Despite the memes, Arch isn’t that hard to install nowadays. The Wiki is stellar and archinstall is a thing (as well as EndeavourOS).

But Debian testing is a fine choice as well, of course.

No. Both CUPS and Netflix work perfectly fine for me on Arch.

You’re probably confusing it with Alpine.

Sich als relativ kleiner Mailanbieter zu trauen, eine (vollkommen berechtigte) Warnung vor dem wahrscheinlich weitestverbreiteten Mailclient zu verschicken, ist schon beeindruckend, finde ich.

In my experience, once you’ve got Arch set up, it less work to maintain than Manjaro. On Arch, you have noticeably more frequent, but smaller, package updates. On Manjaro, compatibility issues with the AUR may occur, which happened a few times for me, while that won’t happen on Arch.

Keepass allows you to use a passphrase in combination with a randomly generated keyfile. You only need to copy the keyfiles to your devices once (not via cloud services, obviously). Your actual database can then be synchronized via any cloud provider of your choice (hell, you could even upload it publicly for everyone to see) and it would still be secure.

Gibt es einen bestimmten Grund, dass du “AFAB” statt “cis” verwendest bzw. haben diese Begriffe unterschiedliche Bedeutungen/Konnotationen?

Mir war “AFAB” bis eben kein Begriff und ich musste schon bisschen nachdenken, um drauf zu kommen, dass das wahrscheinlich “assigned female at birth” bedeutet.

Es spielen halt auch viel weniger Frauen Schach als Männer, da entstehen solche Diskrepanzen allein aus statistischen Gründen. Wenn man den besten Spieler aus einem bestimmten, kleinen Land betrachtet, ist das meist ähnlich; der beste Däne ist z.B. Weltrangliste 137.

Falls dich das Thema mehr interessiert, ist aber die Karriere von Judit Polgar (und ihren Schwestern) durchaus beachtenswert. Sie hat es als einzige Frau jemals in die Top 10 der Weltrangliste geschafft (Platz 8) und ist mit Sicherheit die beste Schachspielerin aller Zeiten. Sie ist zwar nicht mehr aktiv, aber mit ihrem letzten Rating würde sie noch Weltranglistenplatz 72 belegen.

Würde dir da jetzt nicht widersprechen, aber andererseits hat grade Schach auch schon seit Langem eine “Open Category” als Standard. Genau so eine Kategorie hat ja World Aquatics beim Schwimmen grade erst eingeführt, um Trans-Athletinnen eine Teilnahme zu ermöglichen.

Gut, Carlsen ist natürlich ein krasser statistischer Ausreißer - nicht nur für Norwegen, sondern weltweit. Der Abstand zwischen ihm und Caruana (Weltrang 2) ist laut 2700chess aktuell größer als der zwischen Caruana und Le Quang Liem (Weltrang 17).

Nimmt man Magnus mal raus, bewegen wir uns aber wieder in einem ähnlichen Bereich; Tari ist Weltrang 120, Hammer ist 159.

Without wanting to be elitist, I’d go further than that. While archinstall is a nice convenience, even the “manual” installation is really just diligently reading and following the wiki guide.

If that’s too much for you, you’re likely going to struggle when stuff needs manual intervention and you’re probably better off with a different distro.

Of course, one doesn’t have to install Arch manually; archiso and Endeavour are great conveniences and exist for a reason.

That doesn’t change the fact that people who rely on those tools not because they want to save some time/effort but because they’re unable to follow wiki instructions are likely better off with something other than Arch.

That depends a bit on the ruleset. According to Guinness (where hyperventilating with pure oxygen beforehand is allowed), it’s 24:37.36. According to the freediving organisation AIDA (where pre-breathing oxygen isn’t allowed), it’s 11:35

Ich hab erster Hand Leute gesehen die NPC rassistisch verwendet haben und auch welche die es Sexistisch verwendet haben.

Hab ich noch nie in dem Kontext gehört und die Verbindung zwischen NPC und Herkunft/Geschlecht ergibt sich mir auch nicht. Ich kenne das primär als Begriff für “uninteressante Person ohne Tiefgang”.

Yes, but the tendency is there. Notably, “Alea iacta est” (commonly translated as “The die has fallen”) is closer in literal meaning to “The die has been thrown”.

Ich weiß noch nicht, ob ich ganz von Reddit wegkomme; ich war auf r/chess ziemlich aktiv und habe bisher noch keine akzeptable Alternative gefunden. Vielleicht werden es die Lichess Foren, aber "lineare" Foren sind detaillierten Diskussionen nicht grade zuträglich.

Hab mir vorsichtshalber mal einen eigenen API key erstellt, vielleicht kompiliere ich mir ein eigenes Infinity-Derivat damit. Falls ich damit nicht zufrieden bin, werde ich wohl kein Reddit mehr auf dem Handy nutzen (und auf dem Desktop hab ich eh kaum Reddit genutzt).
