MonkderZweite,

And then install your main Apps from F-Droid (all Open Source and reviewed) and put eventual proprietary apps (get them from Aurora instead of Play) in a Shelter/Insular profile.

MonkderZweite,

F-Droid replaces some proprietary bits and adds warnings and all.

MonkderZweite,

Or creepy, because others see your timeline too.

MonkderZweite, (edited )

I mean, parking with a big car would be more of a nightmare than it is already in small-sized europe.

MonkderZweite,

and grow my own food.

Where does this romanticization come from anyway? It’s fucking hard work to have enough for the whole year.

MonkderZweite,

Lord of the flies (Baal-Zebub/Beelzebub) says hi.

Starfield design lead says players are "disconnected" from how games are actually made: "Don't fool yourself into thinking you know why it is the way it is" (www.gamesradar.com)

apparently this is in response to a few threads on Reddit flaming Starfield—in general, it’s been rather interesting to see Bethesda take what i can only describe as a “try to debate Starfield to popularity” approach with the game’s skeptics in the past month or two. not entirely sure it’s a winning strategy,...

MonkderZweite,

how games are actually made

Well, not like yours anymore.

MonkderZweite,

So shows get dumber with each generation?

Idea / Question about tiling window managers (discuss.tchncs.de)

First of all: Please don’t tell me how impractically this might be or confusing or whatever. This is like a thought experiment and let’s be honest: We don’t JUST want efficiency when modding our desktops – we also want it to look sick and individual and have people watch in admiration – or something like that. So keep...

MonkderZweite, (edited )

You mean, like you can zoom out and back in, move around in the larger desktop? For that part, there’s an xrandr hack with panning and scale.

edit: it’s literally –panning 4000x2000 and –scale for zooming. 0x0 and scale 1 to reset. Mouse on border moves the window. Make a script and bind that to keys and done.

MonkderZweite,

Isn’t that concept called a ‘scrolling wm’?

MonkderZweite,

Material Design was flat. Now it is lines?

MonkderZweite,

Convenient libraries/frameworks are fat. Because they are fat, they need frequent updates/security fixes, breaking codebase more often. With flatpack, developers can freeze lib versions at a convenient point, without caring for system dependencies.

MonkderZweite,

Get cold water. Add tea. Let it stay a few minutes.

MonkderZweite,

Materia theme or similiar fixes that.

MonkderZweite,

So are they “Neo-Nazi music” fans or Neo-Nazis who are music fans?

Why Even Your Local Grocery Store Wants Your Digital Data (www.youtube.com)

I honestly feel defeated right now, it feels like currently it’s impossible to truly stay private online unless one is willing to move to a cabin in the woods with no internet and you stop using tech all together and truly become a ghost and stay offline. Can someone help me feel like everything I am currently doing is...

MonkderZweite,

Just disable wifi and bt if you get out of the house.

MonkderZweite,

Thin line between giving useful error messages and more attack surface.

MonkderZweite,

Not code but internet. A often seen error is letting Appache/Nginx display their name & version in 403/404 pages. First step in planning an attack.

MonkderZweite,

Why would you say that if you think otherwise on the inside?

MonkderZweite,

And why does a desktop environment need to do that?

MonkderZweite, (edited )

Maybe the animation a bit simpler…?

Less animation is usually better UX in something often used, if it’s not to hide slowness of someting else.

MonkderZweite,

You say the animations are too much?

MonkderZweite,

And proprietary and an old piece of garbage.

MonkderZweite,

unused RAM is wasted RAM

In theory. But how it is implemented in current systems, reserved memory can not be used by other processes and those other processes can not just ask the hog to give some space. Eventually, the hog gets OOM-killed or the system freezes.

MonkderZweite,

Isn’t this the default behavior of all(?) modern *nix init? Maybe not SysV, i don’t know.

MonkderZweite,

They use Systemd, so there.

MonkderZweite,

Never had issues with Element, Fair Email, Silence notifying me? I run LineageOS without Play.

MonkderZweite,

Right, yes, they do ask to disable battery optimization.

MonkderZweite,

Well, god generally doesn’t give a shit at all if he exists, so there’s that.

MonkderZweite,

Not exclusive to religions.

“Is xy considered vegan?”

That pattern. Wanting to belong to something bigger i guess?

MonkderZweite,

The last two can be the same.

MonkderZweite,

Since companies usually have an autocratic structure, i guess they are.

Note: more efficient doesn’t mean better for the people or better at all. It just means that they skip a few important steps.

MonkderZweite,

Except the food has localized concentrations of oil, fat or water or differences on overall density.

MonkderZweite,

Thawing the pizza? of course that one edge has to be half done while we’re at it!

MonkderZweite,

Why would you do that? It sounds unpleasant.

MonkderZweite,

Deer god, it’s a phantomeme.

MonkderZweite,

Shouldn’t it store that stuff in data-home or state-home? Pikaur compiles in cache and stores it in data-home after.

MonkderZweite,

Extroverts are secretly depressive?
