What is a small .EPUB reader that is easy to install for my small Puppy remaster?

My question is basically the title. I’m making my own Puppy Linux remaster and it already has a .PDF reader for it that is very small. I think it’s called Evince? It has a native GTK UI and starts in a second, uses very little RAM and CPU. Now I need a .EPUB reader. I’ve seen a couple different .EPUB reader apps out there...

I didn’t realize MuPDF did both! That might be what I need. Thank you.

Polish Hackers Repaired Trains the Manufacturer Artificially Bricked. Now The Train Company Is Threatening Them (www.404media.co)

The situation is a heavy machinery example of something that happens across most categories of electronics, from phones, laptops, health devices, and wearables to tractors and, apparently, trains. In this case, NEWAG, the manufacturer of the Impuls family of trains, put code in the train’s control systems that prevented them...

Man, just go back to normal trains and now computers with attached trains. Can’t hack or remotely kill what doesn’t have a computer in it.

older laptop distro recommendarion

Recently I’ve gave up Windows for Linux and installed Ubuntu with KDE Plasma desktop on my pc and laptop from 2007. It’s an i7 Intel processor with 8gb ddr ram so I thought it would be fine, but it seems quite sluggish. What distro could I use that would be faster and still fully functional? Thanks for your help in advance.

Why do notifications of replies to my post lead to a blank page?

I made a post a little while back on one sub, it got come replies. Nothing abnormal. But when I click on them to reply it just leads to a mostly blank page. Not an error but not a blank page either. Just a mostly blank page. Lemmy still shows the header bar on top. And the links to “modlog” and “legal” and...

Does anyone know how to locally archive the twitter account of a dead person?

As everyone eventually will as the internet gets older, I know a few dead people. Obviously I don’t have access to their account, I can just see their tweets and photos that they left public. I have tried to archive them using www.archive.is which does correctly archive what it can see at the users account, but obviously...

Is there a blogging service that gives you hits/stats information similar to blogger.com?

So lots of folks are wary of anything owned by google so I’ll just give a quick summary. In your dashboard of blogger.com you can find stats for your blog. This does not let you really spy on your users (good!) but it does basically tell if people are actually bothering to read what you write or not. It’ll show you little...

OceanGate CEO Bragged About Using Expired Carbon Fiber to Build Doomed Sub (futurism.com)

New evidence strongly suggests that OceanGate’s submersible, which imploded and killed all passengers on its way to the Titanic wreck, was unfit for the journey. The CEO, Stockton Rush, bought discounted carbon fiber past its shelf life from Boeing, which experts say is a terrible choice for a deep-sea vessel. This likely...

[All y'all] the misery of airport security theater (infosec.pub)

Alt Text: A man in a black shirt and black backward-facing ball cap is leaning against a porch railing overlooking a mowed lawn with a four-lane road and trees in the background. The text at the top says “I bring a sort of “breasts and a penis” vibe to the airport that the TSA body scanner don’t really like”
