TBi,

Agree totally. One of my neighbours said it put the fear of god in them so I had high hopes. I was bored to tears during it.

Honestly the Simpsons rip off was more entertaining.

TBi,

I watched and enjoyed the star wars movies but I never thought of them as great.

€45,000 for a heat pump retrofit in Germany -- really? (www.bbc.co.uk)

Germany is struggling to get people on-board with a green energy movement that involves banning high footprint domestic heating systems (e.g. gas boilers)-- thus forcing people to migrate to heat pumps. A low-income family who was interviewed said it would cost €45k to install a heat pump in their terraced home in Bremen....

TBi,

I agree with you. But there are breathable insulation types for these older houses. So they can be used. These are more expensive so should have higher tax breaks when applied to houses that need them.

Also I agree with the wearing extra clothing part. One extra jumper never hurt anyone.

TBi,

Good read and good points. Thanks for sharing/ranting!

TBi,

First there was the spam bot then the scam bot and next up the slam bot!

TBi,

Also good is to always put something back where it should be. Like my work badge is always in the front pinch of my laptop bag and the first thing I do when I finish work is put it back into that pouch.

TBi,

I always had an in between pile for the same reason. Clothes that weren’t freshly washed but weren’t dirty enough to wash. I like your idea of hooks. I might try it out.

TBi,

Yeah the hardest part is making a habit. I’ve started to do a quick vacuum on the stairs once a day (cordless vacuum FTW) and it makes a big difference.

TBi,

Yep. You can vote for the bad party or you can vote for the party that wants you dead. At least if you keep voting for the bad party the other side will get less bad to get more votes. Then you vote for the less bad party and so on until they actually start being good.

It’s so easy, but general population for some reason don’t think that way.

TBi,

Yeah it’s amazing some tunes with the best music have the worst or inappropriate lyrics. One of my favorite songs is “she don’t have to know” by John Legend. Bad to listen too constantly when in a relationship.

TBi,

I like the intentional misspelling. Very accurate. Here they would say “just 10 yo yo’s a month”. I’m not sure they know what a data plan is…

TBi,

Exynos also had better audio. My biggest issue is that Samsung had too much sibilance I.e. harsh S sounds. iPhone is more neutral.

TBi,

I really am interested to see it go up against the new snapdragon elite chip. Hopefully some competition at last!

TBi,

I wonder if Hamas would exist if Israel treated the Palestinians well, giving them aid, food, water and the promise of a brighter future… including sovereignty of their borders.

TBi,

Oh please do! Great way to kill your site faster

TBi,

I like that they try to scare you that the streaming websites will steal your info when the “legit” companies already do that…

TBi,

CasaOS looks interesting. But i prefer OpenMediaVault for the moment.

TBi,

I think what they are trying to say is that harsh reactions are becoming less common. Which is good for everyone. Although it can still affect people a lot, like it affected your wife.

Although it could be propaganda, at this moment I hope it’s the former.

TBi,

Yep. More than fast enough for libreoffice and normal office tasks.

Lemmy probably feels like Reddit when it first started, all warm cuddly and friendly to newcomers eager to discuss and collaborate around central topics.

I joined reddit on the tailwind, so it was all echo chamber, we hate newcomers, gatekeeping, automod frenzy, too many rulebreakers, too many rules, etc I could be wrong, but thats what I imagine it used to be like.

TBi,

I’m not sure, i made a comment on the controversy over linus tech tips, basically there may have been miscommunication and we should wait and see before demonising anyone. But people took what i said the wrong way and downvoted me to eternity. It was quite depressing. I didn’t say anyone was wrong or anyone was right. Just stated i’d been in a position before where people misunderstood my intentions so i understand how easily it can happen.

TBi,

Getting back into PC gaming after buying my friends old 300 euro gaming PC. I’m looking to upgrade and every little bit faster is only a little bit extra, so a 100 euro upgrade turned to a 120 euro upgrade, then a 150 euro upgrade to… i don’t want to say how much i spent…

TBi,

No, I ended up updating the whole system.

TBi,

I like OpenMediaVault (based on Debian) with a few docker images… really helps :)

Tesla exaggerated EV range so much that drivers thought cars were broken (arstechnica.com)

Tesla has consistently exaggerated the driving range of its electric vehicles, reportedly leading car owners to think something was broken when actual driving range was much lower than advertised. When these owners scheduled service appointments to fix the problem, Tesla canceled the appointments because there was no way to...

TBi,

Every road test I’ve seen has shown Tesla cars being more efficient and getting more range than other manufacturers. But I do question the results. I have a BMW i3. I always get about 2/3 of the official range. Always been happy with that. But people complain about the range while having the temperature at max in winter (with t shirt on) and then AC set to freezing in the summer (wearing a jumper). They just drain the battery.

TBi,

I run OMV baremetal for last few years. I really like it. I did try TrueNAS and found it too convoluted.

Nextcloud is a totally different beast that would run on top of either.

OMV allows you to use ZFS as well if you want (I do) but also the flexibility to use other raid systems.

I just wish they’d left in portainer as default. No point reinventing the docker wheel…

TBi,

Things are easy or free. Rarely both. :) it’s well worth learning OMV. If you have any questions I’ll try to help!

Who still has a rift in their family due to differing opinions over Covid?

My parents have always been left-wing hippies and entertained the odd conspiracy theory, but during the pandemic they got lost down YouTube rabbit holes and bought into Q-Anon and anti-vax ideas. They still don’t believe Covid is real (even though they blatantly had it…)....

TBi,

Not family, probably because my father passed away just before the pandemic. But it has changed friendships forever. I was surprised by the lack of empathy from people. Like the mild inconvenience of wearing a mask was worse than people dying…
