I don’t know if I’ve seen more toxicity per se, but I definitely have seen more negativity recently. I remember when I first got here during the reddit protest stuff, everyone was so nice and it felt very refreshing compared to reddit. Now I don’t get that feeling. There are still plenty of nice people, but there’s just a lot of bitterness regarding the state of the internet right now.
Seeing the other post here about YouTuber that went downhill and seeing content creators I am familiar with makes me sad. But how about those that still makes great, high quality content?
Any maps app that, when you set a route, lets you decide “don’t give me any directions until I get to X step” and/or “don’t give any directions after X step”. I dont like hearing the navigation when I don’t need it, and that would save me from having to open or close the navigation while I’m still driving.
I disable notifications for everything I can, but some need to stay enabled. My line of work means I need to leave email notifications on, for example. Texts and other messaging apps are on too, because otherwise I’ll go days without talking to people. My blue light filter app also has a spot of the notification bar, so that I can always turn it off and on when I want to.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - JCPS has canceled 47 bus routes for Monday, Nov. 6 after 85 bus drivers called out as of Sunday night, according to officials.
There was a big issue at the beginning of the school year in August, where a bunch of kids didn’t make it home until like 8 or 9pm. They had to delay the start of school because there weren’t enough drivers. I’m assuming conditions haven’t gotten much better since then.

Ooh, thats sounds right up my alley. Used to love civilization and stellaris and those types of games, but war was always my least favorite part of the gameplay. It gets in the way of my perfect empire.
Yeah my only interaction with reddit now is if I want to read honest discussion of some specific thing without worrying too much if it’s astroturfed, I can go to google and search like “wireless earbuds for sleeping reddit”. With this change I wouldn’t even have that option available, which I consider to be the last thing reddit’s good for.
Having recently read Rise & Fall, yeah. The party started out as a small nationalist club with socialist tendencies to attract the impoverished WW1 soldiers. But Hitler only cared about the nationalist part, and once they had any sort of public presence, Hitler squashed any attempts at doing anything socialist. For example at one point when they were a minority party, there was a vote to take land from the wealthy Junkers, which some members of the party wanted to vote for, because it wouls be popular with their voters. But Hitler refused, because he wanted the Junker’s support and money.
Very excited for adventure mode. The colony builder was overwhelming to me, but I want to support the game, so I feel like a single-character adventure would be perfect
Complicated is fine, it was the whole “things are happening on several different floors in your base and everything is happening in real time, so you have to constantly pause to handle everything”
I too would wish he’d expand the court as he suggested he would on the campaign trail, but unfortunately the game of politics is such that actually doing it would become the biggest topic ever, and not in a good way. It would be super unpopular with the moderates, and it would allow republicans the perfect opportunity to accuse Biden of being anti-democracy, which of course they would love an excuse to do because it would distract from the fact that they actually want to destroy democracy. Maybe, and this is a big maybe, he’ll consider it in a second term when he no longer has to worry about re-election, but that hope always seems to be a pipe dream.
Some friends wanted to start a campaign and I’m trying to digitize my character sheet. Initially I was going to use d&dbeyond so I could send my DM the character sheet digitally and make it easier for them, but I can’t pick Drow without paying for the character, for whatever silly reason. I’ve been checking out all the...
+1 for this. Keeps all of my characters nice and tidy. Whenever you level up, you pick your new abilities from a list of options, and then it’ll autofill that into your character sheet. It won’t autofill your spells, though, so I use a different app for that. The only downside is that some of the abilities for certain classes aren’t named correctly, I assume due to copyright issues. But the names are pretty clear what they’re referencing (example: Agonizing Blast = Potent Cantrip).
Today i learned that, despite being a cis man who is exclusively attracted to women, this city council considers me to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community
I don’t know why they’re so popular. They suck (pun intended). I’ve been given plenty and they ranged from outright terrifying (too much teeth!) to just kinda meh. I’d rather get a handy than a BJ.
If the darker blue is total aid, why is it smaller than the “refugee costs only” bar? Or is the whole bar “total costs” and the darker blue bar is all aid aside from refugee costs?

How exact are we getting? I’m an “assistant term professor”, but I’m not an associate or tenure-track position, nor am I an adjunct. So i imagine if just people in my middling position disappeared, we might be fine, a bunch of adjuncts get a raise and a stable job, universities might have to reduce admissions or pack their classes, but we’d probably be fine in the long run. If all college professors disappeared, though, society might collapse. Suddenly you have millions of college students with incomplete educations who need to go somewhere. The brain drain on the world would be immense, and with the death of university-led research, we’d probably enter a dystopian future where all new research is being done by corporations.
I did! But as for estimates of people, you could probably compare total daily users in like, March to total daily users today, and that eould get you most of the way there
No, but I assume you’d have to build extra infrastructure for that, which is expensive. They might now consider it worth it if they continue to need that much water, though.
Colin Mochrie’s “Maltese Burger” bit from Whose Line Is It Anyway is always what I think of first when I hear about this movie, which of course is what he based it on.

Recently I’ve been playing a massive minecraft map called Drehmal, which got a big update a few weeks ago. It’s kinda like if someone made an elder scrolls game in minecraft, with lots of exploring, loot and lore to find. Unfortunately I think something about the map, either the mods needed to play it or the size, doesn’t agree with my computer and I will get a crash after a few hours of play. So maybe I should find something else.

I agree, it has been shown that decoupling people from their source of propaganda can deradicalize (some of) them. So yes they’ll be angry for a while, but it’ll be good in the long run.
ADHD really hinders my enjoyment of the game. Real DND is my favorite thing in the world, but it takes so long to do things in BG3, and I get distracted and can’t hold myself to playing for a very long time, and it just makes me wish I were actually playing the real game instead of through a computer.
Do you like audioboks or podcasts? Listening to something while running really helped me to find more interest in running/walking more. You do need a good pair of headphones so that they don’t fall out of your ears, though.
