TOKYO, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Japan on Sunday marked the 78th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing on Hiroshima, where its mayor urged the abolition of nuclear weapons and called the Group of Seven leaders' notion of nuclear deterrence a "folly".
The only way we will ever remove nuclear weapons will be when we remove the threat from invasive and terrorist actions of other countries. We need an international force that is set up just to protect the status quo of borders around the world. With that we also need an answer to terrorism from foreign states. As soon as you make it impossible for an invasion to take place then you can guarantee that some states will head straight to terrorist acts for intimidation. Until all countries sign up to this, we must keep the deterrent.
Imagine how could be saved if we removed the need to spend on defence. Currently we spend $2.2t across the world on killing each other. It is a shocking waste.
Pretty stupid generalisation. Terrorism comes from many areas including governments. Putin’s attack on citizens in the UK was state terrorism against his own people.
I don’t know. I am confident that money will find a way. Look at the cost of the Ukraine war on China as well as Russia. It is in no one’s financial interests to commit to a war these days. Putin is indicative of the world’s weak spot. When individuals use their state for personal gain, everyone looses. If the world used a combined effort to prevent invasions by forcefully pushing invaders back into their countries, then even these types of actors can be neutered.
Except the west does not try to take over that country and hold onto it as a colony. They have grew out of that era. Every country that has been invaded, has been in response to another action, and in every occasion they have handed the country back to the people it belongs to. How they have handed it back leaves a lot to criticise. But you cannot say it was done with malice. Russia is guilty of extending its borders into other countries for no other reason than conquest.

How big do they think the AI market is going to be? It is not going to compete with the consumer demand for very long. Chips last for years, so once AI chip is purchased it will be in use until the next generation GPU arrives. So yes the initial purchase may be predominantly expensive AI chips that will make AMD and Nvidia a boatload of cash. But that is a finite market, and TSMC make a lot of chips. Chips for industry have always be at the forefront of the cash cow that is GPU and CPU sales. Intel is also making an entrance for the low end.
I think I will be waiting a while. I have little interest in being gouged for no other reason than greed.
Israeli connections with the US is the main reasoning behind the lack of outcry imo.
Israel has also taken a turn very much for the worse. The mistreatment we have witnessed previously is nothing compared to what could be coming. This is so severe even parts of the Israeli army have gone on strike. Israeli is being usurped by theocracy which sees arabs as non human. They wish to remove all rights and privileges from arabs all together. The only difference between this and Isis is the book being used to govern the rules.
There is a war, so all propaganda has to be taken with a pinch of salt. Denys Davydov also from Crimea has a very different opinion about the Russia invasion there. Dr Eleanor Knott is the only source I can find that shows possible unbiased results. The data for this paper was collected before the annexation took place. It favours the opinion that Crimea was not pro-Russia in bias.
I have to ask why she is in the US if she got what she wanted?
Where does her pro-Russian stance stem from? (political alliances, ethnicity or economic seem to be the main proponents).
You say “she was happy” does this mean she has had a change of heart.
Sorry I had a genuine interest in your response. I was not trying to be provocative. I worked with a lad from Ukraine. He was someone with a real genuine nature. The kind of person you could never see anyone saying a bad word against. So far all I have no family in the warzone, I do feel for the people living there. I am not anti-Russian, but I am very much against the regime in power there.
What the paper did say was that there were people in Crimea who had Russian bias. It would be naïve to think there were no people who were pro-Russian. I would have been very interested to hear if her view had changed especially being within the western media viewing range. That is to say a view on how propaganda has had an affect on her opinion. I think it is fair to say the referendum Putin held was not a fair one.
What I find sad is that Crimea will never be the same again. It is a lost culture. Putin will have removed anyone who is pro-Ukraine from the area, so any future votes will never show how it should actually be. That is regardless of the voting process and checks around it. Ukraine will undoubtedly evict any people who have shown bias with the current occupation. Crimea will end up in the hands of whoever wins the peace.
I have seen footage of people from the Donbass region that has since been repatriated to Ukraine. They were not very happy with the lack of support Russia gave them. They were literally caught in no man’s land for years on end. You could not state if they were still pro-Russian or pro-Ukraine because of the regime change. Their composure definitely looked beaten and just wanted the situation to be over. I personally don’t think they cared who had control.

Sorry to disillusion you but this was well known in the 70’s. It was a standing joke. People knew they just never confronted the issue because ethical standards were pretty low back then.
I love how they are flaunting this as a method to reduce queues. The EU has postponed this for over a year now because of the impact to flow rate. All truck drivers will have to disembark to verify who they are. Buses crossing by ferry will now have everyone pass through a biometric check machine. This will be yet more delay to travelling to the EU. Something those in the EU do not have to deal with.
