I always feel conflicted when I see things like this. On one side good for them, they found a way to get their message across to a nation news. But on the other hand they are intentionally disrupting infrastructure people rely on everyday. I don’t think it’s a bad thing that people want global change, but I do think it is a bad thing that people feel powerless to influence this change so they have to resort to more disruptive methods like this. More representation in the federal government could help prevent this.
You heard it here first folks. The deep chess state wants you to play be their game by their rules. Wake up sheeple! Stop being a pawn and promote yourself to someone not blinded by big chess. It’s no coincidence that the sentence “I like doing chess a lot” and “eat children” have the some of the same letters in them! The evidence is everywhere.
I’ve used several drive thrus where I felt that just having a Google form for me to fill out would have been more effective. Also drive thrus are helping to destroy the world. #fuckcars
Exactly. I know a much of McDonald’s have self order kiosks. And if you live near a Wawa/Sheetz/royal farms (all USA chains) they use mobile order kiosks. The tech exists they just don’t want to use it for the drive thru for some reason. Drive up ATMs are all over the place so it’s not like it’s a foreign idea to use a touch screen from a car.
Plus you can’t leave it parked anywhere. Anyone who sees it will want to recreate the famous steel ball test. Dude will spend a fortune at the tesla dealership getting his “bulletproof” windows replaced every week.
I hearby excumicate myself from the religion of c++ to start the far superior religion of c#. All those who remain with that heathonistic static class oriented language shall burn in the pits of compiler hell.
It’s like gateway drug of crimes. JK, It all goes back to litering, gum has lots of wrappers and the inedible gum itself. No gum helps build the SG culture of zero tolerance for crimes. If you teach children even the smallest of crimes have serious repercussions they will be less likely to commit future crimes. At least that’s the idea, it’s easier in a rich country where people have their basic needs fulfilled.
As a USA citizen we suffer from a culture of “blind patriotism and stupidity.” A lot of people believe anything the USA did in the past is right because the USA did it. A lot of people believe all other nations are inferior, living in the USA it is very easy to be isolated from other nations. I personally find it easy to write nonsense on Lemmy from the safety of my couch.
Hey. I thought I’d give this a shot, just a general chat thread about running… eg. How was your run today, how are you tracking, how’s your training going for that race that you decided to go for etc… if it’s popular, maybe someone knows how to write a bot to post weekly or monthly? (I don’t)
I’ve been trying to get back into it more. It’s hard after college when all the running friends you had have moved away, and work takes up way more time. I’ve been doing about 30-40 minutes every other day. I find it a lot harder to regulate me pace when I run less.
No, it’s to own a car for personal use. Singapore is a city state, emphasis on the city part. The article also says it only takes 60 minutes to drive end to end so the need for a car is probably minimal. The fee they are referring to here was created to reduce the amount of cars on the roads to help with traffic. Singapore has a pretty robust public transit system so for most people it probably isn’t a deal breaker. I’m glad to see a country taking action to limit car dependance.
It all goes back to the “American (lie) dream”. The idea that with enough hard work you will become rich and better than your parents. The CEOs have to make their succes fit the narrative so they pretend to be scientists who worked hard.

I find it’s kind of a mixed bag. A bunch of communities I joined a few months ago are now just bot posts and boring but a bunch of newer communities I’ve joined are way better than reddit was.
Almost like space exploration and communication isn’t sustainable at all. It’s such a harsh environment and starkink out up so many so quick. Musk isn’t liked by the FAA because he has publicly defied standards and said he won’t follow the laws. It wouldn’t surprise me if these are failing due to something simple that was overlooked and Musk payed his way to speed thru certification or faked compliance.
If I’m person from EU and I work for USA remote company. Is it possible for that company to pay taxes, insurance and pension contributions. And if yes how do?
There would be nothing legally requiring a USA company to do any of that. When you negotiate the contract you should either increase your base price to include that or explicitly add it to the contract. It doesn’t hurt to pay a USA contract lawyer to write/review the contract to make sure it covers what you want.
I have often had this thought when driving around for parking at a mall in rural America. Wouldn’t a parking garage greatly reduce walking time into the store and save enough space to add more stores? But you see tons of small towns in America with laws against parking structes to “protect their small towns appeal”. Because as we all know the reason why people more to small towns is for the love of driving in a parking lot.
Hulu has a lower price tear that includes ads. It makes it more affordable for some people. If they had started out with ads I would be less upset, but for a big company like Amazon it just seems like they’re trying to make even more money off of the consumer.
As a cool side project I could see someone developing it. But I don’t think any companies would put money into it. It doesn’t add a huge amount of value to the product.
Or we should improve rail and bus transit. Wi-Fi on board and you can stream whatever you want. Plus no stressful, bad for the earth, driving. #fuckcars
And you can actively choose to better or worsen society, just like you can choose to better or worsen traffic. Vote for legislation to improve public transit. #fuckcars

It sounds like you’re looking for a hobby. It’s normal to feel like you have no “thing” to do, that’s why people do hobbies. My advice would be to pick out 3 things you’ve never done before and go try them. If you like one stick with it, if you hate them all try something else. Most people will not be world leaders or have a global impact but you can make a meaningful impact on a smaller hobbiest community. My 3 reasonably low cost suggestions are 1. Rock climbing (there are gyms everywhere if you Google, find one that is doing a discount night or other event and go) 2. Biking (contact a local bike shop to see if they do community rides, they may even let you borrow one of you don’t own a bike) 3. Book club ( if you have free time it’s easy to read and chances are the club is more social then talking about the book)
On my run today I saw a hawk dead in the rode. I felt bad because it was right next to a park in my town where he probably lived. He was just doing his thing hunting mice and bam no more hawk.
Chopping wood is like when I lock my phone and forget the password so it just gets worse? Just because you use a simile doesn’t mean it makes any sense.
I would say is “what is Russia trying to do start WW3?” But then I have to stop myself because as a USA citizen my country has done and still does the same things. It just feels like the point of governments and society is so we can collectivly find better solutions to our problems not to topple other societies for our own gain.
I also wonder whether there could be factors that determine how many students would be considered wondrous or how many would be considered more extrinsically motivated.
