Couple weeks ago I did a cleanse and found my subscriptions had ballooned to nearly $150/mo. They should not be able to charge on auto pay when they switch the terms and raise the prices.

If you’re in the US I’m assuming you’d be considered an independent contractor, in which case they would provide an agreement and you can negotiate from there if needed. It should specify what happens if they’re unhappy with the result, like requesting revisions. But as long as you fulfill the terms of the agreement in good faith, I don’t think you need to stress about it.

Not even remotely a lawyer and only have a little experience writing IC agreements for a small nonprofit.

My roomie wants to try living alone and our lease ends in a couple months. I’m really tired of paying my landlord’s mortgage so I’m considering buying a decent looking prefab for 120k. I’m 28 and haven’t even bought a car much less a house. But I can’t stand renting and burning another 70k. It’s ridiculous.

My problem is I’ve never yet really seen a project through, or contributed to FOSS to experience that, though I really want to. I feel like I’d get overwhelmed, and can’t possibly contribute anything of value, and would just get in the way. I know it’s not true, there are endless projects of varying complexity, and I could certainly learn an existing codebase if I found the confidence to try.

Hi there, I’ve been in that “wouldn’t mind if something happened” phase for five years or so, with spurts of active ideation. I have chronic tonic clonic (lmfao) seizures (epilepsy), have chronic depression, I’ve developed agoraphobia and have been self-isolating similar to you. I’ve also lost 35lbs the past couple years from an already less-than-healthy weight. Every therapy session is about food and it’s exhausting. Every week it’s “what got in your way of eating?”, “what am I missing?”, “How can we make it easier to eat next week?”… (it’s good therapy, just frustrating).

I’m a good friend but whenever my friends ask about me I feel like I never have anything but doom and gloom when they’re off living l vibrant lives (not without their own struggles of course). So it’s hard to feel like it’s worth being my friend and like I’m doing them a favor pulling away.

Probably nothing helpful in there, just turned into my own venting… Lol. But if you don’t currently see a psychologist or therapist please do look into it.

So the work I do is 100% remote now. I moved to Southern California because of an industry that has in part moved to remote work. My only requirements are a temperate climate, nature access and hopefully a blue-ish state. Is there a place out there that makes sense financially? I’m hoping to buy a house less then 500k. I...

Moved to Kalamazoo in 2015 for school and haven’t left, really love it here and it sounds like a good fit for OP maybe. From my experience, pretty good remote/wfh options.

Actually, no. In this case, everyone is only loved by one person–whoever brought them in. All love the flows down from the top to the newest members.

The actually design flaw is that you aren’t loved by the people you love, and you don’t love the people who love you 💀

Then of course the person at the top (sorry OP) is loved by nobody, and then last members have nobody to love. But if the final members love OP, that would create a nice positive feedback loop, as it were.

What are your favorite video games that force you to pull out the pen and paper?

Ever since the language puzzle in Tunic that got me to fill up 6 pocket sized pages of notes over multiple days while trying to puzzle it out as I tried to and, eventually, succeeded at translating the in-game “paper” manual, I’ve had a craving for games that force you to pull out a notebook and take notes/puzzle things...

It’s okay. I hit a new weight high of 129 lbs (I am 5’11" so hitting as low as 119 is fucked) but now the idea of eating even more is extra nauseating and unappealing. About to see my therapist though and they’ll be thrilled with the gains. Anyone else fucking despise food and eating and biological needs??

Just as with books, movies, plays etc the past holds a treasure trove of amazing experiences. Unless you have a lot more free time than I do it’s unlikely you’ve played anywhere near the majority of the classics. Let’s get out those pink sunnies and compare notes on some of our favourite releases....

What is something good happening in your city/town/local area?

My city redesign our downtown roads to have a whole bunch of horrible one ways in the 50s, and we are FINALLY changing back to how it was while making improvements like bike lanes. The first attempt at bike lanes with the current layout was horrible, basically death traps everywhere... Hoping for something better this time, lol....

I'm a theatre kid working as a data analyst in local government healthcare.

I'm trying to learn Unreal Engine 5 but I'm struggling to keep going even though it's a lifelong dream. Though I've made good and rewarding progress and I took all next week off to let myself hyperfocus without getting fired.

The Wall by Pink Floyd is my favorite album ever, and the first piece of art to make me sob. Every. Damn. Time.
