We need more information. Structural issues can be small or very big. Remember, the person doing an inspection has to over report everything possible because if they don’t , and something major happens after the sale, they can be sued. For me, I would take a look at how serious the issues are and decide if working on them is worth the time/effort/investment. I wouldn’t buy a car that had the front end crushed in an accident because, even after the repair, the final product is not something I would want to drive or have to deal with.
Does anyone have a list of long-term effects that may arise from periods of severe dehydration in childhood, particularly how this might affect overall health in adulthood?
Well, the context matters greatly here. If dehydration is severe enough to lower blood pressure (a.k.a. hypovolemic shock) it can cause long term brain, liver, kidney, and heart damage. That is assuming you survived. It could also cause local ischemia ( loss of blood flow) requiring limb amputation.
If it is not bad enough to cause shock, the most probable long term sequelae would be kidney damage. Dehydration can precipitate ATN (acute tubular necrosis). In a kid this may appear to be transient. It would kill a certain percentage of your available nephrons. As a kid, you only need ~20% of your nephrons to assume full kidney function. This would mean that you would appear to recover but would likely go into kidney failure at an early age.
There are also psychological effects depending on severity and duration.
Well, my friend, he’s kinda poor he can’t afford some books and some streaming services, so he pirates. He pirate books, audiobook and videos and other stuff. Sometimes he buys books he likes a lot out of loyalty to the author (yeah, I don’t understand it either), he likes to read physical books, but yeah, if he hates the...
Every company that owns media or copy protected information has one goal. To bleed consumers dry of as much money as possible. They lobby governments against our interests, track our data, and destroy the integrity of the product that they are selling to accomplish this.
For everything that I am interested in, I seek the best experience. I want the media I consume to be available, convenient, and unaltered. If I can pay a reasonable fee for that then I will. If not then I will seek other means. I am tired of corporations fighting to change culture and expectations to be “more profitable” rather than delivering a product that consumers actually want. I will continue to vote with my dollars (or lack there of) until this practice changes (which will likely be never).
Relatively new to this but, I finally got my media server up and working! I want to improve the success of the search function though. Is there a way to know if content is on usenet but my indexer is not good enough? I would rather steer clear of torrenting for now. How do I go about finding good indexer?
Hi. Following on from my previous giveaway last month, I now have FOUR TorrentLeech invites that I’m just giving away. No bullshit, just say you want it and it might be yours....
One of my favorite Sci-fi series books is the Ender’s game saga. I think this might meet your specifications. Don’t watch the movie! The book, as is often the case, is way better.
I am new to Linux. I just got my hands on an old server machine with Internet to set up a media server and installed a fresh version of Ubuntu. Ultimately, I hope to use it as a headless unit but as I am a newbie, I put the GUI version on. I am having an issue getting it to display at all....
I didn’t install right away. Actually, my fist attempt to install Ubuntu failed because of the same issue. I had to retry with the graphics safe install and then it worked. When rebooting, I got to the prompt that said , “remove installation hardware and press enter to continue” I did this and the screen went blank.
I restarted with the “nomodeset” edit to the boot script and set up ssh access. That’s when I tried to update the drivers. After the update there was still no video output. I suspect it’s not a driver issue but I am new to Linux and do not know how to proceed with troubleshooting.
Honestly, I am done with this game. Played at launch and season 1 . Got both characters to lvl 80. The thought of doing this again feels like work. The main selling points of season 2 are, “we will make the game almost ready for release!” Yay, there will be less broken in a game I payed 70 dollars for 6 months after I bought it. . . woo.
If you smell your breath first thing in the morning it stinks. This is a sign of bacterial overgrowth. During the day, the biggest barrier to this is natural saliva production and agitation through movement of the mouth. These things are drastically reduced while you sleep and thus leads to a build up of bacteria. This is why it is advised that you brush your teeth after waking.
Technically, it is also advised that you brush your teeth after each meal but that is not practical for most.
I just recently started my journey setting up Plex with *Arr and have had a blast. I have the setup running on a raspberry Pi. Before I start buying a bunch of external hard drives, I went searching for some dedicated server hardware to comparison shop. Am I crazy to consider buying an old tower server for this, or will a...
I currently don’t require much transcoding but I imagine I will as time goes on. I would rather not have to police the filetypes for downloads as heavily. That being said, It will be an always on server so power is a consideration. I haven’t thought about how expensive it would be to run a tower server vs raspberry Pi.
I hadn’t considered adding serial Pi’s. That is an interesting idea. I am not sure how I would go about doing that but Ill do some research. Any good resources you would recommend?
I’m a Male who doesn’t have a thick beard or much facial hair. At best, I get a small stubble on my cheeks, where my moustache can grow a bit more. I can easily shave my cheeks without any cream or prep, moustache I’d generally have to soften up the hairs for a good shave....
I made the switch to a safety razor 3 years ago. The blades cost me 8 cents a piece and I replace them after ~ 4 shaves. I would probably do this sooner but I maintain a beard and only use it to clean up the neck. I would never go back. The disposable razors seem terrible and a waste of money now.
When I first started using Lemmy it seemed like such a nice place with interesting discussions. It seemed like the first group of people to join after the app exodus were being quite careful to be respectful of the existing culture....
I agree. Came from reddit in June. Lemmy has been a very friendly place. I just posted for advice with a typo in the title. Noone even mentioned it. No belittling advice or bickering. Just kindness and helpfulness.
About a week ago I setup Ubuntu as my primary OS on an old machine. It is my first time trying a unix based OS (previously windows). It has been ok, but it seems like every time I try to install something I run into problems. The app has the wrong permissions or I don’t have the right packages or I need to change port settings...
Last night I installed Sonarr through the built in snap store. It seemed to go well but when I tried to add a series it lacked the permissions to make the required directory. I am going to try to uninstall it and do it manually through the terminal as root unless someone can suggest a better way.
This is good advice. I did try to follow the “official” install for this one. When I Google “how to install” all the instructions are different and like 5 years old so they are outdated.
It starts just fine. When I try to add a series to it, it shoot up an error that it cannot create the required directory. Even if I sudo the directory in manually it cannot write the files. I assume that it doesn’t have write privileges but I lack the skills to find the appropriate service and change it’s privileges.
It is trying to create a new directory. I think it is under root but I am not sure. I will recreate the next time I am on it and post. Thanks for the help
In the US, there is controversy/disagreement about when “life begins” so this issue carries strong emotions for a lot of people.
The political side of it is different. The conservative party views benefits only a small number of people and nowhere near enough to get elected. They have a long history of championing social issues like this, ornamentally, to get people to vote against their interests.
I agree. Sometimes it is easier to vilify those with differing beliefs than to admit that another person may think so differently from ourselves. It is a very polarizing practice.
I just got my package of new earphones from Best Buy, and the box was fucking empty. I mean there is the box and instruction manuals and charging cable, but the actual earphones aren’t there. On my wedding night, one of my vendors decided to go on a shopping spree with my credit card. I guess he hoped that there would be so many charges that I wouldn’t notice. I didn’t remember shopping for car parts while I was saying “I do”. Credit card refunded the charges. I actually got them the address that the purchases were shipped to but they didn’t care.
1st time house buyer, potentially serious structural issues found... anyone have advice re negotiating price reduction / if I should pull out?
Hey all....
