Es gibt nichts extremeres auf der Welt, als öffentlich verkünden zu können, dass es Menschen gibt, die sich von anderen unterscheiden.

Certainly_No_Brit,

I slowly start to believe that sh.itjust.works needs to be defederated. I’ve been seeing too many idiots on that instance lately.

Certainly_No_Brit,

Do you mean “red hat” for RHEL or USA republicans?

Certainly_No_Brit,

The Nazis defeated the Nazis, just as Hitler killed WWII’s villain, Hitler! It’s all a big circle!

Certainly_No_Brit,

When using Tor over VPN, the data going through the VPN’s server is already encrypted for Tor, but your IP is visible to the “black box”. Your anonymity should theoretically still be in effect even if someone reads your traffic.

When using VPN over Tor, the data itself isn’t encrypted by Tor anymore, but the IP isn’t your original IP, but the exit node’s. Your anonymity depends on how you paid for the VPN (Monero > Cash by mail > Credit card).

There is no evidence that the Tor network is compromised by the US government. It’s an open source network run by many volunteers all over the world. No FBI or CIA agent is ever gonna tell you to use Tor.

Certainly_No_Brit,

Depending on your usage of a VPN, it can help your anonymity, but it’s very much not necessary.

Certainly_No_Brit,

Pacman installs binaries in the root partition because they are installed system-wide. I don’t think that pacman can install binaries for a single user (inside the home partition).

One way of achieving that would be compiling or downloading the binaries manually as a normal user and putting the .desktop file in .local/share/applications. The program would then be only accessible for a single user though.

VPN blocking VPN connections

Slightly confusing, and not necessarily directly piracy-related. I run OpenVPN on my Netgear router that allows me to connect to devices on my home network while I am away from home. It works great for most devices, but I cannot connect to any devices that are running Mullvad VPN. Disabling Mullvad on those devices allows me to...

Certainly_No_Brit,

Did you enable “Local network sharing” in the Mullvad app? It’s possible that Mullvad is blocking all outside traffic.

Why stop at Scary Movie? Add all the "Movie"s to the marathon, for example Epic Movie, Date Movie and Disaster Movie

[discussion]: regarding the best OS for a pirate

This post started out as a question, but throughout two days of googling it became this compilation of links. I will tell you everything worth mention that I found, share my plan with you, and expect some critics (for the infos of course, please not for the silly hyperactivity of my ADHD brain over such a trivial matter 🥲)....

Certainly_No_Brit,

The cheese is not free, it was crowdfunded.

Certainly_No_Brit,

Downloaded manga in Tachiyomi are saved in a folder called Tachiyomi by default and you can tell the app to save the manga in cbz archives. You can then copy these .cbz files to another drive.

Any way to listen to music (privately?) (lemmy.ml)

I’m going insane. I cannot for the life of me find a suitable way to listen to music privately. I’m on iOS, and I don’t know whether to just stick to Apple Music or give up on music in general (I tried, TRIED to go local, but all the apps are shitty). Any way to listen to music and not have your data compromised? Should I...

Certainly_No_Brit,

If you only need music streaming, then a service like Navidrome may be better.

Certainly_No_Brit,

AI ≠ Algorithm

An algorithm always answers/does the same on an input, AI doesn’t. Blaming AI for algorithmic content delivery is false.

It is not the algorithm that is destroying humanity, but the financial incentive of the people standing behind it.

Certainly_No_Brit,

The current AI does have no way of destroying humanity, because it is made to do only one thing right. We haven’t yet made a general AI.

The whole “AI will destroy us” thing is certainly blown out of proportion and fueled by themes like Skynet. It having a reason to let us live doesn’t guarantee freedom though. A rogue AI could still just enslave us or use us as energy sources (which is dumb and copied from The Matrix).

Certainly_No_Brit,

I don’t think it is even needed. An intelligent AI capable of killing humans would see all the gore and sadness on the internet and just decide to kill us all. An AI that lets itself be influenced by some internet article won’t have the capabilities to end humanity.

Jellyfin audio is always out of sync

About a month ago I set up the arr apps to download media. I was using Plex but have recently decided to try out Jellyfin. With Plex, I could easily adjust my audio offset for anything that wasn’t in sync. In Jellyfin I am not seeing this option and everything I have downloaded is out of sync by about 50-100ms....

Certainly_No_Brit,

Have you tried playing the files locally with VLC or MPV? Is the audio out of sync in the files themselves or is it because of Jellyfin?

Sometimes the audio on my client is out of sync, but after stopping and resuming the video, the audio syncs again.

“World IDs are issued on the Worldcoin protocol, which allows individuals to prove that they are human to any verifier (including web2 applications) while maintaining their privacy through zero-knowledge proofs.”

“The Orb uses multispectral sensors to verify humanness and uniqueness to issue an Orb-verified World ID, with all images being promptly deleted on-device per default” Whitepaper

I guess that the information is somehow encrypted. The whitepaper doesn’t really seem to explain how a website can verify that the “World ID” is owned by a real human. Does the blockchain prohibit an individual from creating multiple World IDs? The World App doesn’t seem to collect any official PII, except an E-Mail address and a phone number, which you can have multiple of.

If you can create multiple World IDs, which are anonymous (at least the whitepaper and the Google Play Store says so), then bots could also just use a World ID to “verify” that they are human. The whitepaper is really shallow and doesn’t explain some of the most important aspects of verification.

You get an “anonymous” ID, which is created by biometrics, which are “promptly” deleted after creation of the ID. By that logic it is impossible to stop individuals from creating multiple IDs, except everyone’s state-issued identity is recorded and saved on a central server, which is bad privacy-wise.

This looks like the source code for jackett.py. You have to copy the text into a file or download the page (you can do that in the right-click menu) and rename it to “jackett.py”

Certainly_No_Brit, (edited )
