ericbomb,

You mean the rice I eat that is grown mostly on other side of the world didn’t appear at my door step magically???

ericbomb,

Ahh, if only all parents actually followed the divorce agreement and weren’t litigious monsters.

ericbomb,

And of course head of youtube did youtube things. “Cute kid video” costs pennies on the dollar compared to capturing and editing wild life videos. So even if they got a measly 10% of the views they probably saw it as good business.

ericbomb,

“What do we do now?”

“Here’s the plan”

I’ll pour one out for you friend.

ericbomb,

Boo I love stupid challenge videos and feels like so many youtubers burn themselves out and so cut back to trash as a result.

Stupid algo that rewards garbage and won’t reward creators who spend the time. Like they make a 30 minute video of talking and will get as much reach as a 20 minute video that took weeks of work. Like just to get their own subs to see their vids they have to play games, and the algo loves the trash.

ericbomb,

Don’t worry friend, surely the low effort high viewer ship format won’t encourage him to spam his channel with it!..

sweats nervously

ericbomb,

I mean you say that, but top movies are usually high quality big budget. Where it was thousands of professionals doing their best with state od the art tech.

Best books are generally pay off from authors who have been working tirelessly for decades.

Best comics are veterans that almost everyone agrees are funny a big part of the time.

Then we get to youtube where we have enormous content creators that are just reacting to tik toks. So I blame the algo.

ericbomb,

I remember those!

Heck, I remember mine craft prank wars with h20delerious. They were all happy to participate, stakes were 0, but the best pranks were creative and over engineered.

Did they over react for content? Yes, of course.

Was it fun seeing creative pranks in totally harmless ways anyway? Yes. Yes it was.

ericbomb,

So ABET accredits programs, not schools.

So a school would have either national or regional accreditation (most likely regional) then their programs could have more specific accreditation.

Like Kent State has regional accreditation, then their program has recognition from ABET.

Since there are a million program accreditation things and I have no idea which ones are worthwhile, I didn’t really get into those.

ericbomb,

I have to stop by there every now and then because I’m looking for something and the answer is on a reddit post.

But for daily chilling/posting I’m all for Lemmy.

ericbomb,

Oh yeah adding a half can of Chilli makes it feel like a full and tasty meal!

I actually just cooked like 2 frozen hashbrowns with a can of Chilli yesterday and it was super tasty.

ericbomb,

Nope, most on topic link I’ve ever seen.

Also:

"Cheap. The Boomers destroyed the economy. Sorry to any Boomers reading this. We don’t like that you did it either. . But if you voted for Reagan, Mulroney, or Thatcher and you don’t regret it, this cookbook isn’t for you. "

I like these people.

ericbomb,

I’m more of a “cook over ripe banana into the oatmeal” person.

Gives it good flavor and a bit of sweetness.

ericbomb,

I mean yeah, but what do you like to cook with them! I cook with them a lot, usually I’ll make a “burrito bowl” just in rice with black beans.

Chickpeas I like to use in curry.

Do you have a favorite cheap meal with lentils?

ericbomb,

A quarter pound of beef in Mac and cheese is ace and still super cheap.

Or can of tuna.

What is the name of the meme, where the person defeated an enemy, then behind them are escalating more dangerous looking opponents?

I can’t remember the name of the meme but it’s in web comic style where a person will be like “I’m so glad to have finished college! That was so hard!” while facing a dude titled “college”. Then behind him with a giant bat is a buffer cartoon character with a baseball bat titled “Looking for a job with no...

ericbomb,

Thank you! Was driving me crazy!

ericbomb,

Okay but I want chaotic good as an option because cars wouldn’t hit me there and my bike lane wouldn’t just turn into a turn lane randomly.

ericbomb,

Yay I can play all those board games that require multiple people!

Any chance to have a separated [PORN] tag to avoid blocking all kind of NSFW posts?

