Receiving this prize truly is an honour, and I'm particularly grateful to the institutions (and mentors!) that have supported me in pursuing research across established disciplinary boundaries, including:
Maastricht University (FASoS), University of Helsinki (HCAS & Aleksanteri Institute), Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS), NWO, Helsingin Sanomat Foundation, Leibniz IOS Regensburg, Leibniz Institute for Media Research (Hans Bredow Institute).
Such awards tend to reinforce the idea of 'individual excellence' in academic research and push collaboration to the background. I'm immensely grateful to my co-authors, collaborators and network.

I haven't seen any interviews with her, but #media / #journalists should really be speaking with Kassandra Luciuk about the SS veteran invited to Parliament. Luciuk is a historian (Dalhousie) of the Ukrainian community in 20th-century #Canada. She demonstrates that some Cold-War Canadian officials were quite happy for right-wing Ukrainian migrants to use violence against communist labour leaders, also from Ukraine, already in the country. #CdnPoli#CdnHist#histodons
2/ This week I've read/heard many discussions in the media of SS veterans' migration to #Canada, but none with historians. What I've seen are conversations with politicians. Fine, this is a contemporary political debate. Still, all of these conversations claim that "we don't know enough" about the history. But scholars know more than politicians! If I were a journalist, I'd start with Luciuk, but other #histodons (of migration, anti-communism, intelligence, politics) could help too. @histodons

For years, the media built up Elon Musk and got the public to buy into the myth of his genius. Now the truth of who he is can’t be hidden and changing how they cover Musk isn’t enough.
The media failed us. They not only need to inform the public about the harms of Musk’s empire, but change how they cover the entire tech industry so another grifter can’t replicate his rise. They owe us nothing less.
Apparently, the #DailyMail has just launched "Woke Watch", where red faced pillocks send in angry e-mails, complaining about transgender asylum seekers giving their house prices pronoun cancer, or something.
