Did you read that article? The way people talk about you’d think they were donating to conversion camps. But the two organizations named were… The Fellowship of Christian Athletes and The Salvation Army. I mean far be it from me to say what constitutes “anti-lgbt organizations”, but it seems clear to me now why the specific organizations are never mentioned.

Thank you! It drives me crazy how threads about chick fil-a are always exactly the same. “Bigots” and “chicken sucks anyway”. Something didn’t pass the smell test.

CFA employees make well above minimum wage around here.

I’ve never in my life seen an ad in Gmail mobile app in-line as though it were something in your inbox. I get really frustrated at the indignance over “ad company does ads and you’re mad” as if there’s not a difference when things get escalated.

It makes me so happy to see I’m being beaten here to post things like this!

I love Climate Town, but have such a hard time consuming long-form YouTube like that.

charles,

Will it work for Gmail’s link hijackers where it routes you first to Google then forwards you to the actual site?

charles,

As mentioned by another poster, it’s a gambling term. But when someone asks “what’s the over/under on…”, you’re kind of asking “what’s the number where there’s a 50% chance of it being either higher or lower.”

With that said, it doesn’t really make sense in this context, imo. They could have just used “chance”

Alternate question: what kinda settings are used in F3D to stop an extrusion at another wall? Or am I overthinking this?

charles,
@charles@lemmy.world avatar

No, just hobby stuff around the house. I normally use FreeCAD on Linux, so I’m not used to all the controls for F360.

charles,
@charles@lemmy.world avatar

Ow my ribs.

But for real thanks! I’ll take a look when I sit back down at my windows computer. As far as I know, I didn’t change any of the dimensions that would have affected the fins like that… Maybe I changed the wrong parameter.

charles,
@charles@lemmy.world avatar

There were some errors that popped up and then went away. How does one find the timeline? I can also open the original file fresh and make my param changes again.

charles,

Thanks!

It was about the stolen DVD / VCR combo players. So… That should clarify things

People who say that actually want a complete and total ban on guns, but acknowledge the constitution says what it says and amendments are literally impossible in today’s political climate.

Also, one could argue a “well regulated” militia wouldn’t send guns home with its members. It could be kept at a central facility.

charles,
@charles@lemmy.world avatar

It’s almost like those programs don’t work, and we just need a total prohibition on guns 🤷

That’s not true. Depending on bean extraction and quantity, a standard “cup” of coffee will have 100-200mg of caffeine. Black tea bags have around 40-60. A good rule of thumb is about 4x. Getting shit tier coffee goes for about $8/lb and will make around 30 cups, so about 25c per cup. So compared to the meme, coffee is still more expensive per mg of caffeine.

Edit: on Amazon you can get 200mg tablets for about 8c each. So that would be your best bang for the buck. Semi related, an old coworker would dissolve a caffeine pill in hot water and call it “Mormon coffee”; he was a character.

Twitter is losing daily active users. CEO Linda Yaccarino confirmed it. (mashable.com)

By now, you may have heard about Elon Musk’s handpicked CEO for X, Linda Yaccarino, and her disastrous interview with CNBC’s Julia Boorstin at Vox Media’s Code 2023 event. However, somewhat overlooked amid some of the more viral moments of the discussion, Yaccarino dropped some previously unknown stats that don’t exactly...

Great work on the comic. I don’t know what it is, but the bit about the keychain really gave the map part an extra punch and had me actual lol.

charles,

Oh my bad. I saw the “poorlydrawnlines” in the top of the post on Sync and thought that was the username, but I guess it’s the domain of the image? It was early and I hadn’t had coffee yet.

Edit: yeah, that was it. I feel like the “.com” would go a long way for clarity.

That’s the title of OPs linked article. What’s a lemming to do?

charles,

Not only that, Amazon has the mechanisms to prevent counterfeiting today: dedicated bins for individual sellers products. They just make the vendors pay an extra fee to use it.

Literally extorting their sellers. “Gee it’d be a shame if some counterfeit merchandise were to be sold instead of yours. I could protect you from that”

E2E is not enough. You can still be subpoenaed for Signal messages if they aren’t auto-deleted. Just ask all the folks involved in the trump indictments.

I thought after some initial inflammatory headlines, ultimately the stock sale was a periodically scheduled sale. Has information on that changed?

charles,
@charles@lemmy.world avatar

I mean I guess you could time it once like that, but if that’s your plan, you could have just sold it all a year before you planned on tanking the stock when you set up the schedule and make more money. Or just not tank the stock.

charles,
@charles@lemmy.world avatar

I just blocked the user 🤷

Very cool that you can link settings to an app, though.

The problem with this is the smaller communities are completely drowned out by larger ones with top/x. Same with hot, to be honest. The algorithm needs to be updated to float smaller communities posts to the top proportionally somehow.

A) poverty

B) you need to qualify for a mortgage, even with first time homebuyer programs

C) you severely underestimate what the mortgage is

D) people aren’t always expecting to live in the same area for more than 5-7 years, at which point you’ve spent tons of money on closing and PMI that you absolutely aren’t coming out ahead on

Tax the shit out of residential real estate investments for corporations and anything beyond the first 3 dwellings owned by individuals. Carve out exceptions for apartment complexes.

I hate to admit it, but the only thing I’ve been to reddit for is loading the dadjokes subreddit daily, because there’s not enough engagement on the lemmy one to get a good joke for my daily standup meeting.

Other than that, been off it from browsing entirely
