If it’s not gaming I’m dual booting into Linux as my primary productivity OS. Even then, a lot of the games I play do run perfectly fine under Linux. Been going strong with this since 2015 and I don’t have much negative to say about it. Ymmv
“Windows 10 will reach end of support on October 14, 2025. The current version, 22H2, will be the final version of Windows 10, and all editions will remain in support with monthly security update releases through that date. Existing LTSC releases will continue to receive updates beyond that date based on their specific lifecycles.”
Linux support with steam is great. Linux is not what it used to be. It’s very user friendly these days, just a bit of a learning curve as things are just done differently.
By now, you may have heard about Elon Musk’s handpicked CEO for X, Linda Yaccarino, and her disastrous interview with CNBC’s Julia Boorstin at Vox Media’s Code 2023 event. However, somewhat overlooked amid some of the more viral moments of the discussion, Yaccarino dropped some previously unknown stats that don’t exactly...
Exactly. This they know. They’re low orbit. What does low orbit mean? They’re more susceptible to gravity… so obviously they’re gonna fall at some point. I get that it’s not good for them to fall but like you said: “isn’t this their business model?” They must have planned for this. Nobody could possibly expect low orbit satellites being pulled in by gravity to orbit for 39 years.
I just wonder about cost to produce batteries, lack of recycling, and the cost of a car accident with a battery powered vehicle involved. For that, I am so far uncertain of its sustainability.

I’m trying to better understand hosting a Lemmy Instance. Lurking discussions it seems like some people are hosting from the Cloud or VPS. My understanding is that it’s better to futureproof by running your own home server so that you have the data and the top most control of hardware, software etc. My understanding is that...
Well technically a “server” is a machine dedicated to “serving” something, like a service or website or whatever. A regular desktop can be a server, it’s just not built as well as a “real” server.
Yeah, not all of them though. Doom eternal, at the time, kept having a frustrating crash for me so I lived in windows like I completed it. Didn’t even attempt with elden ring. Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t work either.
But yes, in general I will game on Linux when it works. It is my preferred kernel.
Ya don’t get me wrong, it’s so much better than 15 years ago. Until doom eternal I was already exclusively gaming on Linux. Then I just assume elden ring and cyberpunk wouldn’t work well so I didn’t even bother trying. And ya, for the hardware I have and the 60fps cap I’m surprised at how bad elden ring sometimes performs in windows…
This. Back when I was a spring chicken I had nothing better to do with my time than download random songs and albums. Ain’t nobody got time for that now.
When I was there, conversations start in french, then you have to go through the song and dance of saying you don’t speak french, and I’ve heard stories in certain areas where some french don’t like english only speakers.
I don’t get it. This poll is largely in favor of jacks. I love my Bluetooth buds so much more. No more with I have to deal with broken wires. No more do I have to deal with moving my hand and accidentally snagging the cord, forcing my phone to the floor. No more do I have to deal with the cord creating noise as it rubs against the zipper of my jacket…
Solved with a cigarette lighter powered Bluetooth adapter that’s small enough to pack around. Or you can get aux ones too.
I used to do a ton of travelling too. I haven’t used that jack on my phone in over 10 years.
Even at that, if you’re plugging in a cord to your phone what’s wrong with an adapter? Basically the same thing. Additionally I think you can get ones that allow you to use aux and charge at the same time
How does it compare to canada? I legit have no idea. I just remember reading in a thread like 2 days ago how an american person moved to canada and one of the main complaints was how pay was less and housing was way more.
Is this really a thing? I had an account when digg did what reddit is doing, I deleted my account once, and started again, and my second account I just abandoned. This sounds like a chicken and egg approach lol.

That’s awesome, I could technically do this as well. I’m guessing T-Mobile is probably a lot cheaper than starlink. What’s your battery situation like? Do you find you collect enough solar to charge them while running a laptop? What hobbies do you have, if it sounds like you spend all your time on the boat?
