Cwilliams,

Im a little confused. What is Composefs?

Ecosia.org updates its Privacy Policy (www.ecosia.org)

From September 2023, we will be gradually rolling out our new unique search offer. This will happen over several months and won’t apply to everyone at the same time. This means that when you search through Ecosia, we work with either Microsoft Bing or, with your consent, Google to provide you with search results and ads. In...

Cwilliams,

Well I guess it’s kind of a lose lose then

Remove preinstalled apps - Universal Android Debloater (github.com)

I just discovered this amazing app! It lets you remove (or just disable) preinstalled apps like Facebook, Netflix, etc. and system apps like samsung knox apps, diagnostic, bixby, and even One UI (but you must have installed other launcher). You can’t brick your device, worst case it falls into a boot loop and after 5 reboots...

Cwilliams,

Seriously this would be sick

Cwilliams,

Does nord ever feel too low-contrast for you? I recently switched from nord to one dark for that extra bit of contrast. It makes it easier to read on those long coding hauls

Cwilliams,

On my desktop I use Gnome with Arc-Dark everywhere. On my laptop, I use LabWC with a custom one-dark theme that I wrote. Oh, and Phinger cursors on both

Cwilliams,

That top bar is nice! Good job

Cwilliams,

IMHO, that doesn’t sound any less ominous

Cwilliams,

The jq selector in the bottom left is killer

Cwilliams,

Just started going down the Nix rabbit hole and, yeah, it’s kinda annoying

Cwilliams,

Same here! I used to use BSPWM, but I since switched to RiverWM. It’s a lot like BSPWM, but for Wayland. Highly recommend

Cwilliams,

I have a Lenovo Yoga. Love it to death and it hasn’t failed me yet!

Cwilliams,

Yeah, ngl it was kinda hard to follow

Cwilliams,

Does it support hjkl?

Cwilliams,

Nice! I did the same thing until my school figured out how to block Google Play

Cwilliams,

I just relistened to Dark Net Diaries episode about this! (episode 100, titled NSO) Highly Recommend

Is privacy possible with smart TV?

I’d like to start a discussion about TV privacy in 2023. I’ve never been interested in having a TV, but recently I was thinking of getting one. Looking into it, the privacy implications seem horrible. All the major brands seem to have cameras, microphones, and content recognition software. I can’t believe how dystopian it...

Cwilliams,

I think you should look into Plasma Big screen

Cwilliams, (edited )

Does “plays on linux” mean native , or just ‘works fine with WINE (edit: or proton, apparently)’?

Cwilliams,

I can imagine where the $1200 came from…

Cwilliams,

I learned to never settle. If you don’t like the default workflow of Gnome, try some extensions, or even a different DE. Same with Package Managers. If you don’t like the syntax, make an alias. Don’t just “deal with it”. Windows has brainwashed people into thinking that there is only one way to do a thing.

Cwilliams,

Wow, I’ve never seen QOwnNotes before! It looks appealing. I’ll have to check it out

Cwilliams,

I used to use latte-dock, but I found the expirience quite buggy. Is it better now?

Cwilliams,

Oh boy, here we go again…

Cwilliams,

96% with Brave Browser (android) and DNS66 (custom block list)

Cwilliams,

I hope this isn’t just for KDE! It looks so cool

Cwilliams,

What is the advantage of Firefish over Mastodon?

Cwilliams,

I love how they’re smiling

Cwilliams,

I wish they would turn their current website into a PWA, then Android users could install it like an app. (Like wefwef/Voyager)

Kind of a Rant

I love the idea of having privacy in independence from all the tech giants’ services. I have a server at home that hosts my storage, media, synchronization, and backups, along with some other random services. Since all these services are basically my life, I sometimes read about better security practices to replace whatever I...

Cwilliams,

I went through a similar dilemma. My solution (take with a grain of salt) was to take a 1 month break and learn all of the stuff that I didn’t understand. When I came back, I found that less articles went over my head, and I actually understood them. Just some advice :)

Cwilliams,

Wait, you can read any of that? Impressive

Cwilliams,

Ah, I see. My C skills could use some brushing up
