I used it for a good few years when it first was a thing. It’s pretty decent when you are close to the server and have stable enough connection. I played quite a through few steam games this way through geforce now. Even cyberpunk 2077 was a great experience on it.

It’s a great stepping stone between getting new hardware but once I finally got my PC I just stopped using it.

Now gfn was the only good implementation cause it used your existing steam (and I hear now Xbox) library, instead of being locked to the app itself, so you could even see it as a extension to your setup

unabashed shills

Damn I’m a shill now :( sorry I enjoyed be able to game when I didn’t have good hardware.

Cloud gaming is not for everyone but just cause some people found use in it doesn’t make them a shill. Everyone I know from cloud gaming circles only used it till getting a decent PC or console

Bonus menu of artwork, music, and behind-the-scenes videos, showing never-before-seen concepts and unused art as well as the entire Cuphead soundtrack

all stuff that’ll be online within 24 hours, no new gameplay content

(the post was a copypasta used for something that isn’t NSFW but can be a little sus)

YouTube is axing its ad-free Premium Lite subscription plan - The Verge (www.theverge.com)

I was happily using this for a year or so now. Feels fairer than using an ad blocker. But now they apparently want more money out of people. Feels like some sort of internet video apocalypse is happening, where the services become extremely fragmented and expensive, like YouTube, netflix, hbo, Hulu, Disney+ and whatnot. Each...

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

This is true. Best use is still using something like soulseek for offline files but algorithm actually let’s you discover outside of the same couple dozen bands

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

I’d imagine most people using YouTube aren’t looking for TV/movie style content, rather the user created stuff. Or maybe TV shorter clips.

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

I hate how people are willing to pay for a mod that has drm and will crash games if the auth checks fail.

Not even a huge mod literally just fake frames

The article states it was bitchblack at 11pm with no street lights. The issue has been known since 2013 but Google hasn’t changed it despite requests.

It’s not entirely googles fault, the bridge owner as well but both are being sued per the article

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

I agreed that the bridge owners should be the most responsible. But this bridge has been down for a decade, and with many reports to Google to change the path. The neglect at that side is definitely part of the issue

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

It’s one thing if the map is outdated by a few months, but the bridge has been down for a decade and google has been ignoring reports to change the system

A print map should also have been able to adjust to this in a decades time

Not to say google is responsible I’ll just trying to see the family’s pov, you know the people who just lost a loved one partially due to this. Google told them to go over the bridge that fell. Sure its not the fault of Google that the bridge is down, but most people expect Google to be update to date, or at least change an issue that’s been for a decade

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

I get it’s informational. Its mentioned the bridge has been down for a decade and has been reported to Google multiple times. That at the very least should be something. You can argue this mans death isn’t because of maps directly but it’s hard to ignore the facts that this has been reported to Google multiple times.

It’s easier to sell honestly. It’s a concept most people understand at a base level at least so it’s marketable.

If it’s a work commute then it’s actually fairly on track. I commute 20 miles on train everyday one way, so 40 each day. That adds up quickly

need help moving away for school

Hello lemmy!! I want to degoogle but have a few issues. My main Google uses are drive and docs. Both of which are primarily for school reasons. I need access to easy cloud saved document editing for school. And drive for saving notes and PowerPoint etc. My school offers office 365 but I would rather not go from one shit stain to...

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

Shared doc are very rare, but I have used them.

My personal devices run Linux and windows, but I also use public computers running mac and windows. And in worse case scenario I note take on my phone as well

I might try this if no other options exist however.

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

I actually have that exact setup currently. My old Google emails are linked to a couple things so I only use those in my Foss apps to access them

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

Is there a good setup for public pcs? I often end up doing coursework at the library or on a work computer, which is the main reason I wanted cloud syncing.

I already use it for password manager so I would love to expand it if it’ll fit into my beeds

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

This might be what I need! Do you have some good setup docs? I don’t have any self hosting setup currently but I see you can host it on other sources

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

Thanks for the suggestion! Only have two more years left in my rad tech program. I’m down to use office, just wanted to see if some easier open source options exists.

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

Thanks

P.S. some of the equipment is still old 90s computers, the CT at the place im learning at is from a late 90s build running linux

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

its a damn shame. Instead taxpayers focus on banning queer kids from showing themselves. Meanwhile corpos are building entire profiles on your kids.

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

Its very easy to play the older AC games. Download a rom/iso and emulator

This is exactly why emulation is a needed thing.

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

Unless you are trying to the the ps3 game the ps2 and psp should be able to be emulated on literally any pc.

Hell psp runs fine on most android phones as well.

You literally have to be trying to not find a way to play these games if you say they aren’t easy to play. Fuck legality if the copyright hold is sitting on these games for no fucking reason

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

Thanks, I hate articles that spread misinformation

Sentinian,

If it’s at least as powerful as the steam deck, then this tracks tbh

PiBoy Mini: just add a Raspberry Pi and you've got a handheld retro gaming system (www.raspberrypi.com)

Retro gaming is a massively popular Raspberry Pi application, and while loading your favourite old video games onto an SD card is pretty straightforward, building the physical shell of a gaming system can be daunting for those of us without 3D printers or design skills of any kind. PiBoy Mini bridges that gap by providing...

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

Its a cute device, but 90 bucks without a pi or sd card?

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

If the release is on Deezer, you can use deemix and you can get a arl with some easy googling

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

Thanks for this. I’ve been planning to do a battery and nvme swap in my laptop so I’ll add this to the list when I do that

Sentinian,

I do have discord, but I tend to not socialize well on new servers

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

That’s not possible currently. The only IRL friend I’m out to that I still have lives in the middle of nowhere now

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

Never too late is one thing but I tend to struggle moreso with the existence of something I cannot reach

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

I’ve been into gaming since as long as I remember. My dad played halo and rdr1 when I was a baby. First game I played tho was Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga.

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

I’ve always read 3+ back to back as a form of satire or sarcasm

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

I dont see that in the article, does it say that elsewhere?

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

No? I’ve definitely played denuvo games on my steam deck completely offline. It’s like a once a month check or something.

And according to the website the drm is moreso hardware based, which is much more feasible on set hardware like the switch versus PC.

Fuck Denuvo and all but let’s keep speculation and facts clear

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

Also sorry about my tone, I realized afterwards it came off as kinda dickish.

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

I will say this post isn’t completely true. Denuvo (on pc) requires online checks but from what I’ve experienced it’s typically every 2-4 weeks. I’ve played persona 4 and 5 on my steam deck without internet just fine.

Edit: Of course this could change for switch. It would be backwards as fuck, but I suppose it is possible

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

As a rad tech, I work as little as 3 hours to as much as 8-9 on my 10 hour shifts

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

I’m one of the very few who dump my own roms and use as a sorta cross platform game save.

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

Let’s be real, the devs of switch emulators will get past whatever shit they put in. Denuvo isn’t gonna harm switch games nearly as bad as PC games

Edit: Worse case it just need a more unique console identification which might curve piracy but not stop legit emulation

Sentinian,
@Sentinian@lemmy.one avatar

We will need to see how it works, but the software checks in theory will be hardware based, so if the yuzu or ryujinx devs figure it out we should be good. Roms will still popup quick
