XaeroDegreaz,

Stardate 49678.4. We will never forget.

XaeroDegreaz,

Unlimited Data on the Cellular Peptide network.

XaeroDegreaz,

Or strange, non-standard settings / configuration. It’s weird. Sometimes it’s fine, other times it’s like they have some preconfigured package that works with snap.

XaeroDegreaz,

We call this “hobo bread” lol. Good stuff

XaeroDegreaz,

This version of the song sucks. The one from Milenko was much better

XaeroDegreaz,

Single square of toilet paper man

XaeroDegreaz,

This reminds me of that Seinfeld episode about car reservations.

XaeroDegreaz,

Keep an eye on Cosmic Frontier: Override. It’s a new game that’s been in development from the team that brought us the Escape Velocity series :)

XaeroDegreaz,

Yeah but it’s a fairly huge area… something like 8km in any direction from the ship.

TIL researchers recorded the brain waves of a dying person, they showed patterns similar to those occurring during memory recall. (blog.frontiersin.org)

Neuroscientists have recorded the activity of a dying human brain and discovered rhythmic brain wave patterns around the time of death that are similar to those occurring during dreaming, memory recall, and meditation. Now, a study published to Frontiers brings new insight into a possible organizational role of the brain during...

XaeroDegreaz,

Doubtful. People have been dying for a long time. Non-dying people have always wanted to know what dying is like, so I’m sure there have been countless attempts at gathering measurable data of those in their last moments of life.

XaeroDegreaz,

Go dig up some worms, throw em in a bowl, grab a weird looking fork, and let us know.

XaeroDegreaz,

I think it has something to do with a built-in defense mechanism. When you feel dizzy like that, one of your body’s reactions is “oh snap, I think I ate something bad. Get rid of it”.

XaeroDegreaz,

Did they show you something?

XaeroDegreaz,

Same. Users who click on links get signed up for remedial training courses lol

XaeroDegreaz,

I’m curious… How does one even test such a thing before distributing it without having offending files to test against.

Like during the development process of this project, how on earth can you test it properly? 😂

XaeroDegreaz,

Sometimes Microsoft is such a turd… I’ve seen this thing posted several times, however I didn’t see the fix in this thread, so I’ll post it here. Sorry, I couldn’t find the Lemmy post that had the information on how to remove it, but I found one on Reddit:

www.reddit.com/r/computerviruses/…/jp896s0

It’s basically a combination registry changes, and also directory modifications to prevent writing to the directory where BGAUpsell.exe resides.

It’s pretty shitty we have to do this. Please, hold all your “switch to Linux” comments, because they are stupid, and superfluous; I see that dumb shit all the time since I came to Lemmy.

XaeroDegreaz,

Yeah well said.

I see it here on Lemmy all the time, and you can just see it in this whole comment thread too.

I’ve been a software engineer for decades. I know my way around Windows, OSX, and Linux systems. I’m not a casual computer user. I AM a gamer though, and jumping through hoops to play games on Linux is not worth my time. Unless there is a native Linux distribution of the game, you’re jumping through hoops trying to get it to run through Proton, or whatever other means. Driver support is another thing… Yeah it’s gotten better, but sometimes it just like forcing a square peg through a circle hole.

No thanks, I’m very happy with my native gaming experience.

And sure, for dev systems, or servers, Linux is great. All of my professional work is interacting with Linux based systems, containers, etc. I also work on a MacBook Pro, so I understand the tooling for Unix systems is great for that work.

My personal life though, I’m not fighting Linux just to game.

BTW Starfield is great… Check it out lol. I just did a quick search for “Starfield on Linux”. First results are something like “Runs on Proton after some tweaks”. I’m good.

XaeroDegreaz,

I dunno, McDonald’s Schezwan sauce might be murder worthy

XaeroDegreaz,

Nah, the Mulan pictures added extra flavour

XaeroDegreaz,

Remember heat.net?

