A few months ago I dropped my phone (Samsung Galaxy A70) and the screen broke. Got a new phone, problem solved. But there is some data on it that I forgot to include in my backups. Very small files but important for achive purposes....
Things that make me angry about my current smartphone Samsung Galaxy S21Ultra on a Verizon plan is the mandatory software updates in which they install WITHOUT MY PERMISSION stupid apps like Netflix and addictive gambling games and stacking block games and Candy crush. God knows what else they install without my permission. I...
I personally think this might be a “vote with your vallet” situation. Signaling to Google (and to other manufacturers) that people appreciate openness in their smartphones. Knowing Google though, it’s unlikely they will get it.
For the past few weeks I’ve been working on creating my own public radio station (it’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid). Well now it’s up and running but I don’t know what to do with it. So I thought I’d see what Lemmy thinks about the concept, before I go all in and start investing in licensing fees, better...
This year we made good progress. You know, Linux gaming becoming better, Reddit fucking up, Metaverse failing etc. But on the other hand Big Tech has or are planning to make some moves. Such as, Google’s Web Enviroment Integrity API (EDIT: they backed off), UK’s encryption bill, etc....
Hi, hope I can ask here. I’ve been using vlc for android as my music player but it really struggles after 5k local songs surprisingly so I’m looking for an alternative. The main problem I have is that after switching to the user account that has my local media, vlc refreshes and clears my playlist and I’m at the point...
I personally use Phonograph Plus although it has it’s own share of issues. The best one in my opinion was Vinyl Music Player but it had some issues with SD cards.
I don’t know if this qualifies (probably doesn’t) but When I meet a new person, I like to act like a smart guy at first and then act like a moron afterwards. It feels nice for some reason.
Yes I do have a brother. I like him even though he’s not exactly a bright person.
But I wouldn’t classify this as a “complex”. Perhaps I should have explained it further. When I meet a new person, let’s say I saw them in a hallway and decided to talk and vice versa, I talk about philosophy, books, art, humanity’s issues etc. (Not pretending to know about those) But after we split and see each other again, I talk about stupid/pointless stuff. Such as “If I were a tree I would drop my apples on random people’s heads”
I never bring up philosophy and stuff unless they bring it up or there is something around us that reminds me of it.
I cancelled my subscription since I received a notification that my browser is not supported. Perhaps I should have mentioned my issues with DRM as well, but this may have gone too far. One message is clear, too many messages are noise.
I really enjoy getting the most out of a computer/mobile device that I have. I love trying out different OSes, messing with a video game to squeeze as much as performance possible etc.
We are starting to see for quite some time big tech trying to get the internet under their control. We have seen half of the internet starting to block proxies. Tor is not usable in the normal internet anymore. More and more services require a government issued id for their account....
Is there a product out there that can be used in the way the picture below (or above) shows? A really small speaker that’s in (or silighly bigger) the similar size of phone’s built-in speaker.
UPDATE: Well… 15 minutes after making this post the phone fell out of my pocket and slided 20 meters away. Screen died. I guess I won’t be needing the speaker now.
But I believe this will be good opportunity to repair it. It was 4 years old. Thankfully one of my backup phones, an LG G4 still works. Which is 7 years old and has Android 6 on it. I’ll go and look for a custom ROM I guess.
comment a screenshot! also if youre usinf android what launcher / widgets / icon pack. considering the flurry of responses someone with the know-how should make a community about this
I’m honestly really happy that Elon Musk bought Twitter and basically destroyed it. If it weren’t for him, open protocols such as ActivityPub wouldn’t be on news. I wish I could say the same for Reddit though. The amount of information it holds is simply too much to ignore. During the blackout, it was hard to find answers to my tech related questions as all subreddits were private. Hopefully tech community will move on to Lemmy.
For me, it's a bidet toilet seat. I bought one that didn't really fit as well as I hoped, so now I am shopping for a v2 based on experience. I don't want to live without one going forward. That's for sure.

For me it feels like breaking up with someone after many years. At the same time, I feel a bit dirty mentioning the name in the post title.
