Yeah, IDK. As a huge Trekkie, I’ve been nothing but pleased that Trek forced its way into the mainstream without changing its progressive this-is-for-everyone values.
nuTrek (the Abrams movies) and Picard S1 were way more action than I was expecting and it made me like them a lot less than other properties. However, the vast majority of Trek is not action-oriented at all and is more about traditional science-fiction stories — providing an abstraction of real-world issues and approaching them through a philosophical lens with spaceships, alien races, and esoteric concepts as allegory.
I always thought that uniform jumper over the point collar and tie look was slick af and a really smart way for ENT to show the growth and transition of Starfleet from a near-military Earth-only organization to what we see in TOS and TNG.
S1 TNG is fucking bonkers. I know a lot of the plots are straight retellings of TOS stuff, but a bunch of the rest feel even wackier than TOS on it’s most TAS day.
I totally get it, there are some episodes and TOS movies like that for me. Hell, for a long time I thought I was the only person on Earth who liked ENT.
It really doesn’t. It feels incredibly dated. A lot of that is because games since then have iterated on systems, concepts, and philosophies which were introduced or revolutionized by HL; but, there’s a lot that just isn’t done anymore because games now do different things (because they are better) or similar things quite differently (because that’s better).
Lower Decks is the best Trek since Ent went off the air, IMO. I didn’t care for Disco, largely. Picard was more action than I was in for at first. I’m really enjoying SNW, though.
Dude, she’s amazing. I will watch or listen to anything she’s so much as attached to. Her podcast is insightful and funny. One Mississippi was hilarious and dark. Her episode of Birbiglia’s podcast is one of my favorite podcast episodes ever. She made Army of the Dead for me. Just an absolute sardonic delight.
The chip in the Series 6 is essentially identical to the one in the Series 9 and all in between. Your explanation works for a lot of cases, but not this one.
We stopped all the subscriptions in the spring. I pay for Usenet access, but it’s less than Netflix alone used to be. It’s automated and I don’t have to worry if my services have what I want to watch.

I’ve used Mint for many years. It has never worked well, its budgeting tools are inaccurate, and the UI is garbage. I guess you can say I’m not too broken up about this. I do very well with an Apple Numbers spreadsheet every month. That said, if there are other better options out there, I would consider them.