XaeroDegreaz,

Nice, I didn’t have tags, but I got the shirt. I really only played Quake 2 and Unreal Tournament

XaeroDegreaz,

Something you may be interested in is the “Artist Radio” feature. You start out by searching artists/song you know (like you said you already did) and then it will search out other artists that you may enjoy.

I’ve been introduced to a ton of great artists from all over the world this way. It’s one of the coolest features of the platform

XaeroDegreaz,

What a dumbass lol. If you’re going to do something like this, at least don’t make it trivial to figure out who you are…

XaeroDegreaz,

Lol I wouldn’t want to go up against Baldur’s Gate 3, either. They need to take this time to tighten things up, and let things cool down for a while. They’re competing for the same fans, so it would be a death sentence to release in the near future.

XaeroDegreaz,

You have missed out on these informative, tastefully coloured, and sequential virtual markings. It is recommended that you peruse the back-catalog in an effort to experience further pleasure.

XaeroDegreaz,

Paul Stamets was the engineer on Discovery… That dude was pivotal to the story in a lot of ways. Not sure how you missed him 😲

XaeroDegreaz,

Yeah man, you just can’t argue with some people.

XaeroDegreaz,

I’m seeing people saying both I, and the official Star Trek bio that I linked are wrong. How about an image of his personnel file?

https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/3ef4475a-ae79-4833-8168-06cf2f4f2f14.jpeg

Some people just like to argue for no reason at all.

A: Humans mimic others speech (unconsciously) in order to fit in. EG: person from country A moves to country B. Both countries speak English. A few years later A moves home. People in country A now hear a country B accent when this person talks.

Yep. As an American who’s lived in Korea for about 10 years, I catch myself doing this all the time when speaking English to Koreans who understand some English. I also find myself doing the same thing to other Americans, and even my family.

I’ve also been told that I speak Korean with a female accent. I’m pretty sure it’s because the majority of my Korean language exposure is from my wife of 18 years, and her friends. I’ve only really started making male friends of my own in the past three years or so.

Strange how all of that works.

XaeroDegreaz,

I’m not sure about other languages in general, but in Korean females tend to use different intonations, pronounce vowels a little differently, and use different verb endings as a means of sounding more cute.

If you’re not familiar with Korean, then perhaps you’ve heard Japanese males speak before. They’re more harsh, sometimes gutteral, whereas females are more gentle when they speak.

I think I picked up the gentleness speech patterns, and I often catch people off guard. Firstly there’s a foreigner speaking Korean, but he also sounds like a hot chick 😂

XaeroDegreaz,

Q2 and Unreal tournament ruled my gaming life too. I started playing back in the “Heat.net” / MPlayer era. I miss those services so much

XaeroDegreaz,

Check out the DeArrow on desktop. Gets rid of a lot of that clickbait stuff.

XaeroDegreaz,

GOG Galaxy is also a really good game manager. I was pleasantly surprised by its newer release. Scans games from all of your popular platforms (Steam, Epic, etc) as well as custom library folders.

XaeroDegreaz,

Some people just love the brand. Say what you will about Apple as a company, but all of their products, and software suites work well together.

Some people also jumped on Apple in the early iPod days and just never left the ecosystem. They have years and years worth of experience in that ecosystem, and for them it may be too much to transition to something else, say Google.

It’s the same, but in reverse, for Android users.

There’s also the “indoctrination factor”; family members passing down either platform to new generations, or kids in school having peers from a different ecosystem.

What are some equivalent communities to reddit's popular communities on Lemmy?

Was just banned from Reddit because I dared to use Tor (which I am using rn) and comment something. Since my account was new the mod banned me, I have 1k other reddit accounts, so not knowing I was banned, I posted in the same community with other accounts, thus three accounts are permanently banned....

XaeroDegreaz,

This would be great if we had some way to easily export those results into our subscriptions on our instance instead of going through one by one and joining.

XaeroDegreaz,

TBF it’s bad for humans too, but them boys smack!

XaeroDegreaz,

Why aren’t these things behind Cloudflare? Boggles the mind.
