But at least you’re happier with some privacy.
This question was inspired by my hatred of Temporal Anti-Aliasing which, in many games nowadays, is poorly used as a performance bandaid. On lower resolutions it will smudge and blur the image and certain bad cases of TAA will cause visible ghosting....
I’m upgrading because my phone is losing (lost?) support. I use a OnePlus 7 Pro and love it and wouldn’t bother upgrading otherwise. I’d appreciate some recommendations of android phones you like, please....
Apple tv sucks anyway. I’d like to remind people that it’s near the end of the mls season and they still have no android mobile app. They actively piss on anyone not totally in line with their ecosystem, etc.

Samsung has released a new video in support of Google’s #GetTheMessage campaign which calls for Apple to adopt RCS or “Rich Communication Services,” the cross-platform protocol pitched as a successor to SMS that adopts many of the features found in modern messaging apps… like Apple’s own iMessage.
I mean… I figure nearly half of us cities were designed before 1900, to some extent anyhow.
Like st Louis was incorporated in 1822. Plenty of cities were clearly designed before the automobile and then gave up the plot for Robert Moses bullshit.
Your last question nails it. Why would you ever trust meta? And without a huge contingent of people going with you, it’d be hard to pay for a new social service that you could potentially believe won’t at all profile you.
You’re arguing as if wireless audio is somehow better as ps2, etc was replaced by something better.
It’s simply not. You either buy a dumbass dongle or have to charge yet another thing. Along with that you can’t charge and listen to music at the same time without aforementioned dumb wireless ear buds.
It was a money grab, plain and simple. The 3.5 Jack is still monumentally viable and an asset.
I’m not a fan of the “war” between Android and Apple when it comes to SMS/texting. The rest of the world doesn’t use SMS/RCS/iMessage as much as WhatsApp and the like, so the US is pretty much lagging behind everyone else on this anyway....
OpenTF – the fork of HashiCorp’s Terraform infrastructure management project – is no more. The software has been renamed OpenTofu and placed under the oversight of The Linux Foundation.
But that does a whole disservice to say desktop in general. Many of us have been running Linux on a desktop for years without issue and thanks to a ton of hard work by devs not employed by steam.
There seem to be plentiful options for text chat servers, so I’m curious for those that self-host their own, what their preferences & experiences have been with them....

Ahh, I had skimmed over and didn’t see you were running it on k8s (so kubernetes executor makes sense. ;) )
This is good to know though. I actually just stood up a podman runner and it is vastly improved over what I had to do even a year ago if I remember. I’ll need to look into Testcontainers though too as we do use that. Good to know it’s at least progressing pretty well. Thanks!
