Je ne suis pas français donc tu dois considérer mes mots, mais je crois que au moins pour Polanski, la France a été à sa défense parce que on croyait que son procès aux États-Unis allait devenir un procès politique et injuste (même face à la terrible nature du crime de Polanski). Je ne sais pas pour les autres noms, mais je crois que la France ait décidé de devenir la patrie de la démocratie, comme tu dis, en établissant soi-même comme une autorité internationale où on essaye de protéger tout coupable d’un procès injuste. 🤷‍♂️

…Because I only just read the first chapter, and I know it’s gonna throw me for a loop, but come on. This whole sequence of events feels like a parody of Westerns– Specifically the “everyone in a bar gets into a fight” trope. I feel like it’s playing out like a Three Stooges sketch....

It’s violence escalating over time over and over again, but it seemed to me like McCarthy didn’t want to “condemn” the glorification of it. The book is based on an actual posse of scalphunters, and to me the tone of it all seems to be on par with his other books where the main message you have to get out of it is “the world is a flaming giant turd filled to the brim with violence and hatred and it’s painful to tell you the kind ones aren’t coming out on top”. I hope I made it clear enough.

it’s clunky as hell and the continuous break of the flow in the game shows its age but it’s a very fascinating game nonetheless

How hard is it to build an open source alternative to Duolinguo?

Speaking as a total ignorant from a coding perspective. But I guess that wouldn’t be the hard part, considering that most of Duolinguo is just boxes and text inputs. How difficult it is to create a database of competent linguists with an efficient training who can progressively enhance your understanding of languages?

My money’s on an Animal Crossing, possibly not immediately on release but close to it nonetheless. New Horizons had just too much success for the company not trying to ride the wave, and they have so much room to improve on the mechanics and the variety of the setting.

I tried playing the two original Baldur's Gate games on Ubuntu. It's hell.

Long story short: I am absolutely inexperienced with Linux distros but made the switch from Windows a bit more than a year ago. Right now, everyone’s talking about Baldur’s Gate 3, including a lot of the podcasts and shows I follow: since I never experienced the OG games, I wanted to try them out. I’m referring to the Enhanced versions, yes. I tried the Linux installer as well, and after correctly installing the game it just doesn’t start. I don’t know why it’s that.

Either I have too little control over how the app itself works (Nunti, You Reader) or the interface looks too messy.
