Very nice ✨

One thing I’ve always been curious about with rice’s like these, how do fullscreen applications look whit this setup? Considering the divided bars at the top.

LunchEnjoyer,
@LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world avatar

Yes that was my question indeed, thanks. Would like to set up something similar for myself, so it’s called waybar then?

@LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world avatar

1050 Mobile here 🙃

@LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world avatar

I dont think there is much difference in what OS you choose when it comes to this question, more about how you configure your OS and how you install applications. That being said, I also daily drive OpenSuse Tumbleweed and it’s so far my favourite OS, Yast, Zypper and Opi are amazing to have in ones toolkit 😇

Hahaha good one 😅

Sorry to ruin your dreams… It’s _just_a sticker 😢

I have an #OpenWRT router. Let’s say I install Tailscale on it and want to create an interface that specifically routes to one of my exit nodes. Can I do that?

Everything I’ve seen about Tailscale on OpenWRT just provides direct router access to the tailnet (100.x.x.x), but I specifically want to route certain traffic to an exit node.

Can I do this? Do me proud, Fediverse! Hoping I can get good answers here without resorting to Reddit.

I’m not sure this hits the nail for you or not, but I recently solved a question I had regarding tailscale and routing traffic through an exitnode that was using a VPN. Could be worth a peek.

Solution was Docker and Gluetun ✨

How come? Did I format it wrongly? Guess I could have left separate image links to imgur.

Ok will do so next time 👌

What are the rules of buying used storage?

I am currently expanding my Homelab setup, and want to buy a 10TB drive, for media storage. It’s a Seagate Ironwolf disk, so perfect for the job. But, it’s second hand. It was originally bought in 2019, but stopped being used after 2022. Only used for static storage, it’s been booted less than 50 times. I can get it for...

Yeah agreed

Ok nice, I’ll ask for that before buying at least 👍 Thank you

ProtonVPN…

LunchEnjoyer,
@LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world avatar

I am currently writing my master thesis on this topic. The three beat choices out there are, Mullvad, ProtonVPN, IVPN. Plus Windscribe for an honorable mention (they have by far the funniest marketing team).

LunchEnjoyer,
@LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world avatar

Not done with my thesis yet… But, ExpressVPN is owned by Kape Technologies, who also own PIA and Cyberghost. To me that’s already sketchy as I wouldn’t trust a company that owns three of the same services, feels like they are all the same but layered with different UIs, although I cannot prove that.

Furthermore, Kape Technologies used to be Crossrider, a company that were connected to malware distribution.

Although not a peer reviewed source, I hope to dive deeper into this:

Appreciate it, but I am sadly still just in the planning and researching stage. I will start writing it in January and will be finished in June. If I can publish it without my name, then I will do so here on Lemmy 👍

I was not aware, but thanks!

Based on what I’ve read here on Lemmy, people generally tend to recommend agaåinst Ghostery, check this for one example : lemm.ee/comment/4348493

Recommend using Vivaldi if you need something chromium. Has the best god damn tab management I’ve ever tried at least.

Why the * in Unix? Sorry if I am naive 🙃

LunchEnjoyer,
@LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world avatar

Right, but what would replace the * in that case?

Unix or Un?x

Or am I totally off course here 🤔

No prior experience but also stumbeled upon HelloTux last I looked, might go with that for when I order something, looks good enough to me 👍

Nice! Been watching this for so long, super happy it’s coming to GOG! Own what you buy guys!

LunchEnjoyer,
@LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world avatar

haha, I dont even play the game any more due to the amount of hackers. But I would like to keep the copy that I have bought for a potential later time… defo not buying again tho :P

Tailscale is your friend, and stupid simple!

LunchEnjoyer,
@LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world avatar

Tailscale Funnels expose whatever service you have running to the public. I personally use this, so yes, it is an option.

[Solved with Gluetun] Tailscale ExitNode with VPN

I would really really really like to have one device on my tailnet as the exitnode for all other devices on the tailnet. However, most VPNs make this really difficult. Is there any way to do this? I’ve read it’s possible with split-tunnelling, but ProtonVPN (which I use) doesn’t support that. I just installed Alpine Linux...

LunchEnjoyer,
@LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world avatar

Wow! You know what, I was just thinking about using Gleutun for this enefore I went to bed last night, and then I wake up to this gem of a message!! 😅 Well done sir, I’ll be cooking this up ASAP!

LunchEnjoyer,
@LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world avatar

Awesome stuff dude! I will totally do this too 😁 Worst thing is I am already using Gleutun and I am ashamed I didn’t think about using it for this before… But honestly gonna have to donate some money to the developer of Gleutun as its just so awesome.

LunchEnjoyer,
@LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world avatar

I did think about it, but I use all of their services anyway, so for me it’s plenty worth it. I save money on paying for a suit, rather than individual services here an there.

LunchEnjoyer,
@LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world avatar

Hell yeah, got that working in an instant! Appreciate the pointer, have a great weekend! :)

A solution was posted in later comments, did you see?

Recommendations for OS on a rpi 4B (outside of RaspPiOS)

Quickly wondering what people recommend as OS for a rpi model 4b, outside of the RaspPiOS ofc. I want to use the RPI for all networking related stuff (dont worry its not using an sd-card). So PiHole, and I’ll also want to use it as my exit-node out of my Tailnet. I will also run ProtonVPN on it so that all my devices...

LunchEnjoyer,
@LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah I really do want to get into NixOS, just not had the time to learn something so different quitr yet. Possibly after Christmas. Would really like to be running the same OS on all of my devices fro sure.
