Yup. Yesterday, I was shocked to find out my favorite soccer game of all time PES was completely free of charge. It is now called “e-football”, but you guessed it, microtransactions everywhere. It did have a whole store for buying “coins”. Me being me, I’ve just been playing for free and having the time of my life 😂
I’ll just stop playing it when it gets to that point. I have never and never will pay for a single microtransaction. Plus, I don’t really play a lot of games anyway. I don’t even play daily. You know, life, work, kids and all that stuff. I can barely play a couple of hours a week anyway. :)
Imagine how Apple will feel if Google got docked for this. Apple’s app store is even worse. You can’t even side load apps on an iPhone/iPad without jailbreak.
Do you have a method that keeps sideloaded apps “verified” permanently? If you do, please do tell. I’d love to install YouTube++ on my kid’s tablet so they don’t have to sit through ads all the time.
Unfortunately I purchased this device on impulse with a carrier deal over the summer. The idea that my phone could be a tablet as well being essentially an all in wonder device was incredibly appealing....
Man, these foldable phones never appealed to me nor even made sense. I can never justify paying so much money for something like this. They’re just made weird and impractical. Their aspect ratio is weird on the inside and outside. The creese is something I can never get over. The risk of the screen cracking in the middle from folding and unfolding so much is another thing. You have to baby these things. I just can’t, and I think they’re just a gimmicks. Still rocking my Galaxy note 20 ultra from 2020. The thing is still running like a champ. Zero issues. Let’s all face it, phones have plateaued and companies are trying to excite people with “something new” and it’s not working like they expected it to.
Not to talk shit about Mac users, but in this day and age with how advanced technology is, you have to be insane to buy a Mac. What kills it for me is that nothing is upgradeable on the damn thing, like zero. If your internal drive dies, you’re SOL. And if I got this correctly, they now have the bios OS on the same drive, the Internal. So, you won’t even be able to get to your bios. You won’t be able to install the OS on external hard drive in case you needed to. This is insane and I can never understand why anyone would buy into this shit.
I guess that’s reasonable. I personally can’t see myself ever getting one for the reasons I’ve mentioned. But hey, everyone does what makes them happy.
I get the fast and the battery life and all that, but by principle, I just can never own one. I also never buy any windows laptop that is not upgradeable. I keep them for a while and want to be able to upgrade them. That’s why I’ve been thinking of getting a framework laptop.
I just found out about AppImageLauncher, a package handler for AppImages. It organizes them, creates desktop files for you and handles updates and removal....
But we are cool, though. We are sending 100 billion to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. We can manage with a $100 for groceries for the whole month, but how will poor Israel be able to murder children if we stop funding them???
Edit: glad to know that I’m being downvoted by those who support Israel murdering civilians and children in Palestine. Please keep the downvotes coming. Fucking unbelievable. Downvotes don’t mean shit on Lemmy, but it’s good to see people’s true colors.
I just want kde on Wayland not to have blury font with fractional scaling. It’s just unusable. Once that’s fixed, I’m all set to use it as my daily driver.
Just your regular 27" 4k monitor. If I set it to 200%, everything is fine, but things are huge. I have to have it on 175%, and that makes the font very blurry. Also, any window decorations that are not default plasma get blurry, too. I’ve already posted about it in the kde instance and zamunda (a KDE dev) said it was fixed in plasma 6. So, I guess I’ll just wait it out.
I honestly can never imagine Linux without KDE plasma. It has its flaws for sure, but at least I can modify the shit out of it to force it to meet my needs 100%.
Absolutely. Gnome is becoming gorgeous, but its workflow is not for me. Also, all the missing things that I have to add extensions for is just not ideal. I just re-create the gnome theme in kde when I miss gnome. or just install it in a VM and enjoy for for a little while. Otherwise, kde has always been where I belong.
I would use it if it supported 4k better. Every time I set the resolution to 4k and the scaling to 2x, the whole UI gets jacked up and something can’t be clicked anymore. Window bars stay really small. The panel gets all messed up. That’s basically on every single distribution I’ve tried with xfce
Are they so different that it’s justified to have so many different distributions? So far I guess that different package manager are the reason that divides the linux community. One may be on KDE and one on GNOME but they can use each other’s packages but usually you are bound to one manager
Not much really. It is great, but slow as shit and makes me want to toss my computer across the room. I just want to install one tiny 5 kb package, I don’t want you to take 10 minutes checking all the RPM fusions repos and go to the moon and back then install my package. No, just install the damn thing. I’ll ask you when I need you to check that long list of repos. 😂
I actually did install it. I hate to judge it in a virtual machine, but I’ve noticed a small difference. It’s still slow, but not as slow as the other one. Fun fact, the only reason why I don’t use fedora is that I hate their installer. I have 3 drives on my PC, and I’m so scared that I’d mess things up and lose my photos/videos/games etc 😂 The installer is so confusing. I remember figuring it out once then just forgot it again.
Same here, that’s why I have 3 different drives in my PC, 512GB nvme ssd for root, 1TB SATA SSD for home, and 2 TB SATA SSD just for games/emulation and steam

How is your deductible and max out of pocket? You don’t count that? Lol I don’t run into too many people who say anything good about our healthcare scam system.
No, I didn’t. I watch my bills closely. When I heard about this, I started watching my account even more closely waiting for them to do so I can strike. Looks like they stopped the whole thing before getting to me.
I used to go into the store to find a game. Now I go into the game to find a store.
