For the last 6 months or so I’ve been working on Pinepods. I have never been able to find the perfect self-hosted podcast app that I wanted to use. podgrab’s player is rather lackluster and misses a lot of features that I would like....
My home lab has a mild amount of complexity and I’d like practice some good habits about documenting it. Stuff like, what each system does, the OS, any notable software installed and, most importantly, any documentation around configuration or troubleshooting....
The reason Proton is more expensive is because you get access to more of their other services too, like cloud storage, vpn, calendar and now password manager. It’s really worth it in my opinion, services are mature and stable. Although not sure what you’re referring to with “shady decisions in the past”?
But if all you need is a mail provider then it seems like you’re already satisfied enough with Tutanota.
there's osm, but that doesn't have the convenience of being able to just chuck in a place and have it tell me how to drive there, which I need if I'm at a red light and need to know how to get somewhere. ty :)
Ha! I deleted my own account before they could, jokes on you Ubi!! Jokes aside, fuck ubisoft. I primarily buy games from GOG. Recommended everyone to do the same 🐖
Has anyone in the US heard of Kitty Town? I like the idea of a percentage of profits going to feeding cats, so I decided to try some out and they have some interesting selections from around the world.
Currently running Kali on my laptop as that’s all it was used for. Looking for something more general purpose. Mainly steam for light gaming and being able to install the tools from Kali for stuff like tryhackme. Mostly familiar with Debian, as that’s what Kali is based on, but willing to try something else. Laptop is this...

Why YSK GrapheneOS is a step above the rest. I understand it’s ironic de-google phone/tablet with google hardware, but it just works better then anything else. Permission toggles, pin scrambling, auto-reboot, scopes, MAC randomization, isolated user profiles, longer passwords, sandboxed apps, open source firmware, no bloat &...
I would love to switch to GrapheneOS, but I need to know a certain apps work before I can make the change. Is there any way I can do this? They are financial apps and sadly use GSF. I cannot avoid not having them sadly. Any tips?
Lemmy.world here cause it seemed to be one of the top guns, and thought it mattered in the sense that I would see more content. But after learning about the fediverse I’ll most likely host my own instance soon 🤘
Looking to maybe self host my own instance, I’m still learning about the fediverse. If a different instance that I federate with hosts something illegal are there risks to me? Is anything from other instances hosted on my server like a copy of it? Or would I only end up hosting things my users post? I’m paranoid and sorry if...
I’ve calmed down a bit but still would like to know if there are any new ‘cool’ apps to selfhost. I know of the awesome-selfhosted github repo. Any other great sources, and could we incorporate something like that into our selfhosted community here? Maybe a bot that checks if any new ones been added?
For the past day or so every time I try to open Jerboa it just crashes immediately without an error message why. Is there any scheduled update/fix for Jerboa? I'd like to be able to browse on mobile again and really enjoyed the app while it was working....
Recommend checking out armcord and similar modded discord clients, they have a lot of the telemetry ripped out, if not alm, with options to install plugins and themes ✨

Instead of "X", how about we all call it "the website formerly known as Twitter" from now on?
Worked great when the artist formerly known as Prince changed his name to a symbol.
Should I switch from Tutanota to Skiff?
