I made the huge mistake of upgrading on the same day of the new release. I had copied my inventory folder to a new pull of lemmy-ansible, checked out 1.3.0, and ran it with no errors. But refreshing the took a very long time to load. The closest issue I found was at github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/4244 but that’s a deep dive...
The lemmy frontend will come up fast, but you would see an error and a popup telling you that lemmy is still starting. If you can see content, then the DB migration is finished already. The 1.3.0 branch of ansible doesn’t have any changes which would cause performance impact. Currently it just adjusts the readme and adds pictrs 0.4.7.
I don’t think there ever can be a better icon. Some are experimenting with a down-arrow pointing to a flat surface, but the floppy fisk is much better.
A mining rig should work, but you might want to restrict the GPU to one model, as loading 4G on PCIx1 when switching models would be too slow. Only one way to try it out really. At worst it could make an alchemist.
Separately do you know if AMD Radeon RX580s are capable of contributing to AI Horde?
Eh, I’ve had interaction with snowe before and I found them unnecessarily confrontational. I agree that the lemmy dev comment “I hope it teaches you a lesson” could have been avoided, but the patronizing attitude I saw on github comments from snowe was also not cool.
loyalty and respect to your team doesn’t mean sticking around in that position. It just means not screwing them by slacking off (when the work would fall on them) or snitching or scabbing etc
“Work ethic” for most wage slaves, is just being a good subservient worker bee that does whatever the boss tells them. It’s a ridiculously vague term and your definition is not at all common sense. That’s why I explicitly specified “to your colleagues”.
There’s so much negativity and fighting and shit talking in the comments over there. It’s like some people have a personal goal of making others look stupid in comparison to themselves and they just try as hard as possible to rub it in if they know something you don’t....
All a community like this needs is one or two passionate people to keep posting content regularly, even if it’s just links to articles. Be the change you want to see.
Is it possible to make money using your Linux knowledge if you’re not a developer? I know I can become a professional devops or sysadmin if I take some courses and master advanced networking. But is there something I can do now as an average, moderately experienced linux user?
Typical onboarding scenario is to start at low level and climb up. Apply for helpdesk positions in companies with linux infrastructure. But the game is currently moving towards devops, so I would suggest you add some knowledge like ansible and terraform in your repertoire.
