bdonvr,

TL;DR - Not all Nazis

In any case they weren’t formally accused of war crimes, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t committing atrocities in Poland

bdonvr,

Directly linking the file of an XKCD should be illegal

xkcd.com/297/

bdonvr,

I don’t mean the act of embedding or direct linking in general, but in link aggregators these comics are well known for their alt text, which cannot be seen from the direct link.

I think a good practice might be embedding the comic directly in your comment along with a “source” link.

bdonvr,

A can of compressed air and it’ll BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

bdonvr,

Oh and there’s a slave trade going on in Libya.

bdonvr,

I do 6pm-6am 5 days a week

Which was an improvement from my previous position of starting at 12am-4amish going to 9am-2pmish 6 days a week.

bdonvr,

It went over my head how political that song is

bdonvr,

The other Dems will wring their hands and maybe scold them.

bdonvr,

You answer your phone when work calls? /s

bdonvr,

Probably a response to Apple’s “Continuity Camera”, which is pretty slick and seamless

Organic Maps: An Open-Source Maps App That Doesn't Suck (hardfault.life)

My impression of Organic Maps immediately improved when I started driving. It talks! It knows exit numbers! It can tell you which lanes to use! Sure, it isn’t as polished as Google Maps, but all of the functionality is present. The UI is high-contrast and easy to read, although I wish the text showing exit numbers/street names...

bdonvr,

Yes I’ve had great experience with this one. Good CarPlay support too!

bdonvr,

Now that I work 12 hour shifts 5 days a week… I only cook on the weekends. I try to make a bigger meal that saves well though. Chili, etc. after that’s gone just easier things like sandwiches until the next weekend.

bdonvr,

Thankfully in the latest iOS update that just came out you get a transcript of audio messages

bdonvr,

How tf do frozen waffles get moldy?

bdonvr,

Weed is still illegal everywhere in the US. A few states though have said they would stop enforcing it and so far the federal government had turned a blind eye to it.

Which is why in “legal” states, weed dispensaries often have major trouble with finding banks and card processors that are willing to work with them.

I think in “legal” states though some people who were in with state charges got released? Maybe?

bdonvr,

It should be a crime to directly link XKCDs images without the corresponding page.

A New Low: Just 46% Of U.S. Households Subscribe To Traditional Cable TV (www.techdirt.com)

The “cord cutting” trend cable execs spent a decade claiming was a fad just broke another round of new records. According to Leichtman Research, major cable TV providers lost another 1.7 million subscribers last quarter, as users flock to streaming, over the air TV, TikTok, or, you know, books. Roughly 17,700 customers cut...

bdonvr,

I bet it also fluctuates pretty widely with football season. I only pay for streaming TV for football season and I know many others do too.

There is otherwise absolutely no benefit.

bdonvr,

The ruling class is, but this character in the comic probably just believes that the propaganda he was fed as a child is the truth, and any revision to that is politically motivated.

bdonvr,

Wow you must be fluent in your target language now huh?

bdonvr,

Very cool. Very very cool.

bdonvr,

Communists built the platform, and far left spaces fled here years before the rest of us, after Reddit banned some leftist subs.

bdonvr,

The Hawaii comparison make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

bdonvr,

I feel like this attitude and generalized hatred towards every person working as police will make it worse because no one will want to do that job anymore.

bdonvr,

Me returning the cart makes a person’s job easier.

Stealing doesn’t affect the workers.

bdonvr,

AirPods is

bdonvr, (edited )

Did they? I didn’t see any bloatware and carrier installed applications announced though? Did they make the new CPU slower or commit to giving updates for fewer years?

bdonvr,

House of Cards went on far, far too long. Should’ve ended at or shortly after he became President.

bdonvr,

I started my own instance and haven’t touched Reddit since, except sometimes as search results. But I don’t browse, login, etc.

bdonvr,

I gotta wonder though, water used for server cooling is basically just run through metal fixtures and returned right? Couldn’t it be possible to force some kind of maintenance and cleanliness standards onto the equipment and just have the water return to the supply? Is there any reason that water wouldn’t be just as drinkable after?

bdonvr,

Download Grindr right now I guarantee you you can find someone who will let you put it in their ass

bdonvr,

“Fruits of their labor”

Well, fruits of exploitation of the global south that made your labor worth so much more than theirs.

bdonvr,

Voting is not capable of fixing our system.

bdonvr,

That would certainly be better, though very far from perfect. But I doubt they’d allow such a thing to happen anyway.

bdonvr,

Malicious/Ignorant -> Malignant

bdonvr,

I used to have a magsafe charger stuck to the wall and would just stick my phone to it

bdonvr,

The almighty algorithm forces it. I don’t care as long as it’s not outright misleading

Zelensky dismisses compromise with Putin, pointing to Prigozhin’s death (www.cnn.com)

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has said the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin – the Russian mercenary leader whose plane crashed weeks after he led a mutiny against Moscow’s military leadership – shows what happens when people make deals with Russian leader Vladimir Putin....

bdonvr, (edited )

So it doesn’t end?

Edit: barring NATO rolling in and starting WW3 that’s clearly not gonna happen. So what’s next?

bdonvr,

I suppose your definition of being “pro-peace” involves sending billions in weapons?

bdonvr,

Clearly Russia isn’t going to do that, no matter how much a bunch of nobodies argue for it online.

Which actually realistic path leads to less dead people?

bdonvr,

By every account Russia has the manpower to outlast Ukraine in this. I’m sure whoever is left in Ukraine once NATO is done teaching Russia this “lesson” will be so glad to have been a part of this.

bdonvr,

You can’t just boil geopolitics down like that.

The longer this goes the more people die. We can’t seem to stop Russia without plunging the world into more war…

bdonvr,

I was bi-curious once. Now I’m bi-enthusiastic

bdonvr,

Make sure your practice is grounded in theory, otherwise it’s just adventurism.

Adventurism is how you get STDs

bdonvr,

Seems like a great reason for them not to fix it

bdonvr,

For a TV console? For better download speeds and more consistent connection for online gaming

WiFi works okay but it can’t have cost that much to put an Ethernet port into the switch dock

bdonvr,

Discs suck, other than for used game sales and collecting.

But used games sales is a huge plus. But realistically I think we’ll see maybe one more console generation with physical media.

bdonvr,

At one point when I was 18 I almost started down that path. Thank god I didn’t.
