Also sometimes it just literally does nothing. Push the play button and nothing at all happens.
That’s a bug with the notification/lockscreen widget AFAICT. Pressing play on the main player window should work. This is the most serious bug I’ve found. It’s quite a promising player otherwise.
I’m happy to know that Pocketcasts is OS now, that was my player of choice before trying to jump to Antennapod.
Install Magisk Hideprops Config and Universal Safetynet Fix
Enable zygisk and add your banking app to the exception list
If your app still detects magisk as an app you can ask magisk to hide itself, or create a separate ‘work’ profile using Island (couldn’t figure out how to link it, it’s the app by Oasis Feng on the Play Store).
You’ll need to do reinstall magisk after every system update, doesn’t take too long.
Oh that’s what I had to do for my Mi 11x/F3 as well. Good to hear. I remember reading that Xiaomi had gone the way of Samsung and completely stopped official unlocks.
I believe the reason they do this is because some resellers were unlocking the bootloader and installing a ROM with malware and selling that off to unsuspecting customers. This delay (and needing to be registered with a phone number) makes that process both impractical and easy to detect.
You are absolutely right about efficiency. Even the (less efficient) M2 is way better than the 6800U for example under single-threaded load. It’s ~5W vs ~15W, around 3 times as power hungry as the M2, while performing slightly worse.
Your original discussion with @lemillionsocks, was about power usage while gaming, and the corresponding worst-case battery life. I was referring to this as efficiency.
I understand now that the term was misleading The M1 is 25% more frugal than the M2 under worst-case load.

I was wondering, with all the different Lemmy clients and frontends, what/which out of these do people actually use? To answer this, I made a poll if anyone wants to fill it out, and I tried to put every client I could find.
I didn’t realise how much I missed image peek (long press a post to popup the thumbnail image) until I switched back from jerboa to sync when it first came out. Especially since I mostly seem to be reading webcomics.
I don’t comment much, but sync’s draft feature feels very solid.
Otherwise I did feel jerboa was good and would have gotten used to it.
Peek means that as long as you’re touching the thumbnail, you see the zoomed in image (after a short delay). When you release, it snaps back to the front page. Without peek you would touch, view the image, and then gesture ‘back’ to go back to the main page.
This works on articles and gifs too, not just images. So if the thumbnail is informative you can save a lot of time and steps and get a quick gist of what the article is talking about
Because why not! Easy way to SCP files over, run scripts. Repurpose old devices as always on, low power servers. It ties in nicely with Tasker so if you want to extend functionality it’s easy.

Thanks for your insight. You seem to have some experience.
I’m currently researching a solar hybrid power system in India and am going through different battery types. We have used deep-cycle lead-acid batteries with a regular UPS and I’m familiar with their lifesoan.
Do lifepo4s last longer? I’m only seeing marginally longer lifespans. I’m also concerned about safety. I’m quite scared of regular lithiums and have read that lifepo4s are more hardy.
What about maintenance? Anything else I need to know about them?

As a digital nomad, I’m guessing you would have been to relatively low CoL places like Bali, Thailand, maybe Eastern Europe or LatAm. You have to remember that your experience as someone from the global north, earning in a strong currency is very different from a local person there.

Thanks for the answers! I had a bad taste in my mouth after his dandruff video which felt very corporate but I gave him the benefit of the doubt assuming that the science was solid. I guess my gut instinct was right.
I still think a lot of his videos are good, it’s just sad that the obviously sponsored ones are low quality. I’ll check out the links and response video someone else posted and keep being skeptical.

It doesn’t directly, but some banking apps detect magisk in the app list, so even if you’ve added the apps to the exception list in magisk they’ll refuse to launch.
Installing the same apps in the work profile makes the magisk app inaccessible/invisible to them, which allows them to start up normally.
Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t the first successful attempt to marry cinematic aspirations with the traditional branching narratives and simulationist world-building of CRPGs. 2009’s Dragon Age: Origins had a very similar mission statement, offering a spiritual successor to BioWare’s earlier Baldur’s Gate titles long before...
Tell me more about what you disliked about D:OS. I’m playing through in co-op (in the endgame right now) and want to commiserate.
For me it was the bugs and some weird choices where things that should work to progress don’t, and some progress is so convoluted that we had to look it up and we were like ugh wth.
Looking up stuff is annoying when something you’re sure should work logically doesn’t.
Fair. I was playing a warrior so combat wasn’t as much an issue for me. Tbh when we were starting, someone told us to play DOS 2 instead of 1 since it’s a better gameplay experience and I wonder if all these rough edges have been fixed.
OMG long-press to peek is so satisfying. And small things like image viewing. So easy with one hand double-tap slide, while connect had me pinching like a caveman.