Many NSFW have nothing to do with porn. Sometimes are horror contents, some times are crude images, some times are just lazy people who don’t know of the Spoiler tag. Can we have a quick and easy way to filter off all the (very funny but not alway wanted) Porn posts without locking out those other contents???

ericbomb,

I’m not familiar with your instance, but it’s possible that it’s not federated with the two big porn instances.

ericbomb,

OOF Pneumonia.

Like, what a cursed word. How would you even spell that? Nuhmownyuh?

ericbomb, (edited )

People like you being in charge is how English got to this position in the first place!

ericbomb,

Well which word would you pick for that?

ericbomb,

I like this one because I instantly knew what word it was despite it having a brand new spelling. Almost like letters should have meanings.

ericbomb,

Etobicoke

Upon googling it I found it’s pronounced like this: Uh tow buh kow

So yes.

ericbomb,

I failed to read the the poem properly.

This language is just… ugh.

ericbomb,

My poor GF knows English as a second language and was very embarrassed when I pointed out the L was silent, because she had been saying it that way her entire life.

But mostly to her parents who also speak Spanish, so mostly she was embarrassed that I had to tell her XD In Spanish you pronounce the L, so she didn’t even consider that the L was silent in English (Because why would it be).

ericbomb,

Totally not me having problems spelling that word at 29.

What IS that D doing THERE?

ericbomb,

We just really wish when we stole them we changed the spelling to match the pronunciation if we wanted the pronunciation to stay the same of where we stole it from.

ericbomb,

narrows eyes

Look I don’t “think” that was me this last few weeks. I’m pretty sure my support engineer butt was smart enough to check resources before blaming RAM…

But it totally could have been me, and in that case I blame dev.

ericbomb,

I mean I think it’s popular enough to be usable at least! Which is the biggest problem with new social media, all the features in the world mean nothing if there is a small user base.

ericbomb,

Oh please I hope so.

It’s so frustrating how many youtube creators have to play stupid games just to make it so that their own subscribers see their videos. If I’m subscribed, I wanna see on my home screen when a new video is added by someone I’m subscribed too. I don’t wanna see clickbait_master_10,000’s newest video on there. Like there are so many content creators with millions of subs, who get no views because the aLgOrItHm decided people don’t wanna see their videos, even though all those people subbed to them.

ericbomb,

For some reason whenever I go there these days to see what my family has posted, I’ll sometimes get 4 suggested content posts in a row. With recently them being like super anti vegetarian and anti electric vehicle.

As a vegetarian who uses electric vehicles, I know I’m silly, but I don’t need facebook reminding me all the time!

ericbomb,

You don’t buy a mattress every week?

ericbomb,

I don’t understand the logic of that for long term products! Like maybe do it for 2 weeks after you first search, and then maybe 3 years later.

Like, how can that possibly work?

ericbomb,

I like the way you use the internet.

ericbomb,

Berkely is no longer listed I will say, as for Edinburgh, Edinburgh announced their partnership so it is official.

ed.ac.uk/…/partnership_opens_doors_for_students_f…

And as part of the agreement this gentlemen joined the UOpeople board.

www.uopeople.edu/about/…/sir-timothy-oshea/

So even with that post, all the people they claim they are partnered with, have released press releases that they do in fact have a partnership. If their courses were not up to snuff, I would hope those colleges would have taken those down and made a statement by now and had their names removed from the website. Again, that’s the hope.

Honestly now I’m curious how many of the leadership team have active roles, because they have a pretty star studded cast. If people from top colleges are even semi regularly auditing courses that’s a big security. But it could be they’re on a yearly mailing list and they forget their name is on the UOpeople website for most of the year.

But I suppose the real test will be in the next couple years as they currently have an open application to get regionally accredited. So fingers crossed that either they get accepted, or the regional accreditation office rips them a new one and sends them spiraling into bankruptcy if they are scammy. As either way that should be the end of UOpeople drama one way or another.

ericbomb,

I apparently have nothing to do but look into UOPeople, so I emailed a few of their partners to ask if they should still be listed on the website. If I get a “WTF Who are those people” as a response I’ll let you know!
